The tryptophan (Trp) aromatic residue in chiral matrices often exhibits a large optical activity and thus provides valuable structural information. However, it can also obscure spectral contributions from other peptide parts. To better understand the induced chirality, electronic circular dichroism (ECD), vibrational circular dichroism (VCD), and Raman optical activity (ROA) spectra of Trp‐containing cyclic dipeptides c‐(Trp‐X) (where X=Gly, Ala, Trp, Leu, nLeu, and Pro) are analyzed on the basis of experimental spectra and density functional theory (DFT) computations. The results provide valuable insight into the molecular conformational and spectroscopic behavior of Trp. Whereas the ECD is dominated by Trp π–π* transitions, VCD is dominated by the amide modes, well separated from minor Trp contributions. The ROA signal is the most complex. However, an ROA marker band at 1554 cm?1 indicates the local χ2 angle value in this residue, in accordance with previous theoretical predictions. The spectra and computations also indicate that the peptide ring is nonplanar, with a shallow potential so that the nonplanarity is primarily induced by the side chains. Dispersion‐corrected DFT calculations provide better results than plain DFT, but comparison with experiment suggests that they overestimate the stability of the folded conformers. Molecular dynamics simulations and NMR results also confirm a limited accuracy of the dispersion‐DFT model in nonaqueous solvents. Combination of chiral spectroscopies with theoretical analysis thus significantly enhances the information that can be obtained from the induced chirality of the Trp aromatic residue. 相似文献

Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation scans and dispersed fluorescence (DFL) spectra have been recorded for two four-carbon α,ω-diphenyl systems, diphenyldiacetylene (DPDA, φ-C≡C-C≡C-φ) and trans-diphenylvinylacetylene (DPVA, φ-CH≡CH-C≡C-φ) as isolated molecules cooled in a supersonic expansion. While these molecules have similar conjugation length, they exhibit strikingly different vibronic spectroscopy and photophysics. The near-UV LIF excitation spectrum of diphenyldiacetylene has its electronic origin at 32,158 cm(-1), and a strong progression in the C≡C stretch (2156 cm(-1)). All transitions are inherently broad, with widths of ~30 cm(-1) fwhm or greater. The S(1) origin DFL spectrum is composed of sharp transitions with Franck-Condon activity mirroring that in the excitation spectrum, and broad emission shifted well to the red ascribable to phosphorescence on the μs timescale. Using ab initio calculations, it is possible to show that DPDA exists as a single, planar conformer with D(2h) symmetry. In contrast, trans-diphenylvinylacetylene shows intense sharp transitions in both LIF and DFL spectra with an S(0)-S(1) origin of 31,183.2 cm(-1) and long progressions involving the in-plane fundamentals ν(53) (bridge-phenyl bending) and ν(51) (bridge-phenyl stretch). A sharp reduction in fluorescence yield in DPVA occurs within 300 cm(-1) of the S(1) origin. Possible causes for the photophysical processes occurring in the two molecules are discussed. 相似文献

Several Ge(II) and Ge(IV) compounds were investigated as possible reagents for the electrodeposition of Ge from liquid CH(3)CN and CH(2)F(2) and supercritical CO(2) containing as a co-solvent CH(3)CN (scCO(2)) and supercritical CH(2)F(2) (scCH(2)F(2)). For Ge(II) reagents the most promising results were obtained using [NBu(n)(4)][GeCl(3)]. However the reproducibility was poor and the reduction currents were significantly less than the estimated mass transport limited values. Deposition of Ge containing films was possible at high cathodic potential from [NBu(n)(4)][GeCl(3)] in liquid CH(3)CN and supercritical CO(2) containing CH(3)CN but in all cases they were heavily contaminated by C, O, F and Cl. Much more promising results were obtained using GeCl(4) in liquid CH(2)F(2) and supercritical CH(2)F(2). In this case the reduction currents were consistent with mass transport limited reduction and bulk electrodeposition produced amorphous films of Ge. Characterisation by XPS showed the presence of low levels of O, F and C, XPS confirmed the presence of Ge together with germanium oxides, and Raman spectroscopy showed that the as deposited amorphous Ge could be crystallised by the laser used in obtaining the Raman measurements. 相似文献

The gas phase hydrogen abstraction reaction between OH and CY(2)XH, where X = H, F, OH, or NH(2) and Y = H, CH(3) or F, in the absence and presence of a single water molecule is investigated using both density function theory, B3LYP, and explicitly correlated coupled cluster theory, CCSD(T)-F12. We find that a single water molecule could have a catalytic effect at low temperatures possible in laboratory experiments, but does not seem to catalyze these reactions at 298 K, and will not play a role under relevant atmospheric conditions. 相似文献

