Storage conditions seem to be important in the long-term stability of nanoparticles (NPs). This work studies the effects of surfactants and storage container on particle size distribution and zeta potential during long-term storage of acid hydrolyzed potato starch NPs. The NPs were prepared from potato starch using acid hydrolysis and high-intensity ultrasonication. During the ultrasonic treatment, the surfactants were added dropwise to the solutions to reduce the size and stabilize the formed NPs. Particle size distribution, zeta potential, and FE-SEM were used to characterize the ensuing NPs. Additionally, a 5-month stability study was performed to evaluate the maintenance of potato starch NPs over time at different storage conditions. Then, NPs from corn starch were produced by the same procedure and were used for preparing pH-responsive nanocarriers containing NaHCO3 for delivery of an anti-cancer drug, FTY720. These NPs were able to release the drug at pH 5.0 because of CO2 generated from NaHCO3 in acidic pH and released from the NPs by the production of pores, which accelerate drug release.  相似文献

Melt blending was employed to prepare thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) of reclaimed rubber (RR) and high density polyethylene (HDPE). Mechanical properties of TPE samples were improved in different methods including dynamic vulcanization and reactive blending (reactive compatibilization) during melt mixing in an internal Haake mixer. The physical and mechanical properties of the TPE blends were investigated by the dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and tensile tests. The thermal behavior was characterized by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The phase morphology of the blends was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Experimental results showed that, both static and dynamic mechanical properties of reactively-compatibilized and dynamically-vulcanized samples improved significantly compared with the virgin samples. The effect of dynamic-vulcanization and reactivecompatibilization on the mechanical properties revealed that the Young’s modulus and storage modulus increased with both improvement methods. SEM results showed that, dynamic-vulcanization and reactivecompatibilization methods improved the distribution of RR particles in HDPE matrix. Although both methods improved the thermal and mechanical properties of the HDPE/RR blends, dynamic-vulcanization was more effective and promising approach due to the higher properties of HDPE/RR blends prepared by this method.  相似文献

A key feature in more than twenty amyloid-related diseases is the aggregation of intra-and/or extracellular misfolded proteins as amyloid fibrils. Therefore, preventing or reversing amyloid aggregation by using of small molecules is considered as useful approaches to the treatment of these diseases. We have evaluated the ability of safranal and crocin, to inhibit amyloid self-assembly of hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL), as an in vitro model system. Structural properties of HEWL in the presence of these compounds were investigated individually using thioflavin T, anilinonaphthalene-8-sulfonic acid fluorescence assays, far-UV circular dichroism and scanning electron microscopy as well as docking method. Our results showed that incubation of HEWL with either crocin or safranal at various concentrations leads a significant inhibition in the rate of amyloid formation. Docking analysis revealed crocin and safranal interact with the central hydrophobic region of lysozyme through van der Waals interaction. Hydroxyl group in crocin through hydrogen bonds connected to the several hydrophilic amino acids of lysozyme, while in safranal there are just one aldehyde group that through hydrogen bonds connected to aspartic acid in lysozyme. It can be concluded that both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups contribute to lower lysozyme fibril accumulation.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of a static electric field on photoionization of the He atom in the ground 1S and low-lying 2S and 2P excited states. The field-affected ionization potential and photoionization cross-section are determined from the complex eigenvalues of the time-dependent Schr?dinger equation solved by the complex rotation method in the Floquet ansatz. Accuracy of the method is enhanced by the use of the Hylleraas basis set. For the ground state of helium, we find that the total photoionization cross-section remains constant or decreases as a function of the DC field strength until this field reaches a certain critical value. For the low-lying excited states, effect of the static field is similar to the ordinary DC Stark effect.  相似文献

Oil saturated cylindrical sandstone cores were placed into imbibition cells where they contacted with an aqueous phase and oil recovery performances were tested with and without ultrasonic radiation keeping all other conditions and parameters constant. Experiments were conducted for different initial water saturation, oil viscosity and wettability. The specifications of acoustic sources such as ultrasonic intensity (45–84 W/sq cm) and frequency (22 and 40 kHz) were also changed. An increase in recovery was observed with ultrasonic energy in all cases. This change was more remarkable for the oil-wet medium. The additional recovery with ultrasonic energy became lower as the oil viscosity increased. We also designed a setup to measure the ultrasonic energy penetration capacity in different media, namely air, water, and slurry (sand + water mixture). A one-meter long water or slurry filled medium was prepared and the ultrasonic intensity and frequency were monitored as a function of distance from the source. The imbibition cells were placed at certain distances from the sources and the oil recovery was recorded. Then, the imbibition recovery was related to the ultrasonic intensity, frequency, and distance from the ultrasonic source.  相似文献

We propose new high order accurate methods to compute the evolution of axi-symmetric interfacial Stokes flow. The velocity at a point on the interface is given by an integral over the surface. Quadrature rules to evaluate these integrals are developed using asymptotic expansions of the integrands, both locally about the point of evaluation, and about the poles, where the interface crosses the axis of symmetry. The local expansions yield methods that converge to the chosen order pointwise, for fixed evaluation point. The pole expansions yield corrections that remove maximal errors of low order, introduced by singular behaviour of the integrands as the evaluation point approaches the poles. An interesting example of roundoff error amplification due to cancellation is also addressed. The result is a uniformly accurate fifth order method. Second order, pointwise fifth order, and uniform fifth order methods are applied to compute three sample flows, each of which presents a different computational difficulty: an initially bar-belled drop that pinches in finite time, a drop in a strain flow that approaches a steady state, and a continuously extending drop. In each case, the fifth order methods significantly improve the ability to resolve the flow. The examples furthermore give insight into the effect of the corrections needed for uniformity. We determine conditions under which the pointwise method is sufficient to obtain resolved results, and others under which the corrections significantly improve the results.  相似文献

Abstract

Medicinal plants play an important role in aquaculture as feed additives. This study aimed to investigate effects of alcoholic extract of acorn on growth performance, body composition, digestive enzymes activity and blood biochemical parameters of rainbow trout (O. mykiss) as a commercially important fish. Five dietary treatments were supplemented: 100, 200, 400 and 600?mg.kg?1 of the extract. Fishes were fed twice per day for 8?weeks, and results showed that acorn extract positively affected all investigated parameters in rainbow trout fishes. Digestive enzymes activity and growth performance were increased, while activity of liver enzymes and cortisol were lowed in comparison to control individuals. Body composition of treated animals was also enhanced. Comparison between treated groups together with integrative biomarker response (IBR) values indicated greatest effects in animals fed with 400 and 600?mg.kg?1 of the extract. Positive effects of the acorn represent promising start point for further studies.  相似文献
