A novel hexadentate nitrogen donor [N6] macrocyclic ligand viz, 1,5,11,15,21,22-hexaaza-2,14-dimethyl-l4,12-diphenyltricyclo[15.3.1.I(7–11)]docosane[1,4,6,8,10(22)-11,14,16,18,20(21)]decaene
(L), has been synthesised. The Co (II), Ni (II), and Cu (II) complexes with this ligand have been prepared and subjected to
elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, 1H NMR (ligand), IR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies and electrochemical investigation. On the basis of molar conductance
the complexes can be formulated as [M(L)]X2 (where M = Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and X = Cl− and NO3−) due to their 1: 2 electrolytic nature in DMSO. All the complexes are of the high-spin type and are six-coordinated. On the
basis of IR, electronic, and ESR spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes,
whereas a tetragonal geometry for the Cu(II) complexes was found. Antimicrobial activity of L and its complexes as growth
inhibiting agents have been screened in vitro against two species (F. moniliformae and R. solani) of plant pathogenic fungi.

Highly enhanced nonlinear absorption cross section values of C60(>DPAF-C2M), C60(>DPAF-C9), and C60(>DPAF-C10) dyads were detected up to 5400, 9700, and 14000 GM, respectively, in the 2.0 ps region in toluene at the concentration of 1.5 x 10(-3) M. They were correlated to a trend showing higher efficiency in light transmittance attenuation down to 39-46% for the dyads C60(>DPAF-C10) and C60(>DPAF-C9) with the increase of irradiance intensity up only to 140 GW/cm(2). The phenomena were attributed to additional enhancement on the excited-state absorption of (1)C60*(>DPAF-Cn ) in the subpicosecond to picosecond region over the two-photon absorption of C60(>DPAF-Cn ) in the femtosecond region. Its accumulative 2.0 ps absorption cross sections were estimated to be 8900 GM for (1)C60*(>DPAF-C9), roughly one order of magnitude higher than its intrinsic femtosecond 2PA cross sections. 相似文献

Antioxidative and hepatoprotective activity of a cultured lichen Usnea ghattensis has been studied. The methanolic extract of cultured lichen U. ghattensis showed good antioxidant activity by preventing lipid peroxidation by 67% and 86% in Trolox-equivalent antioxidant capacity at 20 microg/ml. It also showed superoxide, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, nitric oxide, and hydroxyl radical-scavenging activity, 89%, 89.6%, 94.8%, and 89.6%, respectively, and found levels higher then that known for the synthetic antioxidants butylated hydroxytoluene, butylated hydroxyanisol, and quercetin at 20 microg/ml concentration. The cultured lichen extract also showed hepatoprotection against ethanol-induced toxicity in the mice liver slice culture model by a significant decrease in the antioxidant enzymes, glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase, along with a decrease in lipid peroxidation and lactate dehydrogenase release. 相似文献

This study describes the use of peptide vesicular platforms for the templated growth of fibrillar structures to craft hybrids that retain the gross morphological features of two discreet self-assembled peptides. A synthetic triskelion peptide, which results in the rapid emergence of self-assembled spherical structures, was employed as a template. Addition of either one of two different peptides, both of which form long filamentous structures when co-incubated with the triskelion solution, affords hybrids that retain the gross morphology of both the spherical and filamentous structures. It is surmised that this process is aided by hydrogen bonding and the interdigitation of aromatic residues, which leads to the growth of hybrid structures. We believe that observations concerning the surface-assisted growth of peptide fibrils and tubular structures from vesicular platforms may have ramifications for the design and development of peptide-based hybrid materials with controlled hierarchical structures. 相似文献

