We consider a rigid body acted upon by two forces, a constant force and the collective force of interaction with a continuum of particles. We assume that some of the particles that collide with the body reflect elastically (specularly), while others reflect probabilistically with some probability distribution K. We find that the rate of approach of the body to equilibrium is O(t ?3?p ) in three dimensions where p can take any value in (0, 2], depending on K.  相似文献

A new method is developed for the determination of Saupe's order parameters S* and D* from I.R. or U.V. spectra and the temperature dependence of their degree of anisotropy R. This method can be applied to molecules with one uniformly polarized band and another band of mixed polarization if all bands concerned are polarized in the same plane. For that a relation D* = f(S*) between the order parameters as a function of temperature is necessary, which can be obtained from the lines of constant entropy in the order triangle. These isentropics are calculated from the orientational distribution function of the ordered system. The resulting function D* = f(S*) is equal to that of the mean field theory given by Luckhurst et al., but can be derived here in a very easy way. The method is applied to diaminoanthraquinones with a point symmetry C2v.  相似文献

Hexasubstituted fullerenes with the skew pentagonal pyramid (SPP) addition pattern are predominantly formed in many types of reactions and represent important and versatile building blocks for supramolecular chemistry, biomedical and optoelectronic applications. Regioselective synthesis and characterization of the new SPP derivative, C60(CF3)4(CN)H, in this work led to the experimental identification of the new family of “superhalogen fullerene radicals”, species with the gas‐phase electron affinity higher than that of the most electronegative halogens, F and Cl. Low‐temperature photoelectron spectroscopy and DFT studies of different C60X5 radicals reveal a profound effect of X groups on their electron affinities (EA), which vary from 2.76 eV (X=CH3) to 4.47 eV (X=CN). The measured gas‐phase EA of the newly synthesized C60(CF3)4CN equals 4.28 (1) eV, which is about 1 eV higher than the EA of Cl atom. An observed remarkable stability of C60(CF3)4CN? in solution under ambient conditions opens new venues for design of air‐stable molecular complexes and salts for supramolecular structures of electroactive functional materials.  相似文献

The differential cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons has been measured as a function of the photon transverse energy E(T)(γ) in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV using data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 pb(-1). Photons are required to have a pseudorapidity |η(γ)|<1.45 and E(T)(γ)>21 GeV, covering the kinematic region 0.006相似文献

A search for pair production of first-generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing two electrons and two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s = 7 TeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 33 pb?1 collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for the standard model background processes, and an upper limit is set on the leptoquark pair production cross section times β2 as a function of the leptoquark mass, where β is the branching fraction of the leptoquark decay to an electron and a quark. A 95% confidence level lower limit is set on the mass of a first-generation scalar leptoquark at 384 GeV for β = 1, which is the most stringent direct limit to date.  相似文献

A study of events with missing transverse energy and an energetic jet is performed using pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected by the CMS detector at the LHC, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). An excess of these events over standard model contributions is a signature of new physics such as large extra dimensions and unparticles. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the prediction of the standard model, and significant extension of the current limits on parameters of new physics benchmark models is achieved.  相似文献
