A family of calix-crown hybrid molecules containing calix[4]arene and crown-5/6, either at lower rim or at both upper and lower rims, have been synthesised, characterised and their competitive complexation property towards alkali and alkaline earth metal ions in aqueous media have been investigated. The competitive metal ion extraction study, carried out with equimolar mixture of Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Sr2+ in aqueous media, revealed that the amount of K+ extracted is remarkably high compared to other metal ions. Complexation with K+ has been investigated by 1H NMR, association constants and thermodynamic parameters have been determined by isothermal calorimetric study. The molecular structures of one of the receptors and two of the K+ complexes have been established by single crystal X-ray study. One of the receptors formed bimetallic complex and it exhibited interesting polymeric network structure with bridged picrate anion. These receptors have been applied for extraction of metal ions from bittern. 相似文献

Statistically designed amphiphilic copolymer coatings were deposited onto Thermanox, Si wafer, and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) substrates via Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition of 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyl acrylate and diethylene glycol vinyl ether in an Inductively Excited Low Pressure Plasma reactor. Plasma deposited amphiphilic coatings were characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, and Water Contact Angle techniques. The surface energy of the coatings can be adjusted between 12 and 70 mJ/m(2). The roughness of the coatings can be tailored depending on the plasma mode used. A very smooth coating was deposited with a CW (continuous wave) power, whereas a rougher surface with R(a) in the range of 2 to 12 nm was deposited with the PW (pulsed wave) mode. The nanometer scale roughness of amphiphilic PFDA-co-DEGVE coatings was found to be in the range of the size of the two proteins namely BSA and lysozyme used to examine for the antifouling properties of the surfaces. The results show that the statistically designed surfaces, presenting a surface energy around 25 mJ/m(2), present no adhesion with respect to both proteins measured by QCM. 相似文献

Gold nanoparticles functionalized with thiol-modified DNA have been widely used in making various nanostructures, colorimetric biosensors, and drug delivery vehicles. Over the past 15 years, significant progress has been made to improve the stability of such functionalized nanoparticles. The stability of the gold-thiol bond in this system, however, has not been studied in a systematic manner. Most information on the gold-thiol bond was obtained from the study of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). In this study, we employed two fluorophore-labeled and thiol-modified DNAs. The long-term stability of the thiol-gold bond as a function of time, salt, temperature, pH, and organic solvent has been studied. We found that the bond spontaneously dissociated under all tested conditions. The dissociation was favored at high salt, high pH, and high temperature, and little DNA degradation was observed in our system. Most organic solvents showed a moderate protection effect on the gold-thiol bond. The stability of the gold-thiol bond in the DNA system was also compared with that in SAMs. While there are many similarities, we also observed opposite trends for the salt and ethanol effect. This study suggests that the purified DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles should be freshly prepared and used in a day or two. Wide-bandwidth ionospheric incoherent scatter (IS) spectra obtained using the Arecibo IS radar show the occurrence of a split in the plasma line (i.e., two plasma lines) when the plasma frequency is close to the second harmonic of the electron gyrofrequency. This split is predicted in the IS theory for a magnetized plasma, but observations have never been reported. Here we present the experimental results and theoretical calculations supporting the observations. These results may assist in understanding the behavior of Langmuir waves in the magnetized plasma and are a validation of what historically was a somewhat controversial aspect of the IS theory. 相似文献

Optical absorption measurements were made on tin diselenide thin films grown on glass substrates by thermal evaporation of stoichiometric bulk compound. In the as-deposited films, optical absorption was dominated by an indirect transition at lower photon energies with a band gap of 1.4 eV. The direct allowed transition with a band gap of 1.62 eV was predominant at higher energies. Annealing the film at elevated temperatures resulted in the decrease of both the direct and indirect transition band gaps. 相似文献
