The spinor representation,U(1)Γ embedding,and symmetry-breaking patterns in SO(14)

An SO(14) gauge theory with a spinor representation is presented as an extension of the flavor-unifying SU(7) model. The global Γ symmetry in the SU(7) theory becomes a local gauge symmetry as a part of the SO(14). The quarks are classified by 3 groups and the leptons by 2 groups according to the Γ quantum number. Three patterns of spontaneous symmetry breaking are considered, and only one of them is shown to be a viable choice.     

Diffusion-controlled vinyl polymerization. III. Free volume parameters and diffusion-controlled propagation

The values of the parameters that are necessary to compute the free volume changes accompanying polymerization were determined from viscosity data of concentrated polymer solutions. Relationships applicable above and below the glass transition temperature of the polymer were quantified. A general treatment of the variation of the propagation rate constant with free volume was postulated, based on the variation of the monomeric diffusivity with free volume. This, in turn, was related to the friction coefficient of a polymer chain segment, the values of which are readily available. A discussion of the reaction behavior in the last stage of polymerization and the occurrence of limiting conversion is also presented.     

Stereochemical studies — 79 synthesis and kinetic study on the retrodiene decomposition of norbornene-condensed 1,3-oxazin-4-ones

The $\text{cis}$-$\text{cxo}$- amino acid $\text{c}$ with norbornene skeleton was converted into 2-aryvl-$\text{cis}$-$\text{cxo}$-1,3-oxazin-4-ones $\text{5a}$-$\text{d}$. These compounds, similarly to the $\text{diendo}$ isomers $\text{1a}$-$\text{d}$ studied by us earlier, undergo retrodiene decomposition under mild conditions to give 2-aryl-6$\text{2}$-l,3-oxazin-6-ones ($\text{2}$$\text{a}$-$\text{d}$) in 50-60% yield. The ratio of the decomposition rate constants of the tricyclic $\text{diendo}$ and $\text{diexo}$-1,3-oxazin-4-ones, measured in toluene solution, is about 2.     

Ring transformations of 1,3-benzothiazine derivatives II conversion of 6α-aryl-7α-chloro-2,3(2′,3′-dialkqxybenzo)-1-thiaoctems3 into 2-carbomethoxy-3-aryl-7,8-dialkoxy-4.5-dihydro-1,4-benzothiazepines

6,7-Dialkoxy-2-aryl-4$\text{H}$1-1,3-benzothiazines (1a?) react with chloroacetyl chlorlde to give condensed β-lactam derivatives (2a?). Basic treatment of 2a? in methanol led to the corresponding 1,4-banzothiazepine derivativee (3a?) $\text{via}$ring expansion. The structures of the products were determined by IR, NMR and MS studies     

Rapid, sensitive, and quantitative detection of pathogenic DNA at the point of care through microfluidic electrochemical quantitative loop-mediated isothermal amplification

Single-step DNA detection: a microfluidic electrochemical loop mediated isothermal amplification platform is reported for rapid, sensitive, and quantitative detection of pathogen genomic DNA at the point of care. DNA amplification was electrochemically monitored in real time within a monolithic microfluidic device, thus enabling the detection of as few as 16 copies of Salmonella genomic DNA through a single-step process in less than an hour.     

Anodic Stripping Voltammetry Combined with Sequential Injection Analysis for Measurements of Trace Metal Ions with Bismuth‐ and Antimony Film Electrodes under Comparable Conditions

Anodic stripping voltammetry combined with sequential injection analysis (ASV‐SIA) was selected to examine the use of bismuth‐ and antimony‐film plated glassy carbon electrodes under comparable conditions for the determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions. Of interest were the conditions for film deposition, as well as the composition of sample/carrier solutions, including concentrations of Sb(III) or Bi(III) and HCl. Then, by the optimized procedure, one could determine Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) ions at the low µg L^?1 level and ASV‐SIA configuration with both electrodes tested on analysis of a water sample.     

