The electrical properties of Cu2Te

The conductivity, Hall effect, and thermo-emf are reported for thin films and polycrystalline bulk specimens of Cu₂Te, which is found to be an impurity semiconductor whose forbidden band has a width of 0.9–1.0 eV. The compound dissociates on vacuum evaporation, so it is very difficult to produce thin films.I am indebted to Professor D. N. Naskedov for his interest and for valuable comments.     

Isotopic shifts and the hyperfine structure of the samarium spectral lines at 672 and 686 nm

Spectra of saturated absorption of Sm atomic vapor from the ground state ⁷ F ₀ and the first even metastable level ⁷ F ₁, ε′=292.58 cm^?1 of the 4f ⁶6s ² configuration to the odd level 4_f ⁶(⁷ F)6s6p(³ P ^o)⁹ F ₁ ^o , ε,=14863.85 cm^?1 were recorded. The lines of the isotopic series were identified, and the hyperfine structure of lines in the spectra of isotopes with a nonzero nuclear spin was determined. The relative isotopic shifts and the hyperfine splitting of the even level 4f ⁶6s ²(⁷ F ₁) were determined.     

Magnetic Behaviour of Tb/Si Nanoscale Multilayers with Small Thickness of Rare Earth Layers

We report the magnetic properties of Tb/Si multilayers obtained by rf-sputtering at the Tb layer thickness LTb = 3 nm. Analysis of the magnetization processes indicates more complex behaviour than canonical spinglass transition. It is more probable that these multilayers contain both Tb superparamagnetic particles and Tb-Si spin-glass alloys.     

Electrochemical analysis of the structure and formation kinetics of a porous anodic aluminum oxide

A technique is proposed for an electrochemical study of the morphology of porous anodic aluminum oxide films. The technique involves an analysis of anodic polarization curves recorded while linearly increasing potential. A phenomenological model describing the experimental curves is developed. The method may be used for studying the film formation kinetics

Anion transfer in ZrO2 and HfO2 bicrystals containing 12 mol % Y2O3

The oxygen-ionic conduction in the YSZ|YSZ and YSZ|YSH bicrystals, where YSZ and YSH are single-crystalline solid solutions of, respectively, ZrO₂ and HfO₂ with 12 mol % Y₂O₃ are studied using the impedance method. Bicrystals consist of two single crystals separated by a common intercrystalline boundary. The direction of the applied electrical field is chosen perpendicular to the intercrystalline boundary. The oxygen-ion transfer in the bicrystals is determined primarily by the transport processes in the bulk single crystals. This is associated with a fast exchange by oxygen vacancies between single crystals at the intercrystalline boundary.
