In this study, we report on the self assembly behavior and on stability studies of mixed (chimeric) nanosystems consisting of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline)-grad-poly(2-phenyl-2-oxazoline) (MPOx) gradient copolymer in aqueous media and in fetal bovine serum (FBS). A gamut of light scattering techniques and fluorescence spectroscopy were used in order to extract information on the size and morphological characteristics of the nanoassemblies formed, as a function of gradient block copolymer content, as well as temperature. The hydrodynamic radii (R h) of nanoassemblies decreased in the process of heating up to 50 °C, while the fractal dimension (d f) values, also increased. Indomethacin was successfully incorporated into these chimeric nanocarriers. Drug release was depended on the components ratio. The present studies show that there are a number of parameters that can be used in order to alter the properties of chimeric nanosystems, and this is advantageous to the development of “smart” nanocarriers for drug delivery.  相似文献

We calculate numerically scattering phases for elastic meson-meson scattering processes in the strongly coupled massive Schwinger model with an SU(2) flavor symmetry. These calculations are based on Lüscher's method in which finite size effects in two-particle energies are exploited. The results from Monte Carlo simulations with staggered fermions for the lightest meson (“pion”) are in good agreement with the analytical strong-coupling prediction. Furthermore, the mass spectrum of low-lying mesonic states is investigated numerically. We find a surprisingly rich spectrum in the mass region [mπ, 4mπ].  相似文献

Thermoresponsive brush copolymers with poly(propylene oxide‐ran‐ethylene oxide) side chains were synthesized via a “grafting from” technique. Poly(p‐hydroxystyrene) was used as the backbone, and the brush copolymers were prepared by random copolymerization of mixtures of oxyalkylene monomers, using metal‐free anionic ring‐opening polymerization, with the phosphazene base (t‐BuP4) being the polymerization promoter. By controlling the monomer feed ratios in the graft copolymerization, two samples with the same side‐chain length and different compositions were prepared, both of which possessed high molecular weights and low molecular weight distributions. The results from light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy indicated that the brush copolymers in their dilute aqueous solutions were near completely solvated at low temperature and underwent slight intramolecular chain contraction/association and much more profound intermolecular aggregation at different stages of the step‐by‐step heating process. Above 50 °C, very turbid solutions, followed by macrophase separation, were observed for both of the samples, which implied that it was difficult for the brush copolymers to form stable nanoscopic aggregates at high temperature. All these observations were attributed, at least partly, to the distribution of the oxyalkylene monomers along the side chains and the overall brush‐like molecular architecture. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The central MnII ions in a series of calix[4]arene‐stabilised butterflies can be sequentially replaced with LnIII ions, maintaining the structural integrity of the molecule but transforming its magnetic properties. The replacement of MnII for GdIII allows for the examination of the transferability of spin‐Hamiltonian parameters within the family as well as permitting their reliable determination. The introduction of the 4f ions results in weaker intramolecular magnetic exchange, an increase in the number of low‐lying excited states, and an increase in magnetisation relaxation, highlighting the importance of exchange over single‐ion anisotropy for the observation of SMM behaviour in this family of complexes. The presence of the [TMII/III(TBC[4])(OH)(solvent)] metalloligand (TM=transition metal, TBC=ptBu‐calix[4]arene) suggests that magnetic calix[n]arene building blocks can be employed to encapsulate a range of different “guests” within structurally robust “hosts”.  相似文献

An investigation into the physical consequences of including a Jahn-Teller distorted Cu(II) ion within an antiferromagnetically coupled ring, [R(2)NH(2)][Cr(7)CuF(8)((O(2)C(t)Bu)(16))] is reported. Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic data are simulated using a microscopic spin Hamiltonian, and show that the two Cr-Cu exchange interactions must be inequivalent. One Cr-Cu exchange is found to be antiferromagnetic and the other ferromagnetic. The geometry of the Jahn-Teller elongation is deduced from these results, and shows that a Jahn-Teller elongation axis must lie in the plane of the Cr(7)Cu wheel; the elongation is not observed by X-ray crystallography, due to positional disorder of the Cu site within the wheel. An electronic structure calculation confirms the structural distortion of the Cu site.  相似文献

