On a mathematical description of the isotherm of water vapor sorption on grains of various cereals

A model describing the hygroscopic properties of hydrophilic biological polymers is suggested. The quasi-chemical approach was used to obtain an equation for the sorption of water vapor in them. An analysis of experimental data showed that this equation correctly described the hygroscopic properties of the main biopolymers of cereal grains, starch and protein, over a wide range of humidity values. The equation also well described the hygroscopic properties of many cereal grains. The nonlinear regression method was applied to obtain the main parameters of absorption isotherms for grains of certain crops.     

Hetarylation of 1-methylpyrrole by isoquinoline in the presence of aromatic or aliphatic sulfonyl chlorides

When N-alkyl(or aryl) sulfonylisoquinolinium salts are reacted in situ with 1-methylpyrrole, 2-aryl (or alkyl) sulfonyl-1-(pyrrole-2-yl)-1,2-dihydroixoquinolines and 2,5-di[2-aryl(or alkyl)-sulfonyl-1,2-dihydroisoquinolin-1-yl]-1-methylpyrroles form with high yields.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 10, pp. 1379–1382, October, 1984.     

Molecular Structure of 1-Ethyl-4-hydroxy-N-(6-hydroxybenzothiazolyl-2)-2-oxo-1,2-dyhydroquinoline-3-carboxamide

X-ray diffraction analysis of 1-ethyl-4-hydroxy-N-(6-hydroxybenzothiazolyl-2)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxamide has been performed. In crystal, the compound exists as a 2-oxo-4-hydroxy tautomer.     

Comparison of flows induced by a dielectric barrier discharge and a sliding discharge

Two types of electric discharges to be used for the purpose of air flow control are compared. The parameters measured in experiments are the electric characteristics of the discharges and the velocity of flows generated by them. The ionic wind velocity in the sliding discharge is demonstrated to be smaller than in the dielectric barrier discharge. The volume forces acting from the discharge on air and the efficiency of the electro-gas-dynamic action are estimated. The presence of an additional electrode in the case of the sliding discharge is found to affect the distribution of the spatial charge and change the forces, leaving the electric characteristics unchanged.     

Stability of controlled inverted pendulum under permanent horizontal perturbations of the supporting point

We consider the problem of choosing a test perturbation of a movable foundation of a single-link inverted pendulum so as to test a vestibular prosthesis prototype located at the top of this pendulum in an extreme situation. The obtained results permit concluding that the information transmitted from otolithic organs of the human vestibular system to muscles of the locomotor apparatus is very important and improves the quality of stabilization of the human vertical posture preventing the possible fall.