We investigate the separation of drops in force-driven deterministic lateral displacement (f-DLD), a promising high-throughput continuous separation method in microfluidics. We perform scaled-up macroscopic experiments in which drops settle through a square array of cylindrical obstacles. These experiments demonstrate the separation capabilities-and provide insight for the design-of f-DLD for drops of multiple sizes, including drops that are larger than the gaps between cylinders and exhibit substantial deformation as they move through the array. We show that for any orientation of the driving force relative to the array of obstacles, the trajectories of the drops follow selected locking directions in the lattice. We also found that a simple collision model accurately describes the average migration angles of the drops for the entire range of sizes investigated here, and for all forcing directions. In addition, we found a difference of approximately 20° between the critical angles at which the smallest and largest drops first move across a line of obstacles (column) in the array, a promising result in terms of potential size resolution of this method. Finally, we demonstrate that a single line of cylindrical obstacles rotated with respect to the driving force is capable of performing binary separations. The critical angles obtained in such single line experiments, moreover, agree with those obtained using the full array, thus validating the assumption in which the trajectory (and average migration angle) of the drops is calculated from individual obstacle-drop collisions. 相似文献

Single crystal photocrystallographic experiments and solid state Raman spectroscopy have been used to determine the low temperature, metastable structures of the nickel(ii) nitrito complexes [Ni(aep)(2)(η(1)-ONO)(2)] 1#O (aep = 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperidine), [Ni(aem)(2)(η(1)-ONO)(2)] 2#O (aem = 1-(2-aminoethyl)morpholine), and [Ni(aepy)(2)(η(1)-ONO)(2)] 3#O (aepy = 1-(2-aminoethyl)pyrrolidine and where the #O denotes the oxygen-bound nitrito metastable molecule). These linkage isomers of the equivalent nitro complexes [Ni(aep)(2)(η(1)-NO(2))(2)] 1, [Ni(aem)(2)(η(1)-NO(2))(2)] 2 and [Ni(aepy)(2)(η(1)-NO(2))(2)] 3 are formed by LED irradiation at temperatures below 120 K. The behavior of the three complexes upon irradiation is generally similar, but some subtle differences have been observed. From the crystallographic studies all three complexes 1-3 exhibit the endo-nitrito linkage isomer upon irradiation, however, for 3# (a crystal structure that contains components of both 3 and 3#O) an exo-nitrito isomer is also observed. Under conditions of 90-100 K, with blue light, the conversion percentages to the nitrito isomers, 1#O, 2#O and 3#O were 16%, 22% and 30%, respectively. At temperatures below 110 K all three nitrito isomers were stable for over four hours but while 2#O and 3#O could be detected at temperatures down to 30 K, at temperatures below 60 K the metastable structure 1#O appeared to be quenched and only the nitro isomer 1 was identified in the crystal. The solid state Raman spectra for 1#, 2# and 3# confirmed the photocrystallographic results with the nitrito isomers being identified from the O-N-O deformation vibrations. 相似文献

The relative intensity and band shapes of the low energy spin-allowed transitions in the linearly polarised and circular dichroism spectrum of [Ni(en)(3)](2+) have been calculated using a time-dependent density functional theory approach. The effect of the trigonal ligand-field is minimal and no splitting of the bands is predicted by the simulations or observed experimentally. The 'd-d' transitions of the [Ni(en)(3)](2+) ion are electric dipole allowed but gain much of their intensity through Herzberg-Teller vibronic coupling. Its CD spectrum is dominated by the low energy band, which gains its rotatory strength through the magnetic dipole-allowed character of the parent octahedral transition and the electric dipole character due to the trigonal field. The simulation of the spectrum incorporates the contribution from all inducing vibrational modes with significant involvement of the {NiN(6)} unit. Vibrations which are centred on the chelate rings are not important in generating intensity, reflecting the localised d-d' character of the transitions. Simulated linearly polarised and circular dichroism spectra of such an open-shell system are presented for the first time and predict the essential elements of the experimental spectra. 相似文献

The asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) is a high-capacity galactose-binding receptor expressed on hepatocytes that binds its native substrates with low affinity. More potent ligands are of interest for hepatic delivery of therapeutic agents. We report several classes of galactosyl analogues with varied substitution at the anomeric, C2-, C5-, and C6-positions. Significant increases in binding affinity were noted for several trifluoromethylacetamide derivatives without covalent attachment to the protein. A variety of new ligands were obtained with affinity for ASGPR as good as or better than that of the parent N-acetylgalactosamine, showing that modification on either side of the key C3,C4-diol moiety is well tolerated, consistent with previous models of a shallow binding pocket. The galactosyl pyranose motif therefore offers many opportunities for the attachment of other functional units or payloads while retaining low-micromolar or better affinity for the ASGPR. 相似文献
