Analysis of topological cross sections in pp interactions at 22.4 GeVc

The multiplicity distribution for 11558 events in $\text{p}\text{p}$ interactions at 22.4 $\text{GeV}\text{c}$ was analyzed. The average charged multiplicity 〈n_ch〉 for inelastic events was found to be 4.69 ±0.05 and $\text{〈n}{}_{\mathrm{ch}}\text{〉}\text{D=2.04 ± 0.05}$. The early KNO scaling of normalized topological cross sections has been tested.     

Switching surfaces inN-person differential games

Switching surfaces inN-person differential games are essentially similar to those encountered in optimal control and two-person, zero-sum differential games. The differences between the Nash noncooperative solution and the saddle-point solution are reflected in the dispersal surfaces. These are discussed through classification and construction procedures for switching surfaces. A simple example of a two-person, nonzero-sum game is considered. A complete solution of this game will be presented in a companion paper (Ref. 1).     

Laser spectroscopic determination of the 50V quadrupole moment

Using the method of atomic-beam magnetic resonance, detected by laser-induced resonance fluorescence (ABMR-LIRF), the atomic ground-state hyperfine intervals of ⁵⁰V were precisely measured. A quadrupole moment ratio $\text{Q(}{}^{50}\text{V}\text{) / (}{}^{51}\text{V}\text{= ?4.03(3)}$ is obtained which results in $\text{Q(}{}^{50}\text{V}\text{) = +0.21(4)}\text{b}$.     

A comparative study of the electric giant dipole resonance of 24−26Mg

The electric giant dipole resonance of ^24?26Mg has been explored up to 30 MeV excitation energy with bremsstrahlung. ΔE, E spectra of charged photo-particles and spectra of prompt deexcitation γ-rays from excited residual nuclear states were obtained at various bremsstrahlung endpoint energies. The ²⁵Mg(γ, p₀), (γ, d), ^24,25Mg(γ, α) differential cross sections as well as ^24?26Mg(γ, xγ′) integrated cross sections are presented. The results are discussed in terms of one-particle, one-hole excitations and isospin composition of giant resonance states. A comparison with calculations for ²⁴Mg gives poor agreement. Excitations from deeper shells were found in the giant dipole resonance of ²⁴Mg, but do not seem to be concentrated at higher energies. In ²⁵Mg, only weak excitations of this kind were found, and they are completely absent in ²⁶Mg.
