A non-contact laser forming (LF) demonstrator system was developed to demonstrate the process on a large primitive shape. The research that led to this development is described in this article. A fundamental study was carried out which examined the effects of laser-forming parameters on tokens of an aluminium and a titanium alloy. Energy, geometrical and metallurgical influences were investigated and are summarised here. Results of the study showed that LF of these aerospace materials is possible using a large operating envelope of laser-processing parameters. A range of metallurgical effects resulted on the titanium alloy and these are traced here. Depending on how the energy input was supplied to the plate surface, various geometrical effects resulted. These effects are discussed. Using the knowledge gathered from the fundamental study, a prototype LF system was built. The components of the system and the forming of a primitive shape on it are discussed. Conclusions from the study indicate that the future work lies in the development of the demonstrator for primitive 3-D shapes and the integration of a knowledge-based system. 相似文献

A new procedure for the analysis of Pu and Am in large water samples is presented. In this procedure, the actinides are first preconcentrated from 200 liter water samples with combined MnO2 and Fe(OH)3 co-precipitation. Pu and Am are then separated from the large amount of Mn by performing a second precipitation of Fe(OH)3 at pH 6. The final separation of Pu and Am from interfering elements and from each other is achieved with the use of a single extraction chromatographic column of TRU-ResinÔ. The -activities are then determined using -spectrometry after source preparation by CeF3 micro co-precipitation. The procedure described is faster, simpler, more robust and gives higher chemical yields then procedures normally used for routine analysis of Pu and Am. The chemical yields of Pu and Am, when analysing 200 liter sea water samples, are between 80-85%. 相似文献

The theory of Lg-splines developed by Jerome and Schumaker is extended to the vector-valued (multivariate) case. The extension is described in the frame-work of a reproducing-kernel Hilbert space which among other things allows the establishment of a congruent least-squares estimation problem for a vectorvalued lumped random process. The results include a dynamic recursive algorithm for vector-valued Lg-splines with EHB data and a useful structural characterization theorem for such splines.
