Convenient and Efficient Method for the Iodination of Aromatic Amines by Pyridinium Iodochloride

A simple and efficient method for the iodination of aromatic amines using pyridinium iodochloride (PyICl) in methanol as solvent is reported. Mild reaction conditions, short reaction time, and good to excellent yields of the product are the noteworthy advantages of the method. Pyridinium iodochloride is an efficient solid iodinating reagent and can be handled safely.

Novel Fluorinated Spiro [Indole-indazolyl-thiazolidine]-2,4′-diones: Design and Synthesis

The reaction of indol-2,3-diones ( 1a–i ) with 5-aminoindazole ( 2 ) has resulted in the formation of hitherto unknown 3-(indazol-5-yl)iminoindol-2-ones ( 3a–i ) in quantitative yields which, on 1,3-dipolar cyclocondensation with mercaptoacetic acid ( 4 ), has afforded a series of new spiro heterocycles, 3′-(indazol-5-yl) spiro[3H, indol-3, 2′ -thiazolidine]-2,4′-diones* ( 5a–i ).     

Thermal properties of textile fabrics

Objective evaluation techniques were used in this study of thermal properties of textile fabric. The Alambeta, P tester, and Togmeter measure the passages of air which were used for evaluation of the physiological properties. Fibrous materials were prepared in the form of textile knitting fabric COOLMAX. It is clear from the measurement that there are considerable differences in the results of measurement with described methods. Device Alambeta is convenient for the measurement and evaluation of various thermal properties. Finally, it can be concluded that this field of measurements is developing and will be the subject of further research of other methods, more suitable for measurement of the various characteristics.     

Heterocycles in Organic Synthesis. III A Facile Synthesis of Isoquinolinyl Vinyl Sulphides

Vinyl sulphides find a substantial application in organic synthesis.² The synthetic utility of heter cyclic vinyl sulphides due to the ease in extension of heterocyclic ring³ should be more versatile, Here, we report the synthesis of isoquinolinyl vinyl sulphides from dihydrothiazolo [2, 3-a] isoquinolinium cations, depicting another use of heterocycles in organic synthesis.⁴     

Total Synthesis of Pulchellalactam via an RCM Strategy

Metal-based anticancer agents: targeting androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate and COX-positive pancreatic cancer cells by phenanthrenequinone semicarbazone and its metal complexes

A planar, polycyclic and aromatic hydrocarbon ligand, namely 9,10-phenanthrenequinone semicarbazone, and its transition metal complexes have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The in vitro antiproliferative activity of these compounds against five human cancer cell lines revealed that they were effective against androgen receptor-positive/negative prostate cancer cells as well as COX-positive pancreatic BxPC-3 cancer cell line. The driving force behind such antiproliferative activity seems to be the up-regulated COX expression in these cells, which was amenable for targeting through metal complexation. These structural motifs can, therefore, serve as a starting point for developing novel cytotoxic agents against the growing number of prostate and pancreatic cancers.