The sterically hindered Fe(II) thiolate dimer Fe(2)(mu-STriph)(2)(STriph)(2) (1; [STriph](-) = 2,4,6-triphenylbenzenethiolate) reacts with primary amines ((t)BuNH(2), aniline) and N(2)H(4) to form the structurally characterized addition complexes Fe(STriph)(2)(NH(2)(t)Bu)(2), Fe(2)(mu-STriph)(2)(STriph)(2)(NH(2)Ph)(2), and Fe(2)(mu-eta(1):eta(1)-N(2)H(4))(2)(N(2)H(4))(4)(STriph)(4) in high yield. Chemical and NMR spectroscopic evidence indicate that the binding of these nitrogen donors is labile in solution and multispecies equilibria are likely. With arylhydrazines, 1 catalytically disproportionates 1,2-diphenylhydrazine to aniline and azobenzene, and it rearranges 1-methyl-1,2-diarylhydrazines to give, after treatment with alumina, mononuclear, trigonal bipyramidal Fe(III) complexes of composition Fe(ISQ)(2)(STriph), where [ISQ](-) denotes an appropriately substituted bidentate o-diiminobenzosemiquinonate ligand. The reaction of Cu(ClO4)2. 6H2O with t-BuP(O)(OH)2 and 3,5-(CF3)2PzH in the presence of triethylamine afforded the dodecanuclear cage ([Et3NH]2[Cu12(mu-3,5-(CF3)2Pz)6(mu3-OH)6(mu-OH)3(mu3-t-BuPO3)2(mu6-t-BuPO3)3][t-BuPO2OH][C6H5CH3]2) (2). The molecular structure of this cage revealed that it possesses a barrel-shaped architechture. The cage structure is built by the cumulative coordination action of phosphonate, hydroxide, and pyrazolyl ligands. A similar reaction involving Cu(NO3)2. 3H2O, t-BuP(O)(OH)2, 3,5-dimethylpyrazole, and triethylamine afforded another dodecanuclear cage [Cu12(mu-DMPz)8(eta1-DMPzH)2(mu4-O)2(mu3-OH)4(mu3- t-BuPO3)4].3MeOH (3). The latter is crown-shaped and is built by the coordination of pyrazole, pyrazolyl, phosphonate, hydroxide, oxide, and methanol ligands. Small beta hairpins have many distinct biological functions, including their involvement in chemokine and viral receptor recognition. The relevance of structural similarities between different hairpin loops with near homologous sequences is not yet understood, calling for the development of methods for de novo hairpin structure prediction and simulation. De novo folding of beta strands is more difficult than that of helical proteins because of nonlocal hydrogen bonding patterns that connect amino acids that are distant in the amino acid sequence and there is a large variety of possible hydrogen bond patterns. Here we use a greedy version of the basin hopping technique with our free-energy forcefield PFF02 to reproducibly and predictively fold the hairpin structure of a HIV-V3 loop. We performed 20 independent basin hopping runs for 500 cycles corresponding to 7.4 x 10(7) energy evaluations each. The lowest energy structure found in the simulation has a backbone root mean square deviation (bRMSD) of only 2.04 A to the native conformation. The lowest 9 out of the 20 simulations converged to conformations deviating less than 2.5 A bRMSD from native. 相似文献

The display parameters and the stability of the various mesophases of a newly synthesised racemic mixture of anti-ferroelectric liquid crystals (AFLCs) have been boosted with the help of the electron beam irradiation. The mixture has phase sequence of isotropic–smectic C–smectic CA crystal. The effective macroscopic polarisation and transition temperatures of the various mesophases of the irradiated mixture have increased as compared with the pure mixture. The macroscopic polarisation of the mixture has increased from 21 to 27 nC/cm2 due to the irradiation. From various studies, we have observed that the temperature range of the smectic CA phase has increased by 20.6°C with marginal decrease in the temperature range of the smectic C phase. 相似文献

ABSTRACTStemming from our implementation of parallel coupled-cluster (CC) capabilities for electron spin resonance properties [J. Chem. Phys. 139, 174103 (2013)], we present a new massively parallel linear response CC module within ACES III. Unlike alternative parallel CC modules, this general purpose module evaluates any type of first- and second-order CC properties of both closed- and open-shell molecules employing restricted, unrestricted and restricted-open-shell Hartree–Fock (HF) references. We demonstrate the accuracy and usefulness of this module through the calculation of static polarisabilities of large molecules. Closed-shell calculations are performed at the following levels: second-order many-body perturbation theory [MBPT(2)], CC with single- and double-excitations (CCSD), coupled-perturbed HF and density functional theory (DFT), and open-shell calculations at the unrestricted CCSD (UCSSD) one. Applications involve eight closed-shell organic-chemistry molecules (Set I), the first four members of the closed-shell thiophene oligomer series (Set II), and five open-shell radicals (Set III). In Set I, all calculated average polarisabilities agree reasonably well with experimental data. In Set II, all calculated average polarisabilities vs. the number of monomers show comparable values and saturation patterns and demonstrate that experimental polarisabilities may be inaccurate. In Set III, UCCSD perpendicular polarisabilities show a reasonable agreement with previous UCCSD(T) and restricted-open-shell-MBPT(2) values. 相似文献
