In vivo metabolism study of bergenin in rats by HPLC‐QTOF mass spectrometry

Bergenin is the major component of Ardisia creanta sims and Rodgersia sambucifolia hemsl with many biological activities. Although bergenin has been used to treat human diseases in China for man years, there is no report regarding its metabolism. This is the first report to separate and identify the metabolites of bergenin in vivo. In the study, HPLC/Q‐TOF‐MS/MS was used to investigate the metabolites of bergenin in vivo by analyzing the rat body fluid and feces samples. Three metabolites of bergenin were finally identified by the TIC chromatograms, and the structures were also confirmed by their MS² spectra. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

石墨烯的边界效应在电化学生物传感器中的应用

石墨烯是由底面和边界组成的,这种独特的结构赋予石墨烯很多特殊的性质,如边界上的异相电子转移速率、电容量、局域态密度和结构缺陷、功能性基团等均高于石墨烯的底面,这些固有特征对石墨烯的电化学性能有极大的促进作用,是边界效应的具体体现。本文在阐述石墨烯电化学性能边界效应的基础上,对具有不同形貌特征的石墨烯,如石墨烯纳米片、纳米毯、片晶、纳米墙、纳米纤维、纳米带、量子点等在电化学生物传感领域的具体应用进行了综述和展望。     

3,4-Dinitrobenzamide Functionalized CdTe/ZnTe Quantum Dots as a Nanoprobe for Imaging Glutathione S-Transferase in Living Cells

A novel fluorescent nanoprobe for glutathione S‐transferase (GST) has been developed by incorporating 3,4‐dinitrobenzamide (a specific substrate of GST) onto CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots. The probe itself displays a low background signal due to the strong quenching effect of the electron‐withdrawing unit of 3,4‐dinitrobenzamide on the quantum dots. However, GST can efficiently catalyze the nucleophilic substitution of reduced glutathione on the p‐nitro group of the nanoprobe, leading to a large fluorescence enhancement. Most notably, this enhancement shows high selectivity and sensitivity towards GST instead of the other biological substances. With this nanoprobe, a simple fluorescence imaging method for intracellular GST has been established, and its applicability has been successfully demonstrated for imaging GST in different living cells, which reveals that A549 cells express GST about 3 times higher than NIH‐3T3 and Hela cells.     

Immobilized complexes of the salen Schiff’s base with metal as oxidation catalysts

The immobilized metal complexes with the Schiff’s base of salen have shown high catalytic activity in oxidation of alkenes, cycloalkenes, and alcohols as compared with their unsupported analogs. Due to the heterogeneous nature of such catalysts, their separation and recycling is rather simple.     

支化高分子在溶液中的交叠与缠结

溶液中高分子的交叠和缠结与其链结构密切相关。支化聚苯乙烯的临界交叠浓度C和临界缠结浓度C_E比分子量相同的线型聚苯乙烯的大,说明交叠和缠结同分子在溶液中线团的体积有直接关系。     

Determination of some reactive oxygen species scavengers based on the peroxidase-oxidase oscillator

This paper reports a new method for detection of ROS scavengers including superoxide dismutase, ascorbic acid and glutathione based on a 'probe' of peroxidase-oxidase biochemical oscillator. The oscillation period and amplitude change with different concentrations of scavengers. The linear ranges of superoxide dismutase, ascorbic acid and glutathione are respectively 1.56 x 10(-4)-1.56 x 10(-3) mg mL(-1), 1.75 x 10(-7)-1.75 x 10(-5) mol L(-1) and 9.38 x 10(-7)-7.5 x 10(-5) mol L(-1). The selectivity, linearity and precision for superoxide dismutase, ascorbic acid, and glutathione are presented and discussed. The results compared well with other standard methods for determination of superoxide dismutase, ascorbic acid and glutathione. Some possible steps in the overall reaction mechanisms are discussed.     

Total synthesis of methyl protodioscin: a potent agent with antitumor activity

Methyl protodioscin (1), otherwise known as 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->2)-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)]-beta-d-glucopyranosyl]-26-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-22-methoxy-25(R)-furost-5-ene-3 beta,26-diol, has been synthesized for the first time from diosgenin through nine steps in an overall yield of 7.8%.     

Selective binding of steroids by 2,2'-biquinoline-4,4'-dicarboxamide-bridged bis(beta-cyclodextrin): fluorescence enhancement by guest inclusion

A novel bis(beta-cyclodextrin) was synthesized, and its binding behavior with steroids was investigated to demonstrate that the cooperative co-inclusion of guest and tether by two cyclodextrin moieties is operative to afford the highest molecular selectivity of up to 3.6 for deoxycholate over taurocholate.
