This paper presents a 3D geometric modelling of a twin helical spring and its finite element analysis to study the spring mechanical behaviour under tensile axial loading. The spiralled shape graphic design is achieved through the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, of which a finite element model is generated. Thus, a 3D 18-dof pentaedric elements are employed to discretise the complex “wired-shape” of the spring, allowing the analysis of the mechanical response of the twin spiralled helical spring under an axial load. The study provides a clear match between the evolution of the theoretical and the numerical tensile and compression normal stresses, being of sinusoidal behaviour. The overall equivalent stress isovalues increases radially from 0° to 180°, being maximal on the internal radial zone at the section 180°. On the other hand, the minimum stress level is located in the centre of the filament cross section.  相似文献

The present study sought to establish whether speech recognition can be disrupted by the presence of amplitude modulation (AM) at a remote spectral region, and whether that disruption depends upon the rate of AM. The goal was to determine whether this paradigm could be used to examine which modulation frequencies in the speech envelope are most important for speech recognition. Consonant identification for a band of speech located in either the low- or high-frequency region was measured in the presence of a band of noise located in the opposite frequency region. The noise was either unmodulated or amplitude modulated by a sinusoid, a band of noise with a fixed absolute bandwidth, or a band of noise with a fixed relative bandwidth. The frequency of the modulator was 4, 16, 32, or 64 Hz. Small amounts of modulation interference were observed for all modulator types, irrespective of the location of the speech band. More important, the interference depended on modulation frequency, clearly supporting the existence of selectivity of modulation interference with speech stimuli. Overall, the results suggest a primary role of envelope fluctuations around 4 and 16 Hz without excluding the possibility of a contribution by faster rates.  相似文献

To grow high-quality germanium crystals is one of the most important problems of growth industry. The dislocation density is an important parameter of the quality of single crystals. The dislocation densities in germanium crystals 100 mm in diameter, which have various shapes of the side surface and are grown by the Czochralski technique, are experimentally measured. The crystal growth is numerically simulated using heat-transfer and hydrodynamics models and the Alexander–Haasen dislocation model in terms of the CGSim software package. A comparison of the experimental and calculated dislocation densities shows that the dislocation model can be applied to study lattice defects in germanium crystals and to improve their quality.  相似文献

The silica–polyvinyl imidazole core–shell nanoparticles (silica/PVI NPs) with controlled shell thickness and narrow distribution size were fabricated via “grafting‐to” method. First, O‐ethyl xanthate terminated PVI with various chain lengths was produced via the reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using O‐ethyl‐S‐phenyl dithiocarbonate (EPDC) as RAFT agent. Next, three synthesized PVI of different molecular weights (3.4, 6.6, and 11 kg/mol) were successfully grafted to the methacrylate modified silica NPs from solution by radical mediated grafting‐to method. These core–shell NPs were then characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray photoelectron spectrum measurements (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Polyvinyl imidazole molecular weight, reaction time, polymer concentration, and reaction temperature were all used to control the grafting reaction for PVI grafting densities and shell thicknesses. The highest grafting density obtained was close to 1.2 chains/nm2 and was achieved for 3.4 kg/mol PVI at 80°C. The prepared silica/PVINP displayed efficient antifouling properties and stability in concentrated sodium chloride aqueous solutions over a broad pH range for a period of at least 7 days. Spectral integration was measured for pure-tone signals masked by unmodulated or modulated noise bands centered at the signal frequencies. The bands were typically 100 Hz wide, and when modulated, they were sinusoidally amplitude modulated at a rate of 8 Hz and a depth of 100%. In experiment 1, thresholds were first measured for each individual pure tone of a triplet in the presence of its respective masker band, and then for those three tones added together at their respective threshold levels, masked by their respective masker bands. Four sets of triplets were used: 250, 1000, 4000 Hz; 354, 1000, 2828 Hz; 500, 1000, 2000 Hz; and 800, 1000, 1200 Hz. When the masker bands were unmodulated, the amount of spectral integration was about 2.4 dB for all triplets, consistent with the integration expected based on the multiband energy detector model. When the bands were modulated, the amount of integration depended upon the spacing between masker bands; for the two widest spacings, the integration was between about 0 and 3 dB, whereas for the two closest spacings, the integration was approximately 5 dB. Experiments 2 and 3 addressed the cause of this greater spectral integration in the presence of the modulated masker bands with closer spacing. The second experiment demonstrated that sensitivity (d') was proportional to signal power regardless of whether the background noise was modulated or not, and thus the greater integration in dB in the presence of the modulated noise bands could not be accounted for by shallower psychometric functions in those conditions. Instead, the third experiment showed that the greater integration was likely due to the fact that the masker bands were comodulated. In other words, it was probably due to cues related to comodulation masking release when all three bands (and signals) were present.  相似文献

Anion-exchange chromatography was used for separations of the three main immunoglobulin classes in human sera. The material included normal sera as well as sera with monoclonal immunoglobulin components. The Mono Q anion-exchange column was eluted with a stepwise gradient formed by 0.05 and 0.3 M phosphate buffers. No indications of negative effects on the sample components were observed and the protein recovery was high. A fast, easy and reproducible separation of immunoglobulins G, A and M was obtained.  相似文献

During vocal fold vibration, there may be a mucosal wave in the superior-inferior (vertical) direction, resulting in a convergent shape during opening and a divergent shape during closing. Most of our understanding of the converging/diverging shape of the glottis has come from studies in a hemilarynx model. Previous work has shown that vibratory patterns in the full excised larynx are different than the hemilarynx. This study characterized the dynamics of the medial glottal wall geometry during vibrations in the full excised canine larynx model. Using particle image velocimetry, the intraglottal geometry was measured at the midmembranous coronal plane in an excised canine larynx model. Measurements of the glottal area were taken simultaneously using high-speed imaging. The results show that skewing of the glottal area waveform occurs without the presence of a vocal tract and that the phase-lag of the superior edge relative to the inferior edge is smaller than reported and depends on the subglottal pressure. In addition, it shows that the glottal divergence angle during closing is proportional to the magnitude of the acoustic intensity and the intraglottal negative pressure. This preliminary data suggests that more studies are needed to determine the important mechanisms determining the relationship between intraglottal flow, intraglottal geometry, and acoustics.  相似文献
