A new method for the determination of the 34S/32S ratio of water-extractable sulphate in soil is described. Soils are extracted directly with deionized water, which is evaporated down. The remaining residue is then rehydrated and transferred to tin cups containing an adsorbent and mixed with an oxygen donor (V2O5). Samples are then analysed using a continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometer. The new method requires around 10?g soil per determination, compared to much larger amounts (up to kilograms) of soil required for the previous methods. Sample preparation and subsequent analysis is quick and efficient. The method is demonstrated using a number of soils collected from around the world to provide a range of determined δ34S values. The δ34S values of water-extractable sulphur were broadly similar to those of the soil total sulphur. 相似文献

An investigation into the transmission spectrum of a ferroelectric liquid crystal device is undertaken. This is done both for an initial static state and during a switching process. Comparisons are made between experimental data and theoretical predictions. The dynamic internal director configurations in the device is shown to be consistent with a simple model during both monopolar and bipolar addressing pulses. 相似文献

Siloxane-modified sulfone-containing epoxy resins (ESBS) were prepared by polycondensation of PMPS and/or PDMS siloxane oligomers with EBS, the sulfone-containing epoxy resin. Structures were analyzed by IR, 1H-, and 13C-NMR. The siloxane content in the copolymers was determined by 1H-NMR with an integration technique. Epoxy equivalent weight (EEW) determination indicated that the oxirane ring of EBS was intact with this hot-melt procedure. The GPC measurement of these ESBS copolymers showed that molecular weight (MW) increased with increasing siloxane content in PMPS-modified copolymers. Non‐invasive and real‐time analysis of cellular redox processes has been greatly hampered by lack of suitable measurement techniques. Here we describe an in‐cell nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based method for measuring the intracellular glutathione redox potential by direct and quantitative measurement of isotopically labeled glutathione introduced exogenously into living yeast. A method for deflecting ions, such as K+, produced outside a Fourier-transform mass spectrometer cell during laser-induced thermal desorption, is described. This technique has been shown to deflect laser-generated K and Ti ions from two Ti foil samples (biomedical implant model surfaces), yielding mass spectra of coadsorbed organic species. Further studies characterizing the laser desorption/deflection parameters have shown that ion deflection improves with higher deflection voltages and greater sample to Fourier-transform mass spectrometry cell separation. Higher laser power densities resulted in greater surface ion production; hence higher deflection voltages were necessary. A 6% increase in laser power necessitated a fourfold increase in deflection voltage for the Ti sample. 相似文献

The condensation reaction of 2‐mercapto‐3‐methoxybenzaldehyde with 3‐aminopyridine afforded an unexpected N‐alkylated [1,5]dithiocine instead of the N‐salicylideneaniline. The proposed mechanism for this condensation involves a strong intramolecular hydrogen bond between the thiol and the amine groups, leading to a second condensation. The corresponding product, i.e. 4,10‐dimethoxy‐13‐(pyridin‐3‐yl)‐6H,12H‐6,12‐epiminodibenzo[b,f][1,5]dithiocine methanol 0.463‐solvate, C21H18N2O2S2·0.463CH3OH, was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis. The supramolecular structure shows π–π stacking and S…S interactions in the crystal packing. Within the asymmetric unit, two geometries of the N atom are observed. Although a planar geometry should be expected, a pyramidal one is observed due to the crystal packing. The presence of the two geometries was further supported by density functional theory (DFT) calculations that show an electronic energy difference of less than 2 kJ mol?1 between the two conformers. 相似文献