Annealing-free high-mobility diketopyrrolopyrrole-quaterthiophene copolymer for solution-processed organic thin film transistors

A donor-acceptor polymer semiconductor, PDQT, comprising diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) and β-unsubstituted quaterthiophene (QT) for organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) is reported. This polymer forms ordered layer-by-layer lamellar packing with an edge-on orientation in thin films even without thermal annealing. The strong intermolecular interactions arising from the fused aromatic DPP moiety and the DPP-QT donor-acceptor interaction facilitate the spontaneous self-assembly of the polymer chains into close proximity and form a large π-π overlap, which are favorable for intermolecular charge hopping. The well-interconnected crystalline grains form efficient intergranular charge transport pathways. The desirable chemical, electronic, and morphological structures of PDQT bring about high hole mobility of up to 0.97 cm(2)/(V·s) in OTFTs with polymer thin films annealed at a mild temperature of 100 °C and similarly high mobility of 0.89 cm(2)/(V·s) for polymer thin films even without thermal annealing.     

Ritter-reaction on steroids: Ring expansion of steroid oxethans into dihydrooxazines

The 3β-acetoxy-16β,17β-epoxymethyleneandrost-5-ene ($\text{1}$) transforms into the dihydrooxazine condensed to the sterane skeleton ($\text{4}$$\text{a}$,$\text{b}$,$\text{c}$,$\text{e}$,$\text{g}$,$\text{i}$) in a ring-expansion reaction with alkyl and aryl nitriles in the presence of HBF₄— diethyletherate The 3β-acetoxy-16α, 17α-epoxymethyleneandrost-5-ene ($\text{9}$) undergoes a Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement under similar conditions.     

Stereochemical studies 83 saturated heterocycles 76 : Preparation and conformational study of partially saturated 3,1-benzoxazines, 3,1-benzoxazin-2-ones and 3,1-benzoxazine-2-thiones

The $\text{cis}$- and $\text{trans}$-2-amino-4-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic acids $\text{1}$ and $\text{3}$ react with imidates to give the condensed-skeleton, bicyclic $\text{cis}$- and $\text{trans}$-pyrimidin-4-ones $\text{8}$ and $\text{9}$. The amino acids $\text{1}$ and $\text{3}$ were reduced to the $\text{cis}$-and $\text{trans}$-1, 3-aminoalcohoIs $\text{6}$ and $\text{7}$, which were cyclized by means of imidates to the bicyclic tetrahydro-4$\text{H}$-3,1-benzoxazines $\text{10}$ and $\text{11}$, or were converted, $\text{via}$ the corresponding carbamates $\text{14}$ and $\text{15}$ into the tetrahydro-4$\text{H}$-3,1-benzoxazin-2(1$\text{H}$)-ones $\text{16}$ and $\text{17}$. The 2-thioxo analogues $\text{18}$ and $\text{19}$ were prepared by cyclization of the dithiocarbamates obtained from the aminoalcohols $\text{6}$ and $\text{7}$ by treatment with carbon disulphide. The $\text{trans}$-aminoalcohol $\text{7}$ and its saturated analogue reacted with $\text{p}$-chlorobenzaldehyde to furnish the hexahydro $\text{13}$ and octahydro-4$\text{H}$-3,1-benzoxazine $\text{13a}$, respectively. ¹H and ¹³C NMR studies showed that, similarly to the earlier-investigated analogues containing oxygen or unsubstituted nitrogen at position 1, the synthesized $\text{cis}$ isomrs $\text{8}$, $\text{10}$, $\text{16}$ and $\text{18}$ occurred as the preferred conformer in the heterocyclic twist inverse form of $\text{N}$-inside type ($\text{quasiaxial}$ C₆-N bond) (B). In the $\text{trans}$ isomers containing a saturated C-2 atom ($\text{13}$ and $\text{13a}$), H-2 and H-6 are in $\text{cis}$ relative positions.