We report a detailed physical analysis on a family of isolated, antiferro-magnetically (AF) coupled, chromium(III) finite chains, of general formula (Cr(RCO(2))(2)F)(n) where the chain length n = 6 or 7. Additionally, the chains are capped with a selection of possible terminating ligands, including hfac (= l,l,l,5,5,5-hexafluoropentane-2,4-dionate(l-)), acac (= pentane-2,4-dionate(l-)) or (F)(3). Measurements by inelastic neutron scattering (INS), magnetometery and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy have been used to study how the electronic properties are affected by n and capping ligand type. These comparisons allowed the subtle electronic effects the choice of capping ligand makes for odd member spin 3/2 ground state and even membered spin 0 ground state chains to be investigated. For this investigation full characterisation of physical properties have been performed with spin Hamiltonian parameterisation, including the determination of Heisenberg exchange coupling constants and single ion axial and rhombic anisotropy. We reveal how the quantum spin energy levels of odd or even membered chains can be modified by the type of capping ligand terminating the chain. Choice of capping ligands enables Cr-Cr exchange coupling to be adjusted by 0, 4 or 24%, relative to Cr-Cr exchange coupling within the body of the chain, by the substitution of hfac, acac or (F)(3) capping ligands to the ends of the chain, respectively. The manipulation of quantum spin levels via ligands which play no role in super-exchange, is of general interest to the practise of spin Hamilton modelling, where such second order effects are generally not considered of relevance to magnetic properties.  相似文献

Anionic polymerization is the oldest known living/controlled polymerization methodology that leads to well defined macromolecules. It has been also used, with considerable success, for the synthesis of amphiphilic block copolymers (AmBC), a class of functional copolymers having interesting self-assembling properties and high potential for applications in various technological fields. The use of mild and effective post-polymerization functionalization/chemical modification reactions on block copolymers has substantially increased the synthetic capabilities of anionic polymerization methodologies, toward the creation of a variety of AmBC. In this feature article we review work done on these directions in the last ten years. Some perspectives and future work on this particular field of polymer science are also discussed.  相似文献

In the solid state, MnF(salen) forms chains wherein fairly linear fluoride bridges between high-spin Mn(III) centers are observed. We interpret the magnetic properties of these chains by use of the classical Fisher model and by use of the high-temperature expansion approach, as well as by exact matrix diagonalization of the spin Hamiltonian, of model rings. In solution, electron paramagnetic resonance shows the chains to be symmetrically cleaved to monomeric MnF(salen).  相似文献

The complexation of lysozyme and sodium (sulfamate carboxylate) isoprene/ethylene oxide (SCIEO) at pH = 7.4 and the release of lysozyme from the complexes in the presence of NaCl were investigated. Through electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions, lysozyme and SCIEO form stable complex nanoparticles. The complexation partially disturbs the structure of lysozyme. Some of the hydrophobic residues of lysozyme are exposed to bind with SCIEO. The complexation leads to loss of most of the lysozyme activity. In the presence of NaCl, lysozyme can be released from the complexes. The released lysozyme molecules recover their native structure and activity completely. In the condition of physiological pH and ionic strength, a sustained and extended release of lysozyme was achieved.

Complexes between sodium (sulfamate‐carboxylate)isoprene/ethylene oxide double hydrophilic block copolymers and lysozyme, a globular protein, were formed in aqueous solutions, at pH 7, because of electrostatic interactions between the anionic groups of the polyelectrolyte block of the copolymers and the cationic groups of lysozyme. The structure of the complexes was investigated as a function of the anionic/cationic charge ratio of the two components in solution and ionic strength by static, dynamic, and electrophoretic light scattering, atomic force microscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. The mass and size of the micellar‐like complexes depend on the mixing ratio and the molecular characteristics (molecular weight, composition, and architecture) of the copolymer used. Complexation persists at 0.15M NaCl, the value for physiological saline, as a result of additional hydrophobic interactions between the copolymers and the enzyme. Fluorescence spectroscopy measurements indicate that the secondary structure of lysozyme does not change substantially after complex formation. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
