Compactification of supports of energy weak solutions to quasilinear parabolic equations of nonstationary filtration type with strong convection

The paper deals with localization properties of solutions to the Cauchy problem with the initial data u₀(x) ∈ L₂(ℝ_n) for a wide class of equations in the divergence form. This class contains, e.g., the following equation:

Extensions of l.s.c. Mappings into Reflexive Banach Spaces

Every lower semi-continuous closed-and-convex valued mapping : X2 ^Y where X is a collectionwise normal and countably paracompact space and Y is a reflexive Banach space can be extended to the Dieudonné completion (X) of X. Generalizations and applications to the theory of selections of set-valued mappings are presented.     

Studies of photoinduced addition of water and alcohols to substituted dihydroquinolines

Steady-state photolysis products of 6- and 8-substituted 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinolines in water and lower alcohols were identified by ¹H NMR. In the case of electron-donor substituents, the solvent molecule is added to the double bond of the heterocycle affording the corresponding 4-hydroxy- or 4-alkoxytetrahydroquinolines. Nitro-substituted dihydroquinolines are photostable. The addition of EtOH and PrⁿOH occurs only in the presence of water to give a mixture of alkoxy- and hydroxy-adducts. A reaction scheme is suggested.

Nonthermal glow of thin metal plates and films exposed to Pulsed Laser Radiation

Nonthermal glow excited in molybdenum plates and films as a result of temperature stresses arising under the action of laser pulses is investigated. A relation between the glow excitation threshold and the sample thickness is established. A possible mechanism of nonthermal glow is discussed.
