The effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) on isoprenoid production were evaluated in cultured tissues of Scoparia dulcis. It was found that MeJA suppressed the accumulation of chlorophylls, carotenoids, phytol and beta-sitosterol in the tissues. MeJA, however, remarkably enhanced the production of scopadulcic acid B (SDB), with 10 microM being optimal observed concentration for stimulation of SDB production. Spin relaxation from a triplet excited state to a singlet ground state in a semiconductor quantum dot is studied by employing an electrical pump-and-probe method. Spin relaxation occurs via co-tunneling when the tunneling rate is relatively large, confirmed by a characteristic square dependence of the relaxation rate on the tunneling rate. When co-tunneling is suppressed by reducing the tunneling rate, the intrinsic spin relaxation is dominated by spin-orbit interaction. We discuss a selection rule of the spin-orbit interaction based on the observed double-exponential decay of the triplet state. 相似文献

The decay of mounds about a dozen layers high on the Si(111)-(7x7) surface has been measured quantitatively by scanning tunneling microscopy and compared with analytic predictions for the power-law dependence on time predicted for a step-mediated decay mechanism. Conformably, we find an exponent 1/4 associated with the (3D) decay of the mound height and exponent 1/3 associated with the (2D) decay of top-layer islands. Using parameters from a continuum step model, we capture the essence of the kinetics. Qualitative features distinguish these mounds from multilayer islands found on metals. 相似文献

For the analysis of trace amounts of hazardous organic compounds, we developed a new ion detection system for supersonic jet resonance-enhanced multiphoton laser ionization mass spectrometry. High sensitivity and selectivity have been achieved by combining a proto-type Daly detector, a newly designed conical ion lens, and a potential switch that can perform the function of a mass selector. This ion detection system enables us to bring the jet nozzle closer to the ionization point. The detection sensitivity has thus been improved totally by more than 100 times compared with that obtained by the parallel-plate electrodes and micro-channel plate. A theory of collective motion in superionic conductors is described by the use of a model of a crystalline cage immersed in a viscous liquid. The viscoelastic force and the interionic Coulomb force are considered as the cage—liquid interaction. The density-correlation functions and the frequency-dependent conductivity are calculated. The calculated conductivities for α-AgI are in good agreement with experiments. It is concluded that the structure in a.c. conductivity experimentally observed for α-AgI at frequencies below 10 cm-1 can be ascribed to acoustic phonons. 相似文献

The observed triplet—triplet absorption of 3,3-dimethyl-1-(2-naphthyl)-1-butene is assigned to the planar transoid geometry (3t*) from its spectral similarity to the 3,4-dihydrophenanthrene triplet, a rigid planar model, as well as from the measured rate constants for its quenching by azulene and oxygen. The minimizing problem for a convex program has a dual problem, that is, the maximizing problem of the Lagrangian. Although these problems have a duality gap in general, the duality gap can be eliminated by relaxing the constraint of the minimizing problem, so that the constraint is enforced only in the limit. We extend this result to the convexlike case. Moreover, we obtain a necessary condition for optimality for minimizing problems whose objective function and constraint mapping have convex Gateaux derivative.The authors are indebted to Professor W.
