During the recycling of exhausted lead-acid battery, large amount of wastewater is discharged, which contains the toxic Pb(II) ions in high concentration. In this study, the granular activated carbon after modification with sulfuric acid has been used to remove the Pb(II) ions from this wastewater. Adsorbents were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared, Scanning Electron Microscope, and X-Ray Diffraction analyzer. Taguchi orthogonal L16 array (4^3) was used for batch adsorption study with four levels of three factors initial pH, adsorbent dose, and contact time. Optimum level of parameters was fourty + nd pH 4.5, time 240 min, and dose 0.05 g/50 mL using signal-to-noise ratio (larger-the-better response). Analysis of variance technique was used to signify the adsorption experiment model. The effect of parameters on uptake capacity of adsorbent has been evaluated. Maximum adsorbent capacity for Pb(II) uptake from wastewater of battery recycling unit was found 8.19 mg/g after modification with sulfuric acid. To further understand the mechanism of adsorption, isotherm and kinetic studies were carried out. Experimental data were well fitted with Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The study suggested that H2SO4 modified granular activated carbon can be potentially used to remove Pb(II) from lead-acid battery recycle wastewater. 相似文献

the sequential induction of EG isoforms was found to be associated with the presence of distinct metabolites (monosaccharides/oligosaccharides)

expression of multiple EGs. Addition of fructose and cellobiose to corn cobs containing medium during shake flask culture
resulted in up-regulation of EG activity, whereas addition of mannitol, ethanol and glycerol selectively repressed the expression
of three EG isoforms (Ia, Ic and Id). The observed regulation profile of βG isoforms was distinct when compared to EG isoforms,

The synthesis, biocidal activity, and spectroscopic data of a new series of S-phosphorylated/thiophosphorylated derivatives of 2-(2′-mercaptophenyl) benzothiazole are reported in this study. Derivatives were prepared by reacting 2-(2′-mercaptophenyl) benzothiazole with phosphorus oxychloride/phosphorus thiochloride in different molar ratios [1:1, 2:1, 3:1]. We report the biomacromolecular self-assembly of histidine acid phosphatase (HAP), an enzyme of significant biomedical and industrial importance, in the ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][BF(4)]). The spontaneous self-assembly of HAP enzyme in [BMIM][BF(4)] results in the formation of HAP nanocapsules. The HAP enzyme molecules were found to retain their enzymatic activity after the self-assembly process, which enabled us to utilize self-assembled HAP capsules as self-catalyzing templates for the synthesis of a range of hollow metal nanoparticles (Au, Ag, Pd, and Ni) without employing any additional reducing agent. The hollow metal nanospheres with HAP encapsulated within their cavity were found to retain enzymatic activity for at least up to four cycles, as demonstrated in the case of Au-coated HAP capsules as the model system. 相似文献

The ternary phase diagram of the amphiphilic triblock copolymer PEO-PPO-PEO ((EO)(20)(PO)(70)(EO)(20) commercialized under the generic name P123), water, and ethanol has been investigated at constant temperature (T = 23 degrees C) by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The microstructure resulting from the self-assembly of the PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymer varies from micelles in solution to various types of liquid crystalline phases such as cubic, 3D hexagonal close packed spheres (HCPS), 2D hexagonal, and lamellar when the concentration of the polymer is increased. In the isotropic liquid phase, the micellar structural parameters are obtained as a function of the water-ethanol ratio and block copolymer concentration by fitting the scattering data to a model involving core-shell form factor and a hard sphere structure factor of interaction. The micellar core, the aggregation number, and the hard sphere interaction radius decrease when increasing the ethanol/water ratio in the mixed solvent. We show that the fraction of ethanol present in the core is responsible for the swelling of the PPO blocks. In the different liquid crystalline phases, structural parameters such as lattice spacing, interfacial area of PEO block, and aggregation number are also evaluated. In addition to classical phases such as lamellar, 2D hexagonal, and liquid isotropic phases, we have observed a two-phase region in which cubic Fm3m and P6(3)mmc (hexagonally close packing of spheres (HCPS)) phases coexist. This appears at 30% (w/w) of P123 in pure water and with 5% (w/w) of ethanol. At 10% (w/w) ethanol, only the HCPS phase remains present. 相似文献

The development, validation and evaluation of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for quantifying mycophenolic acid in human plasma is described. The method involved protein precipitation using acetonitrile, after addition of terazosin as an internal standard. Separation was achieved with a reversed-phase C18 column (250 mm x 4.6 mm) employing UV detection at 215 nm. The mobile phase consisted of 0.02 M potassium dihydrogenphosphate solution adjusted to pH 6.9 with 2 M potassium hydroxide solution-acetonitrile (80:20 (v/v)) at a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min. The total run time was 21.0 min. The assay was linear from 0.2 to 25 microg/ml with goodness of fit (r2) greater than 0.99 observed with three precision and accuracy batches during validation. The observed mean recoveries were 89.3 and 98.0% for drug and internal standard, respectively. The applicability of this method to pharmacokinetic studies was established after successful application during a 34-subject bioavailability study. Abstract— The acetone-sensitized irradiation using UV-B (ultraviolet light, 280–320 nm; sunlamps) of thymidyl-yl(3'→5')deoxyfluorouridine monophosphate produces two main photoproducts. The distribution of these photo-products is dependent on the pH of the irradiation solution. At pH 6, the cis-syn cyclobutane-type photodimer is the major product, whereas at high pH (8–10) a photoadduct is the major product. These photoproducts have been identified and structurally characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy. The photoadduct arises from defluorination of the 5-fluorouracil moiety. The structure of the photoadduct maintains the sugar-phosphate backbone of the starting material (d-TpF), and contains a saturated thymine moiety with an added Thy(C6-hydroxyl) and a Thy(C5)-(C5)Ura covalent bond. 相似文献

The structure–function relationship, especially the origin of absorption and emission of light in carbon nanodots (CNDs), has baffled scientists. The multilevel complexity arises due to the large number of by-products synthesized during the bottom-up approach. By performing systematic purification and characterization, we reveal the presence of a molecular fluorophore, quinoxalino[2,3-b]phenazine-2,3-diamine (QXPDA), in a large amount (∼80% of the total mass) in red emissive CNDs synthesized from o-phenylenediamine (OPDA), which is one of the well-known precursor molecules used for CND synthesis. The recorded NMR and mass spectra tentatively confirm the structure of QXPDA. The close resemblance of the experimental vibronic progression and the mirror symmetry of the absorption and emission spectra with the theoretically simulated spectra confirm an extended conjugated structure of QXPDA. Interestingly, QXPDA dictates the complete emission characteristics of the CNDs; in particular, it showed a striking similarity of its excitation independent emission spectra with that of the original synthesized red emissive CND solution. On the other hand, the CND like structure with a typical size of ∼4 nm was observed under a transmission electron microscope for a blue emissive species, which showed both excitation dependent and independent emission spectra. Interestingly, Raman spectroscopic data showed the similarity between QXPDA and the dot structure thus suggesting the formation of the QXPDA aggregated core structure in CNDs. We further demonstrated the parallelism in trends of absorption and emission of light from a few other red emissive CNDs, which were synthesized using different experimental conditions.Herein we unveil the presence of a molecular fluorophore quinoxalino[2,3-b]phenazine-2,3-diamine (QXPDA) in a colossal amount in red emissive CNDs synthesized from o-phenylenediamine, a well-known precursor molecule used for CND synthesis. 相似文献
