Holocene quartz sands were collected from fluvial terrace deposits and eolian dune deposits adjacent to the North Canadian and Cimarron Rivers and their tributaries in Central Oklahoma. Single aliquot regenerative dose optically stimulated luminescence techniques were employed to generate equivalent dose (ED) distribution histograms for each sample. We hypothesize that the ED distributions are convolutions of the distribution arising from natural sedimentary processes, influenced primarily by the degree of solar resetting experienced by individual grains, and a distribution due to experimental error. An estimation of the experimental error distribution for each sample was made and this was then deconvolved from the experimentally measured ED distribution to reveal the ‘sedimentary process’ ED distribution. Objective methods for determining EDs, uncertainties, and confidence parameters from the deconvolved distributions are presented.  相似文献

The circular dichroism of titanium‐doped silver chiral nanorod arrays grown using the glancing angle deposition (GLAD) method is investigated in the visible and near infrared ranges using transmission ellipsometry and spectroscopy. These films are found to have significant circular polarization effects across broad ranges of the visible to NIR spectrum, including large values for optical rotation. The characteristics of these circular polarization effects are strongly influenced by the morphology of the deposited arrays. Thus, the morphological control of the optical activity in these nanostructures demonstrates significant optimization capability of the GLAD technique for fabricating chiral plasmonic materials.

Optical waveguide sensor for on-line monitoring of bacteria   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A grating-coupled planar optical waveguide sensor is presented for sensing of bacteria by evanescent waves. The waveguide design results in increased depth of penetration into the sample volume, which makes it suitable for detecting micrometer-sized biological objects. We tested the sensor's performance by monitoring the adhesion of Escherichia coli K12 cells to the sensor surface.  相似文献

We present ratios of the numbers of charged antihadrons to hadrons (pions, kaons, and protons) in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV as a function of rapidity in the range y=0-3. While the ratios at midrapidity are approaching unity, the K(-)/K(+) and p;/p ratios decrease significantly at forward rapidities. An interpretation of the results within the statistical model indicates a reduction of the baryon chemical potential from mu(B) approximately 130 MeV at y=3 to mu(B) approximately 25 MeV at y=0.  相似文献

We demonstrate intracavity frequency doubling of a standard femtosecond Ti:sapphire oscillator. The cavity is extended with a pair of focusing mirrors and a 0.5-mm-thick BBO crystal. We achieve a repetition rate of 50 MHz and simultaneously generate 22 mW of 55-fs pulses at 810 nm and 200 mW of 73-fs pulses at 405 nm, which corresponds to 4 nJ per pulse. We create a total of 330-mW, 405-nm light when pumping the Ti:sapphire crystal with 5.7 W from an Ar-ion laser, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 5.7%. No saturation is found, which implies that higher outputs can be achieved with higher pump rates. Preliminary results from the use of blue pulses as pump in an optical parametric amplifier seeded by pulses from a photonic crystal fiber are presented. A coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscope based on a Ti:sapphire femtosecond oscillator and a photonic crystal fiber is demonstrated. The nonlinear response of the fiber is used to generate the additional wavelength needed in the Raman process. The applicability of the setup is demonstrated by imaging of micrometer-sized polystyrene beads.  相似文献

The Fourier transform infrared spectrum of gaseous 1,3,4-oxadiazole, C2H2N2O, has been recorded in the 800–1600 cm−1 wavenumber region with a resolution around 0.0030 cm−1. The four fundamental bands ν9(B1; 852.5 cm−1), ν14(B2; 1078.5 cm−1), ν4(A1; 1092.6 cm−1), and ν2(A1; 1534.9 cm−1) are analyzed by the standard Watson model. Ground state rotational and quartic centrifugal distortion constants are obtained from a simultaneous fit of ground state combination differences from three of these bands and previous microwave transitions. Upper state spectroscopic constants are obtained for all four bands from single band fits using the Watson model. The ν4 and ν14 bands form a c-Coriolis interacting dyad, and the two bands are analyzed simultaneously by a model including first and second order Coriolis resonance using the ab initio predicted Coriolis coupling constant . An extended local resonance in ν2 is explained as higher order b-Coriolis type resonance with ν6 + ν10, which is further perturbed globally by the ν15 + ν10 level. A fit of selected low-J transitions to a triad model including ν2(A1), ν6 + ν10(B1), and ν15 + ν10(A2) using an ab initio calculated Coriolis coupling constant is performed.The rotational constants, ground state quartic centrifugal distortion constants, anharmonic frequencies, and vibration–rotational constants (α-constants) predicted by quantum chemical calculations using a cc-pVTZ and TZ2P basis with B3LYP methodology, are compared with the present experimental data, where there is generally good agreement. A complete set of anharmonic frequencies and α-constants for all fundamental levels of the molecule is given.  相似文献
