A brief overview on second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency generation as surface analytical tools is given with a discussion on the intrinsic limitations of the techniques often encountered in the applications. The possibly of using nonlinear optical processes for surface studies has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Optical Second-Harmonic Generation (SHG) and Sum-Frequency Generation (SFG), in particular, have been well accepted as viable surface probes [1]. They have many advantages over the conventional techniques. By nature, they are highly surface-specific and has a submonolayer sensitivity. As coherent optical processes, they are capable of in-situ probing of surface in hostile environment as well as applicable to all interfaces accessible by light. With ultrafast pump-laser pulses, they can be employed to study surface-dynamic processes with a subpicosecond time resolution. These advantages have opened the door to many exciting research opportunities in surface science and technology. The hydrolysis process on corncob residue was catalyzed synergetically by the cellulase from Trichoderma reesei and the immobilized cellobiase. The feedback inhibition to cellulase reaction caused by the accumulation of cellobiose was
eliminated efficiently. The hydrolysis yield of corncob residue was 82.5%, and the percentage of glucose in the reducing sugar
reached 88.2%. The glucose in the cellulosic hydrolysate could be converted into lactic acid effectively by the immobilized
cells of Lactobacillus delbrueckii. When the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose and the fermentation of lactic acid were coupled together, no glucose was accumulated
in the reaction system, and the feedback inhibition caused by glucose was also eliminated. Under the batch process of synergetic
hydrolysis and lactic acid fermentation with 100 g/L of cellulosic substrate, the conversion efficiency of lactic acid from
cellulose and the productivity of lactic acid reached 92.4% and 0.938 g/(L·h), respectively. By using a fed-batch technique,
the total concentration of cellulosic substrate and lactic acid in the synergetic process increased to 200 and 107.5 g/L,
respectively, whereas the dosage of cellulase reduced from 20 to 15 IU/g of substrate in the batch process. The results of

A mild, chemoselective, and generally high-yielding method for the reductive scission of heterocyclic thioethers is described. Suitable heterocycles have a thioether substituent at the 2-position relative to a ring heteroatom. The convenient and straightforward method is demonstrated with reactants which are not compatible with the standard Raney nickel conditions such as sulfides, sulfones, and thiophenes. Making single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) soluble in water is a challenging first step to use their remarkable electronic and optical properties in a variety of applications. We report that acyclic cucurbit[n]uril molecular containers 1 and 2 selectively solubilize small-diameter and low chiral angle SWNTs. The selectivity is tunable by increasing the concentration of the molecular containers or by adjusting the ionic strength of the solution. Even at a concentration 1000 times lower than typically required for surfactants, the molecular containers render SWNTs soluble in water. Molecular mechanics simulations suggest that these C-shaped acyclic molecules complex the SWNTs such that a large portion of nanotube sidewalls are exposed to the external environment. These "naked" nanotubes fluoresce upon patching the exposed surface with sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate. 相似文献

A new star-shaped donor-acceptor molecule has been synthesized for application as the donor material in solution-processed bulk-heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). The molecule consists of a triphenylamine (TPA) unit as the core and a donor unit with three arms containing benzo[1,2,5]thiadiazole (BT) acceptor units and 5,5’’-dihexyl-2,2′:3′,2″-terthiophene (tTh) end groups. The molecule, denoted S(TPA-BT-tTh), exhibits a broad absorption band in the wavelength range 300-650 nm and high hole mobility of 1.1×10 -4 cm2 V -1 s 1 . An OSC device based on S(TPA-BT-tTh) as donor and [6,6]-phenyl C71 -butyric acid methyl ester (PC 70 BM) as the acceptor (1:3, w/w) exhibited a power conversion efficiency of 2.28% with a short circuit current density of 6.39 mA/cm2 under illumination of AM.1.5, 100 mW/cm2 . 相似文献

Two aggregation-induced emission (AIE) macrocycles (DMP[5]-TPE and PCP[5]-TPE) were prepared by embedding Tetraphenylethene (TPE) unit into the skeletons of Dimethoxypillar[5]arene (DMP[5]) and [15]Paracyclophane ([15]PCP) at meso position, respectively. In crystal, the PCP[5]-TPE showed a distorted cavity, and the incubation of hexane inside the DMP[5]-TPE cavity caused a distinct change in the molecular conformation compared to PCP[5]-TPE. There was no complexation between PCP[5]-TPE and 1,4-dicyanobutane (DCB). UV absorption experiments showed the distorted cavity of DMP[5]-TPE hindered association with DCB. 相似文献
