Summary The C-H activation reaction of acetylene by second row transition metal atoms has been studied including electron correlation of all valence electrons. Binding energies have been computed for both -coordinated complexes and C-H insertion products. It is found that for most atoms the -coordinated complexes are thermodynamically favoured, just as in the case for the corresponding ethylene reaction. The barrier height for the C-H insertion increases from acetylene to ethylene and to methane. This is in line with the experimental finding that there should be an inverse relation between C-H bond strengths and the difficulty to activate these bonds. To explain the detailed differences between the C-H activation of acetylene and ethylene, the interaction with two, rather than one, - and *-orbitals for acetylene is of key importance. The barrier height for the acetylene reaction increases significantly between niobium and molybdenum going to the right in the periodic table, just as for all oxidative addition reactions previously studied. The origin of this increase is that noibium has one empty 4d-orbital but for molybdenum all 4d-orbitals are occupied. Rhodium has the lowest barrier for C-H activation for all systems studied.  相似文献

In a previous DFT study a mechanism for the reductive half-reaction of pea seedling amine oxidase (PSAO) was suggested. In many of the suggested steps a lysine at the active site plays an important role. However, this lysine is not found in other amine oxidases. The primary aim of the present DFT study is therefore to investigate alternative mechanisms for those amine oxidases (CAO) where the lysine residue is not present. One of the most important roles suggested for the lysine in PSAO was to protonate the O2-site of TPQ before the critical Cbond;H bond cleavage of the substrate. In the absence of lysine the O2-site of TPQ is now suggested to be protonated by a water ligand on the copper metal complex, in line with experimental suggestions. In other steps the role of lysine is taken over by an asparagine. All results are compared with experimental observations and good agreement is generally found.  相似文献

Density functional theory with the B3LYP hybrid functional has been used to study the mechanisms for dioxygen activation by four families of mononuclear non-heme iron enzymes: alpha-ketoacid-dependent dioxygenases, tetrahydrobiopterin-dependent hydroxylases, extradiol dioxygenases, and Rieske dioxygenases. These enzymes have a common active site with a ferrous ion coordinated to two histidines and one carboxylate group (aspartate or glutamate). In contrast to the heme case, this type of weak field environment always leads to a high-spin ground state. With the exception of the Rieske dioxygenases, which have an electron source outside the active site, the dioxygen activation process passes through the formation of a bridging-peroxide species, which then undergoes O-O bond cleavage finally leading to the four electron reduction of O(2). In the case of tetrahydrobiopterin- and alpha-ketoacid-dependent enzymes, the O-O heterolysis yields a high-valent iron-oxo species, which is capable of performing a two-electron oxidation chemistry on various organic substrates. For the other two families of enzymes (extradiol dioxygenases and Rieske dioxygenases) the substrate oxidation and the O-O bond cleavage are found to be coupled. In the extradiol dioxygenases the product of the O-O bond cleavage is a ferric iron with an oxy-substrate with a mixture of radical and anionic character, which is essential for the selectivity of the catechol cleavage.  相似文献

The ESCA spectrum of C3O2 excited by Mg Kα radiation, 1253.6 eV, has been obtained for both gaseous and solid samples. The chemical shifts of the C1s and O1s levels have been used to calculate the gross atomic charges. The valence region of the spectrum has been recorded and the ordering of the orbitals has been decided on the basis of an ab initio calculation and the intensities of the observed peaks. An unusually intense shake-up spectrum has also been observed and is discussed. The relative spacing of the valence peaks has been found to be different for the solid and gas.  相似文献

The densities of states for small (TiO2)x-clusters, x = 1, 3, 6, 9, and 14, have been calculated by means of the INDO method. The shape of the valence bands' density of states (DOS ) are discussed in terms of the distribution of coordination numbers. A one-slab cluster with uniform distribution of the coordination numbers was used to compare our calculations with experimental spectra. The photoelectric DOS and DOS for a cluster with an oxygen vacancy are in very good agreement with experimental findings for the TiO2 (001) surface. O1s core level shifts between a surfacelike and a bulklike oxygen atom have been estimated. It is concluded that the observed surface–bulk shift for the TiO2 (001) surface contains a substantial relaxation contribution. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The configuration interaction (CI ) method where the efficiency of the generators of the unitary group is most fully exploited is the internally contracted multireference CI method. In the most recent version of this method the semi-internal configurations were kept uncontracted, which means that the number of configurations can still be quite large. In the present study the necessary formulas are derived for the case where the semi-internal states are also contracted. The highest density matrix that appears in these formulas is of order 5, and the computational treatment of this large matrix is discussed in detail.  相似文献

UHF and CI calculations, using the direct CI method, and double-zeta plus polarization functions basis sets, have been performed on the more important parts of the energy hypersurface for CH5. The abstraction H + CH4 → H2 + CH3 and the inversion substitution reaction H′ + CH4 → CH3H′ + H have been studied in detail. The predicted barriers for these two reactions are 13.5 and 36.6 kcal/mol, respectively. The abstraction reaction is, in agreement with experiment, found to be almost thermo-neutral with a heat of reaction of 1.5 kcal/mol.  相似文献

Two ab initio calculations with different basis sets have been performed on the molecule furan, C4H4O. The calculations were done with a new computer program, REFLECT, which is presented. A preliminary analysis of the molecular wave functions has been made by looking at total and orbital energies and also by means of a population analysis. One inner shell ionization energy has been calculated by taking the difference in total energy for the molecule and the corresponding ion. The result is compared with the ionization energy obtained from Koopmans' theorem.  相似文献

Information on the accuracy of DFT functionals for redox reactions in transition metal systems is rather limited. To analyze the performance of some popular functionals for redox reactions in manganese systems, calculated O--H bond dissociation enthalpies for Mn-ligands in six different complexes are compared to experimental results. In this benchmark, B3LYP performs well with a mean absolute error of 3.0 kcal/mol. B98 gives similar results to B3LYP (error of 3.8 kcal/mol). B3LYP* gives lower O--H bond strengths than B3LYP and has a mean error of 5.0 kcal/mol. Compared to B98 and B3LYP, B3LYP* has an error trend for the manganese ligands that is more similar to the error for a free water molecule. The nonhybrid functional BLYP consistently and significantly underestimates the O--H bond strengths by approximately 20 kcal/mol. HCTH407 has a rather large mean error of 9.4 kcal/mol and shows no consistent trend. The results support the use of hybrid functionals and the present computational method for large model systems containing manganese. An example is the oxygen evolving complex in photosystem II where hybrid functionals predict the appearance of a Mn(IV)-oxyl radical before the O--O bond formation step.  相似文献

We use x-ray emission spectroscopy to examine the influence of the intermolecular interaction on the local electronic structure of liquid water. By comparing x-ray emission spectra of the water molecule and liquid water, we find a strong involvement of the a(1)-symmetry valence-orbital in the hydrogen bonding. The local electronic structure of water molecules, where one hydrogen bond is broken at the hydrogen site, is separately determined. Our results provide an illustration of the important potential of x-ray emission spectroscopy for elucidating basic features of liquids.  相似文献
