Filamentous fungi synthesize natural products as an ecological function. In this study, an interesting indigenous fungus producing orange pigment exogenously was investigated in detail as it possesses additional attributes along with colouring properties. An interesting fungus was isolated from a dicot plant, Maytenus rothiana. After a detailed study, the fungal isolate turned out to be a species of Gonatophragmium belonging to the family Acrospermaceae. Based on the morphological, cultural, and sequence-based phylogenetic analysis, the identity of this fungus was confirmed as Gonatophragmium triuniae. Although this fungus grows moderately, it produces good amounts of pigment on an agar medium. The fermented crude extract isolated from G. triuniae has shown antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 0.99 mg/mL and antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria (with MIC of 3.91 μg/mL against Bacillus subtilis, and 15.6 μg/mL and 31.25 μg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus and Micrococcus luteus, respectively). Dyeing of cotton fabric mordanted with FeSO4 using crude pigment was found to be satisfactory based on visual observation, suggesting its possible use in the textile industry. The orange pigment was purified from the crude extract by preparative HP-TLC. In addition, UV-Vis, FTIR, HRMS and NMR (1H NMR, 13C NMR), COSY, and DEPT analyses revealed the orange pigment to be “1,2-dimethoxy-3H-phenoxazin-3-one” (C14H11NO4, m/z 257). To our understanding, the present study is the first comprehensive report on Gonatophragmium triuniae as a potential pigment producer, reporting “1,2-dimethoxy-3H-phenoxazin-3-one” as the main pigment from the crude hexane extract. Moreover, this is the first study reporting antioxidant, antibacterial, and dyeing potential of crude extract of G. triuniae, suggesting possible potential applications of pigments and other bioactive secondary metabolites of the G. triuniae in textile and pharmaceutical industry. 相似文献

Four kidney stones collected from patients being treated in the Advance Urology Centre of PGIMR, Chandigarh were characterized using instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. For INAA, samples were irradiated in tray rod facility of Dhruva reactor, Mumbai and pneumatic fast transfer system of KAMINI reactor, IGCAR, Kalpakkam. Radioactive assay was carried out using HPGe detector coupled to 8k channel analyzer. Elements determined in the samples by INAA are Zn, Sr, Co, Fe, Cr, Sc, Se, Na and Mn. EDXRF was used for the quantification of Ca. XRD patterns showed that three of the kidney stones are calcium oxalate stone and the other one is uric acid stone. The concentrations of trace elements in general were found to be higher in calcium oxalate stones and positive correlation was observed in the concentrations of Ca with Sr and Zn. 相似文献

Nickel ferrite is a soft magnetic material with inverse spinel structure. Soft ferrite films are used in microwave devices, integrated planar circuits, etc., because of their high resistivity. In this work, thin films of nickel ferrite were deposited on Si (100) substrate by using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The thickness of the film was measured by surface profilometer and also by X‐ray reflectivity (XRR). The films were annealed at three different temperatures to observe the effect on the structural and magnetic properties of the film. The films were characterised by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) to study the structural and magnetic properties. This paper investigates switching of one beam by another in a Kerr type nonlinear Mach–Zehnder interferometer (NMZI) with two input ports and one output port. The present investigation has been carried out using the beam propagation method (BPM). The paper presents a detailed account on the procedures used to choose the parameters of the NMZI to make it behave like a NOT gate (inverter), an AND gate, an amplifier and a wavelength converter. The paper also gives details on the manipulation of the operating inputs of the NMZI to desired values. It is shown that the operating values of both the inputs of the NMZI can simultaneously be increased/decreased by decreasing/increasing the nonlinearity coefficient of nonlinear arm of the NMZI. Variation of NMZI length varies the operating value of only the first input, keeping the second unchanged, while variation of NMZI offset varies the operating value of only the second, keeping the first unchanged. The paper also gives a detailed account on amplification of the NMZI amplifier/wavelength converter. The present investigation is useful from the scientific as well as engineering point of view. 相似文献

We fabricated high-mobility field-effect transistors based on epitaxial graphene synthesized by vacuum graphitization of both the Si- and C-faces of SiC. Room-temperature field-effect mobilities >4000 cm2/V s for both electrons and holes were achieved, although with wide distributions. By using a high-k gate dielectric, we were able to measure the transistor characteristics in a wide carrier density range, where the mobility is seen to decrease as the carrier density increases. We formulate a simple semiclassical model of electrical transport in graphene, and explain the sublinear dependence of conductivity on carrier density from the view point of the few-layer graphene energy band structure. Our analysis reveals important differences between the few-layer graphene energy dispersions on the SiC Si- and C-faces, providing the first evidence based on electrical device characteristics for the theoretically proposed energy dispersion difference between graphene synthesized on these two faces of SiC. 相似文献

In the present work zinc ferrite nanoparticles of different crystallite size were irradiated with 200 MeV Ag15+ ion beam. The structural and magnetic characterization performed for these samples indicate the presence of size dependent irradiation induced changes in the nanoparticles. The superparamgnetic nanoparticles do not alter their behavior after irradiation; however paramagnetic samples exhibit weak ferrimagnetism in the irradiated specimen. Results obtained from these measurements are in agreement with results obtained from the electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. 相似文献

Amorphous ribbons of different thicknesses of Co64.5Fe3.5Si16B14Ni2 alloy were synthesized using the melt spinning technique by varying wheel speed. The effect of cooling rate on the ribbon thickness and their soft magnetic properties have been studied. The amorphous structure has been characterized in terms of structural free volume and medium range order (MRO) by positron annihilation spectroscopy and fluctuation electron microscopy techniques. Positron lifetime spectra of amorphous samples showed two lifetime components. The first component was found to be correlated with MRO whereas, the second lifetime component was found to be associated with nanovoid type of defects, and the second component was strongly dependent on processing conditions. It could be established that the coercivity of the amorphous samples produced by the rapid solidification technique mainly depends on the defects formed during processing rather than change induced in MRO. 相似文献
