Optimum coupling of a Gaussian beam to a corner reflector with a four-wavelength antenna

The coupling of a Gaussian radiation beam to a corner reflector with a four-wavelength long wire antenna was studied theoretically and experimentally. The antenna configuration in conjunction with a Schottky barrier diode is recently used widely as a fast submillimeter wave detector. The optimum angle focusing the radiation to the antenna has been obtained and is 11° (half-width at the 8.7dB points).     

Computer simulation for magnetization process in CoCl2 · 2H2O. II.

The magnetization process in the two-dimensional Ising antiferromagnet which stands for CoCl₂ · 2H₂O was investigated by a computer simulation and new five transitions were found in the antiferromagnetic region in addition to those in the ferrimagnetic region.     

Three unusual 22-beta-O-23-hydroxy-(5 alpha)-spirostanol glycosides from the fruits of Solanum torvum

Three novel 22-beta-O-spirostanol oligoglycosides, torvosides J (1), K (2) and L (3) have been isolated from the fruits of Solanum torvum SWARTZ and their chemical structures have been characterized based on the spectroscopic means. They are worth of note as rare 22-beta-O-spirostanol glycosides.     

A new tomato pregnane glycoside from the overripe fruits

A new pregnane glycoside has been isolated from the overripe fruits of Cherry tomato (Mini tomato), Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme (DUNAL) ALEF. The structure was determined to be 3-O-beta-lycotetraosyl 3beta-hydroxy-5alpha-pregn-16-en-20-one on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. The seasonal variation of the tomato saponin is discussed.     

Synthesis of possible metabolites of chlorpromazine. I. 7-hydroxy derivatives of chlorpromazine,nor1-chlorpromazine and nor2-chlorpromazine

The title compounds and various derivatives have been prepared as analytical standards for the identification of chlorpromazine metabolites in biological materials. Additional evidence is presented for the existence of a halogen-induced Smiles rearrangement in the phenothiazine series.     

The effect of impurity scattering on the thermally induced charge imbalance in a clean superconductor

We calculate the charge imbalance generated in a current-carrying clean superconductor by a temperature gradient, assuming that non-magnetic or magnetic impurities are the only source of scattering. The charge imbalance is obtained from exact solutions of the quasiparticle Boltzmann equation, valid at any temperature and superfluid velocity.     

Molecular dynamics study on the structure of shock wave front in a hard-core fluid

Stationary normal shock waves in a hard-core fluid were simulated via molecular dynamics. Profiles of various physical quantities near the shock front were calculated, and their dependence on the fluid density and the shock Mach number was studied.
