We fabricated an electronically controlled polymer optical fiber cleaver, which uses a razor-blade guillotine and provides independent control of fiber temperature, blade temperature, and cleaving speed. To determine the optimum cleaving conditions of microstructured polymer optical fibers (mPOFs) with hexagonal hole structures we developed a program for cleaving quality optimization, which reads in a microscope image of the fiber end-facet and determines the core-shift and the statistics of the hole diameter, hole-to-hole pitch, hole ellipticity, and direction of major ellipse axis. For 125 μm in diameter mPOFs of the standard polymer PMMA we found the optimum temperatures to be 77.5 °C for both blade and fiber. For 280 μm in diameter mPOFs of the humidity insensitive polymer TOPAS® (grade 8007) the optimum temperature was 40° for both blade and fiber. A 100 μm thick flat-edge blade was found to minimize the core-shift by the cleaving to only 298 nm or 5% of the pitch for the PMMA mPOF at the optimal temperature.  相似文献

The use of natural compounds with biocidal activity to fight the growth of bacteria responsible for foodborne illness is one of the main research challenges in the food sector. This study reports the preparation and physicochemical characterization of chitosan nanoparticles loaded with Thymus capitatus (Th-CNPs) and Origanum vulgare (Or-CNPs) essential oils. The nanosystems were obtained by ionotropic gelation technique with high encapsulation efficiency (80–83%) and loading capacity (26–27%). Nanoparticles showed a spherical shape, bimodal particle size distribution, and good stability (zeta potential values > 40 mV). The treatment of the nanosuspensions at different temperatures (4 and 40 °C) and storage times (7, 15, 21, and 30 days) did not affect their physicochemical parameters and highlights their reservoir ability for essential oils also under stressful conditions. Both Or-CNPs and Th-CNPs exhibited an enhanced bactericidal activity against foodborne pathogens (S. aureus, E. coli, L. monocytogenes) than pure essential oils. These ecofriendly nanosystems could represent a valid alternative to synthetic preservatives and be of interest for health and food safety.  相似文献

New fluorescent succinimidyl benzazole derivatives were synthesised and successfully used to stain Candida albicans ATCC 10231 cells. The dyes were characterised by means of infrared, 13C and 1H NMR spectroscopies and elemental analysis. UV-Vis and steady-state fluorescence in solution were also applied to characterise their photophysical behaviour. The novel dyes were fluorescent in the yellow-green region by a phototautomerism in the excited state (ESIPT) with a large Stokes shift (9065-10962 cm−1). Dual fluorescence could also be observed depending on the solvent polarity. The present dyes were used as new probes by means of culture methodology or direct staining to study the micromorphology of Candida albicans.  相似文献

Precise modelling of infrared absorption by carbon dioxide is of primary importance for radiative transfer calculations in CO2-rich atmospheres like those of Venus and Mars. Despite various measurements and theoretical models dedicated to this subject, accurate data at different temperatures and pressures are still lacking in numerous spectral regions. In this work, using two Fourier Transform Spectrometers, we have measured spectra of pure CO2 in a large spectral region range, from 750 to 8500 cm−1 at various densities (3-57 amagat) and temperatures (230-473 K). Comparisons between measured dipolar absorption bands and spectra calculated with the widely used Lorentz line shape show very large discrepancies. This result is expected since the Lorentz approach neglects line-coupling effects due to intermolecular collisions which transfer absorption from the wings to the band center. In order to account for this effect, a theoretical approach based on the impact and Energy Corrected Sudden approximations has been developed. Comparisons of this model with numerous laboratory spectra in a wide range of pressure, temperature and spectral domain show satisfactory agreements for band centers and near wing regions where the impact approximation is valid. However, as expected, due to the breakdown of the impact approximation, the model fails when considering far wing regions. In the absence of precise models accounting for line-mixing and finite collision duration (non impact) effects, empirical approximations are proposed in order to model the far wings.  相似文献

Organic light‐emitting transistors (OLETs) are multifunctional optoelectronic devices that hold great promise for a variety of applications, including flat panel displays, integrated light sources for sensing and optical communication systems. The narrow illumination area within the device channel is considered intrinsic to the device architecture and is a severe technological drawback for all those applications where a controlled, wide and homogeneous emission area is required. Here it is shown that not only the position but also the extension of the emission area is voltage‐tunable, and the entire channel of the transistor can be homogeneously illuminated. The modeling of the exciton distribution within the channel at the different bias conditions coupled to the modeling of the device emission profile highlights that excitons are spread through the entire channel width and across the bulk of the central emission layer of the p‐channel/emitter/n‐channel trilayer active heterostructure.  相似文献
