This paper presents the first systematic engineering study of the impact of chemical formulation and surface functionalization on the performace of free-standing microfluidic polymer elements used for high-pressure fluid control in glass microsystems. System design, chemical wet-etch processes, and laser-induced polymerization techniques are described, and parametric studies illustrate the effects of polymer formulation, glass surface modification, and geometric constraints on system performance parameters. In particular, this study shows that highly crosslinked and fluorinated polymers can overcome deficiencies in previously-reported microvalve architectures, particularly limited solvent compatibility. Substrate surface modification is shown effective in reducing the friction of the polymer-glass interface and thereby facilitating valve actuation. A microchip one-way valve constructed using this architecture shows a 2 x 10(8) ratio of forward and backward flow rates at 7 MPa. This valve architecture is integrated on chip with minimal dead volumes (70 pl), and should be applicable to systems (including chromatography and chemical synthesis devices) requiring high pressures and solvents of varying polarity. 相似文献

Benzylic zinc reagents add with high regioselectivity to 1-(phenoxycarbonyl) salts derived from pyridine-3-carboxaldehyde ( 1a ) or 3-acetylpyridine ( 1b ) to yield 1-(phenoxylcarbonyl)-4-benzyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxaldehydes 5a, 5c or ketones 5b, 5d . Aromatizations of these dihydro analogues with sulfur led to the corresponding aldehydes 6a, 6c or ketones 6b, 6d . An alternate synthesis to the aldehydic precursors involved additions of benzylic zinc reagents to 1-(phenoxycarbonyl) salts formed from methyl nicotinates which led to the corresponding methyl 1-(phenoxycarbonyl)-4-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinates 7a, 7b . Aromatizations of 7a, 7b led to the corresponding pyridine esters 8a, 8b which on reduction with lithium aluminum hydride yielded the corresponding carbinols 9a, 9b . Oxidation of 9a, 9b by manganese dioxide afforded aldehydes 6e, 6f . Aldehydes 6a-f were readily converted into the benz[g]isoquinolines 10a-f on heating in polyphosphoric acid. 相似文献

Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions of aryl and heteroaryl halides with aryl-, heteroaryl- and vinylboronic acids proceed in very good to excellent yield with the use of 2-(2',6'-dimethoxybiphenyl)dicyclohexylphosphine, SPhos (1). This ligand confers unprecedented activity for these processes, allowing reactions to be performed at low catalyst levels, to prepare extremely hindered biaryls and to be carried out, in general, for reactions of aryl chlorides at room temperature. Additionally, structural studies of various 1.Pd complexes are presented along with computational data that help elucidate the efficacy that 1 imparts on Suzuki-Miyaura coupling processes. Moreover, a comparison of the reactions with 1 and with 2-(2',4',6'-triisopropylbiphenyl)diphenylphosphine (2) is presented that is informative in determining the relative importance of ligand bulk and electron-donating ability in the high activity of catalysts derived from ligands of this type. We present an accurate and fast wave tracking method that uses parametric representations of tracked fronts, combined with modifications of level set methods that use narrow bands. Our strategy generates accurate computations of the front curvature and other geometric properties of the front. We introduce data structures that can store discrete representations of the location of the moving fronts and boundaries, as well as the corresponding level set fields, that are designed to reduce computational overhead and memory storage. We present an algorithm we call stack sweeping to efficiently sort and store data that is used to represent orientable fronts. Our implementation features two reciprocal procedures, a forward ‘front parameterization’ that constructs a parameterization of a front given a level set field and a backward ‘field construction’ that constructs an approximation of the signed normal distance to the front, given a parameterized representation of the front. These reciprocal procedures are used to achieve and maintain high spatial accuracy. Close to the front, precise computation of the normal distance is carried out by requiring that displacement vectors from grid points to the front be along a normal direction. For front curves in two dimensions, a cubic interpolation scheme is used, and G 1 surface parameterization based on triangular patches is used for the three-dimensional implementation to compute the distances from grid points near the front. To demonstrate this new, high accuracy method we present validations and show examples of combustion-like applications that include detonation shock dynamics, material interface motions in a compressible multi-material simulation and the Stephan problem associated with dendrite solidification. 相似文献

We present an integrated algorithm on a Eulerian grid, for multimaterial simulations of energetic and inert materials modelled by non-ideal equations of state. We employ high-resolution shock capturing numerical algorithms for each material inside its domain and use an overlap domain method across the interface, maintained by a recently developed, hybrid, level-set algorithm. For applications to condensed explosives we implement a non-ideal, wide-ranging equation of state and reaction rate law. For inert materials, like plastic, metal, water, etc., we implement a (linear in the pressure) Mie–Grüneisen, (U p ?U s ), equation of state. We present a series of verifications of the integrated multimaterial code and show validations against experiment. We show examples of simulations of various experiments associated with real or planned experiments, some of which contain energetic materials (specifically the condensed explosives PBX-9502 and PBX-9501). 相似文献
