Abstract A single crystal study on AlPO4 was performed at 2.90 GPa with synchrotron radiation with a wavelength of only 0.54 ?. The diffracted intensity was high enough to measure even weak reflections with sufficient counting statistics. However, the search for the reflections needed to setup the orientation matrix required a lot of beamtime. A feasibility study was carried out using a proportional area counter to reduce this search time. The results demonstrate that such counters can considerably reduce the time needed for the orientation of the crystal and the data collection. The demineralization of enamel that is associated with early caries formation affects the optical properties of the enamel.
Polarized Raman spectroscopy and optical coherence tomography have been used to detect these changes and potentially offer
a means to detect and monitor early caries development. The total optical attenuation coefficient as measured by optical coherence
tomography and the polarization anisotropy of the Raman peak arising from the symmetric ν1 vibration of at approximately 959 cm−1 have been demonstrated as being sensitive markers of early caries. This ex vivo study on extracted human teeth demonstrates
that these measurements can be made with reasonable precision with concomitantly good repeatability and reproducibility in

In the first part of this study, the stability of five terpenes (alpha-pinene, limonene, camphor, citronellol, and carvacrol) under subcritical water conditions was investigated. The stability studies were carried out at four different temperatures (100, 150, 200, and 250 degrees C) with two different heating times (30 and 300 min). When water temperature was increased, the degradation of terpenes became more serious. Prolonged exposure time to each heating temperature also caused decreased terpene stability. The terpene recoveries were determined by conducting subcritical water extraction of sand spiked with terpenes. The recoveries are typically around 70 to 80% for extractions at 100 degrees C. Terpene recoveries were decreased with increasing water temperature due to poorer stability of terpenes. After the degradation and recovery studies, basil and oregano leaves were extracted using water at both 100 and 150 degrees C. The concentrations of each individual terpene in the water extract generally ranged from trace quantity to 65 microg terpene/g herb. However, the concentration of carvacrol in the oregano-water extract at 150 degrees C was found to be as high as 4270 microg carvacrol/g oregano. 相似文献

The title compound, [Mn2(μ‐O)(C6H3NO3)2(C5H5N)4]·H2O, was isolated from the reaction of 2,6‐pyridinedicarboxylic acid with [Mn12O12(CH3COO)16(H2O)4] in pyridine. The dimanganese complex has twofold symmetry; the MnIII atoms are bridged by one oxo and two amidate ligands and show compressed octahedral Jahn–Teller distortion. The molecular packing comprises a three‐dimensional structure constructed by means of extensive intermolecular interactions, including three kinds of hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions. 相似文献

Flavoprotein monooxygenases are a versatile group of enzymes for biocatalytic transformations. Among these, group E monooxygenases (GEMs) catalyze enantioselective epoxidation and sulfoxidation reactions. Here, we describe the crystal structure of an indole monooxygenase from the bacterium Variovorax paradoxus EPS, a GEM designated as VpIndA1. Complex structures with substrates reveal productive binding modes that, in conjunction with force-field calculations and rapid mixing kinetics, reveal the structural basis of substrate and stereoselectivity. Structure-based redesign of the substrate cavity yielded variants with new substrate selectivity (for sulfoxidation of benzyl phenyl sulfide) or with greatly enhanced stereoselectivity (from 35.1 % to 99.8 % ee for production of (1S,2R)-indene oxide). This first determination of the substrate binding mode of GEMs combined with structure-function relationships opens the door for structure-based design of these powerful biocatalysts. 相似文献
