Plutonium disproportionation: Pitzer parameters or precipitates?

The behavior of dissolved pentavalent plutonium in the presence of hydrous plutonium oxides has recently been described in terms of Pitzer parameters. The observations can be explained by a conventional approach. The alternative perspective does not use the irreversible oxygen/water couple and it is easier to understand than virial expansions and Pitzer coefficients. A Graphical Implementation Aid for Inventory Management of Slow-moving Items

For low-usage (so-called C) items it makes sense to have rather low control costs, i.e. a simple control procedure. In this paper we develop a very simple graphical implementation aid for selecting either the reorder point in a continuous-review, reorder point, order quantity system or the order-up-to-level in a periodic-review, order-up-to-level system. The development is based upon a Poisson distribution of demand during a lead time (and review interval), which is likely to be appropriate for low-usage items.     

Charge balance equations for plutonium

Charge balance equations can be used to obtain relationships among oxidation states in plutonium solutions. Using composite moving averages to forecast sales

Combining moving averages has been suggested as a simple and practical means to improve sales forecasting. Here we present a natural extension whereby combinations of all possible moving averages up to a given number of periods are employed. We evaluate the method's performance relative to other methods, such as simple moving averages and exponentially-weighted moving averages, on two industrial data sets. Particular attention is placed on methods for selecting the number of periods employed, and on handling noisy data.

[1,5]-Silatropic shifts in disilyl substituted indenes: an NMR spectroscopic and computational study

The equilibrium profiles for [1,5]-silatropic shifts in a series of 1,3-/1,1-disilyl substituted indenes were studied by NMR and computational methods based on density functional theory. Both methods indicate higher activation parameters for the [1,5]-shifts than observed in monosilyl substituted indene analogues.
