We demonstrate a 300?μm long silicon photonic crystal (PC) slot waveguide device for on-chip near-infrared absorption spectroscopy, based on the Beer-Lambert law for the detection of methane gas. The device combines slow light in a PC waveguide with high electric field intensity in a low-index 90?nm wide slot, which effectively increases the optical absorption path length. A methane concentration of 100?ppm (parts per million) in nitrogen was measured.  相似文献

The recent introduction of NMR spectrometers with multiple receivers permits spectra from several different nuclear species to be recorded in parallel, and several standard pulse sequences to be combined into a single entity. It is shown how these improvements in the flow and quality of spectral information can be significantly augmented by compressive sensing techniques--controlled aliasing, Hadamard spectroscopy, single-point evaluation of evolution space (SPEED), random sampling, projection-reconstruction, and hyperdimensional NMR. Future developments of these techniques are confidently expected to mitigate one of the most serious limitations in multidimensional NMR--the excessive duration of the measurements.  相似文献

We present a determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa parameter |V(us)| based on new measurements of the six largest K(L) branching fractions and semileptonic form factors by the KTeV (E832) experiment at Fermilab. We find |V(us)|=0.2252+/-0.0008(KTeV)+/-0.0021(ext), where the errors are from KTeV measurements and from external sources. We also use the measured branching fractions to determine the CP violation parameter |eta(+-)|=(2.228+/-0.005(KTeV)+/-0.009(ext))x10(-3).  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy has been used to study the arsenate minerals haidingerite Ca(AsO3OH)·H2O and brassite Mg(AsO3OH)·4H2O. Intense Raman bands in the haidingerite spectrum observed at 745 and 855 cm−1 are assigned to the (AsO3OH)2−ν3 antisymmetric stretching and ν1 symmetric stretching vibrational modes. For brassite, two similarly assigned intense bands are found at 809 and 862 cm−1. The observation of multiple Raman bands in the (AsO3OH)2− stretching and bending regions suggests that the arsenate tetrahedrons in the crystal structures of both minerals studied are strongly distorted. Broad Raman bands observed at 2842 cm−1 for haidingerite and 3035 cm−1 for brassite indicate strong hydrogen bonding of water molecules in the structure of these minerals. In order to explain the large pressure dependence of the cubic to tetragonal transition temperature TM in LaAg an expression has been derived from ?TM/?P for a two-fold degenerate electronic band interacting with the tetragonal strain mode. Analogy with the pressure dependence of the ferromagnetic transition temperature Tc in an itinerant system is pointed out. The nature of variation of the superconducting transition temperature with pressure is also discussed.  相似文献

A method for the direct gravimetric determination of osmium with 1:2:3-benzotriazole in acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer is presented. The method is accurate and reproducible, and the conditions used in the determination are not critical. The precipitate is a stoichiometric compound which is stable from room temperature up to 200°. It appears that 1:2:3-benzotriazole is probably the first organic reagent to be used successfully in the direct gravimetric determination of osmium.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The yield drop phenomenon observed in the Ti–15V-3Al–3Sn-3Cr (Ti–15–3) beta-titanium alloy and its anomalous behaviour in the boron and carbon added Ti–15–3 alloys have been studied. While the base and the carbon containing alloys exhibit yield drop, the boron containing alloy with smaller grain size than base alloy does not appear to show this phenomenon. Tensile tests were interrupted at different stress levels followed by analyses of slip lines and sub-structural characteristics using scanning and transmission electron microscopes to understand this anomalous yield point phenomenon. Infrared thermal imaging technique was used to map the strain localisation and the spatiotemporal evolution of deformation along the gauge length of the specimens during the tensile tests. Deformation in these alloys initiates only in a few grains. Pile-up of dislocations in these grains subsequently triggers the formation of dislocations in other grains and their rapid multiplications. The spreading of deformation by the generation of dislocations from pile up dislocations in one grain to neighbouring un-deformed grains and their rapid multiplication to new regions influence the yield drop phenomenon and its characteristics. It is shown in this study that microscopic instability in the grain level is a necessary, but not the sufficient condition for the manifestation of macroscopic instability during tensile deformation in polycrystalline materials. The presence of boride particles at grain boundaries restricts the slip transfer across the grains as well as the spreading of deformation to new regions, which causes the suppression of yield drop in the boron containing alloy.  相似文献

Two classes of molecules displaying singlet-triplet biradical bistability (i.e. species having significant biradicaloid properties) can be designed as follows. Alternant conjugated polycyclic hydrocarbons with numerous fixed double bonds (double bonds that remain unchanged in all its Kekulé resonance structures), a large number of Dewar resonance structures which measures the corresponding diradical resonance, and a small HOMO-LUMO band gap which measures the ease of thermal spin inversion are candidates for singlet triplet biradical bistability. Chichibabin's hydrocarbon ( 1 ) is an example. In addition, in the search for candidate molecules having singlet triplet bistability, one should also examine polycyclic conjugated systems having nonalternant induced spin frustration. Spin frustrated nonalternant polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbons will display singlet-triplet bistability (biradicaloid properties) and are generated from alternant valence-bond diradicals or Hückel molecular orbital diradicals having classical Kekulé structures by appropriate intramolecular joining of two starred or nonstarred positions with bonds, respectively.  相似文献
