The structural transformation dynamics of single-crystalline indium phosphide (InP) irradiated with 150 fs laser pulses at 800 nm has been investigated by means of time-resolved reflectivity measurements covering a time window from 150 fs up to 500 ns. The results obtained show that for fluences above a threshold of 0.16 J/cm2 thermal melting of the material occurs on the timescale of 1–2 ps. The evolution of the reflectivity on a longer timescale reveals the reflectivity of the liquid phase and shows resolidification times typically around 10–30 ns after which an amorphous layer several tens of nanometers thick is formed on the surface. This amorphous layer significantly alters the optical properties of the surface and finally leads to a reduced ablation threshold for subsequent laser pulses. Single-pulse ablation at higher fluences (>0.23 J/cm2) is preceded by an ultrafast phase transition (non-thermal melting) occurring within 400 fs after the arrival of the pulse to the surface. Non-primitive LiCl aqueous electrolyte solutions were studied at 1.0, 5.0 and 10.0 M concentrations by molecular dynamics simulations. It was observed that the ion hydration structure is progressively lost with increasing concentration. The ions are aggregated in small clusters at C = 1.0 M. However, at this concentration, two large clusters were detected that are an initial step in an aggregation process. At C = 5.0 M, the highly unstable ion clustering seems to correspond to an intermediary state between low concentration states with poor aggregation and states where the ions are highly aggregated, as observed at C = 10.0 M where almost all the ions are clustered in one cluster. This cluster does not present a crystal-like structure. The high solubility of LiCl in aqueous solutions can consequently be explained as a result of the large radii difference between the anion and the cation that results in the instability of the ionic aggregates, which makes the formation of crystal seeds difficult.  相似文献

The structure and hydration of insulin-like growth factor 1 and an inactive mutant lacking the C region have been investigated in aqueous solution by molecular dynamics simulation. The overall structures of the two polypeptide resemble those determined by NMR spectroscopy. The deletion of the C region in the wild polypeptide introduces structural stability in the mutant, leading to a better definition of the secondary structure elements. A detailed hydration analysis was performed using the radial distribution functions and energy distributions. The backbone of the mutant is in general more solvent accessible than the wild polypeptide backbone. The structural rearrangements induced in the mutant led to changes in the solvent exposition of Tyr24 and Tyr60, which are residues important for ligand—receptor complex formation. Tyr24 exhibited a similar degree of solvent exposition in both IGF-I and in the mutant; however, its hydroxyl group in the wild polypeptide is better solvated than in the mutant. Tyr60 was found to be solvent exposed in the wild protein, while in the mutant the involvement of its hydroxyl group in intramolecular hydrogen bonds led to it being buried away from the solvent.  相似文献

Time-resolved measurements of the spectral dielectric function reveal new information about ultrafast phase transitions induced by femtosecond laser pulses in Sb-rich amorphous GeSb films. The excitation generates a nonthermal phase within 200 fs. The dielectric function of this phase differs from that of the crystalline phase, contrary to previous suggestions of a disorder-to-order transition. The observed dielectric function is close to that of the liquid phase, indicating an ultrafast transition from the amorphous phase to a different disordered state.  相似文献

Structural relaxation processes are induced by pulsed laser irradiation in amorphous SbGe thin films with compositions richer in Sb than the eutectics. These processes are studied by means of real-time optical measurements and transmission electron microscopy analytical techniques. The influence of the laser pulse length and the film composition is analysed. The results show that the relaxed amorphous material exhibits different optical properties, density and lower-energy density threshold for crystallisation. A qualitative change in the relaxation mechanism is observed when the composition of the films is slightly changed.  相似文献

By suitable interpretation of results from the linear analysis of interface dynamics, it is found that the hydrodynamic growth of the size L of domains that follow spinodal decomposition in fluid mixtures scales with time as L approximately t(alpha), with alpha = 4/7 in the inertial regime. The previously proposed exponent alpha = 2/3 is shown to indicate only the scaling of the oscillatory frequency omega(-2/3) approximately L of the largest structures of the system. The viscous dissipation in the system occurs within a layer of thickness L(d) that also follows a power law of the form L(d) approximately L3/4 in the inertial regime. In the viscous regime the growth is linear in time L approximately t and the dissipative region remains constant L(d) approximately L0.  相似文献

