Products of Quasi-Involutions in Unitary Groups

Given a regular ^–-hermitian form on an n-dimensional vector space V over a commutative field K of characteristic 2 ( ). Call an element of the unitary group a quasi-involution if is a product of commuting quasi-symmetries (a quasi-symmetry is a unitary transformation with a regular (n–1)-dimensional fixed space). In the special case of an orthogonal group every quasi-involution is an involution. Result: every unitary element is a product of five quasi-involutions. If K is algebraically closed then three quasi-involutions suffice.     

Precision laser spectropolarimetry

A procedure for precision measurements of small angle rotation of light polarization plane vs wavelength is described. Analyzed at length is the optical spectropolarimeter configuration, wherein the frequency-dependent instrumental rotations are suppressed to the maximum degree. The sensitivity and the accuracy of the technique are illustrated by the examples of measuring the optical activity of atomic bismuth caused by parity nonconservation and the spectral profiles of the Faraday rotation. 爆炸法合成的纳米碳集聚体和纳米金刚石具有大量的结构缺陷和表面官能团. 电子顺磁共振（EPR）研究表明,它们均含有大量的自由基,而且纳米碳集聚体和纳米金刚石的EPR谱的形状、峰面积、g因子以及线宽ΔH_pp等都存在着较大的差异. 此外,还探讨了制备方法、化学处理条件、粒径大小、表面改性及掺杂对纳米碳集聚体和纳米金刚石的自由基密度的影响.     

Collision broadening of spectral lines corresponding to transitions between excited levels of the cesium atom

The constants of pressure self-broadening of cesium have been measured for the transitions 6P _1/2−8D _3/2, 6P _3/2−10S _1/2, and 5D _5/2−nF(n=14−19). The constants of the resonance broadening of the 6P _1/2 and 6P _3/2 cesium levels, the constants of electron collisional broadening of thenF levels at a temperature ofT≈1500 K, and the oscillator strengths of the 5D _5/2−nF(n=14−18) transitions have been determined. Background  

The Rett Syndrome (RTT) brain displays regional histopathology and volumetric reduction, with frontal cortex showing such abnormalities, whereas the occipital cortex is relatively less affected.     

Numerical analyses of optical couplers for planar waveguides

The paper presents the results of numerical analyses of optical structures realized in the form of planar waveguides made of materials with high values of the refractive index n ??1.85. The analysed structures consist of a waveguide and input-output systems. Input-output couplers are realized in the form of prisms as well as Bragg??s grating couplers. Numerical investigations were carried out by applying the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method.