Lugana and Verdicchio are two Italian white wines with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) label. These two wine types are produced in different regions using the same grape variety. The aim of this work is to investigate the existence of volatile chemical markers that could help to elucidate differences between Lugana and Verdicchio wines both at chemical and sensory levels. Thirteen commercial wine samples were analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), and 76 volatile compounds were identified and quantified. Verdicchio and Lugana had been differentiated on the basis of 19 free and glycosidically bound compounds belonging to the chemical classes of terpenes, benzenoids, higher alcohols, C6 alcohols and norisoprenoids. Samples were assessed by means of a sorting task sensory analysis, resulting in two clusters formed. These results suggested the existence of 2 product types with specific sensory spaces that can be related, to a good extend, to Verdicchio and Lugana wines. Cluster 1 was composed of six wines, 4 of which were Lugana, while Cluster 2 was formed of 7 wines, 5 of which were Verdicchio. The first cluster was described as “fruity”, and “fresh/minty”, while the second as “fermentative” and “spicy”. An attempt was made to relate analytical and sensory data, the results showed that damascenone and the sum of 3 of esters the ethyl hexanoate, ethyl octanoate and isoamyl acetate, was characterizing Cluster 1. These results highlighted the primary importance of geographical origin to the volatile composition and perceived aroma of Lugana and Verdicchio wines.  相似文献

We have studied the plasma formation and ablation dynamics in fused silica upon irradiation with a single 120 fs laser pulse at 800 nm by using fs-resolved pump-probe microscope. It allows recording images of the laser-excited surface at different time delays after the arrival of the pump pulse. This way, we can extract both the temporal evolution of the surface reflectivity and transmission, at 400 nm, for different spatial positions in the spots (and thus for different local fluences) from single series of images. At fluences well above the visible ablation threshold, a fast and large increase of the reflectivity is induced by the formation of a dense free-electron plasma. The maximum reflectivity value is reached within ≈1.5 ps, while the normalized transmission decreases within ≈400 fs. The subsequent temporal evolution of both transient reflectivity and transmission are consistent with the occurrence of surface ablation. In addition, the time-resolved images reveal the existence of a free-electron plasma distribution surrounding the visible ablation crater and thus formed at local fluences below the ablation threshold. The lifetime of this sub-ablation plasma is ≈50 ps, and its maximum electron density amounts to 5.5×1022 cm−3.  相似文献

We report on the role of local optical field enhancement in the neighborhood of particles during dry laser cleaning (DLC) of silicon wafer surfaces. Samples covered with spherical colloidal particles (PS, SiO2) and arbitrarily shaped Al2O3 particles with diameters from 320–1700 nm were cleaned using laser pulses with durations from 150 fs to 6.5 ns and wavelengths ranging from 400–800 nm. Cleaned areas were investigated with scanning electron and atomic force microscopy. Holes in the substrate with diameters of 200–400 nm and depths of 10–80 nm, depending on the irradiation conditions, were found at the former positions of the particles. For all pulse durations analyzed (fs, ps, ns), holes are created at laser fluences as small as the threshold fluence. Calculations of the optical field intensities in the particles’ neighbourhood by applying Mie theory suggest that enhancement of the incident laser intensity in the near field of the particles is responsible for these effects. DLC for sub-ns pulses seems to be governed by the local ablation of the substrate rather than by surface acceleration. The local adaptive Galerkin bases for large-dimensional dynamical systems, whose long-time behavior is confined to a finite-dimensional manifold, are optimal bases chosen by a local version of a singular decomposition analysis. These bases are picked out by choosing directions of maximum bending of the manifold restricted to a ball of radius ɛ . We show their geometrical meaning by analyzing the eigenvalues of a certain self-adjoint operator. The eigenvalues scale according to the information they carry, the ones that scale as ɛ 2 have a common factor that depends only on the dimension of the manifold, the ones that scale as ɛ 4 give the different curvatures of the manifold, the ones that scale as ɛ 6 give the third invariants, as the torsion for curves, and so on. In this way we obtain a decomposition of phase space into orthogonal spaces E m , where E m is spanned by the eigenvectors whose corresponding eigenvalues scale as ɛ m . This decomposition is analogous to the Frenet frames for curves. We also discover a practical way to compute the dimension and local structure of the invariant manifold.
