The adsorption of pyrazine at a polycrystalline Au film electrode has been investigated using in situ surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy (SEIRAS), chronocoulometry, and ac impedance. Combining the SEIRA data and the thermodynamic data (the surface charge density of the electrode and the relative Gibbs surface excess of pyrazine), pyrazine was found to adsorb on the surface with a vertical end-on configuration via one N atom. The SEIRA spectra were compared with published surface-enhanced Raman (SER) spectra of pyrazine in order to clarify the reason for the breakdown of the Raman selection rule in the SER spectra. The activation of originally Raman-forbidden modes in the SER spectra is well explained by a photo-driven charge-transfer mechanism. The charge-transfer is deduced to be from filled metal states near the Fermi level to the first and second excited states of pyrazine. It is emphasized that the comparative SEIRA and SER studies are important for a better understanding of the electrochemical interface. 相似文献

During condensation of R134a the flow patterns inside two three-dimensional (3-D) micro-fin tubes with different fin geometries were investigated. The flow patterns and their transitions were visibly observed and recorded. The experimental findings revealed the following results: a comparison of the condensation flow patterns in the 3-D micro-fin tubes with those in smooth tubes revealed no qualitative differences. The mist flow and the mist-annular flow that appeared in the smooth tube entrance region were not observed in 3-D micro-fin tubes. In the maps of the Mandhane flow regime and the Soliman flow regime, the area of annular flow region of the 3-D micro-fin tube extends towards lower Fr number range in the Soliman map and smaller vapor velocity range in the Mandhane map when compared with that of a smooth tube. The criterion of the flow regime transition between the annular flow and the wavy flow decreases from Fr=7 to Fr=2 in the Soliman flow regime map. However, no significant effect on the criterion for the plug flow transition was observed. The experimental data points of plug flow in the 3-D micro-fin tubes were also obtained in the same regime of smooth tube in Mandhane flow regime map. We propose a Polarization Shift Keying (POLSK) phase diversity homo-dyne system with multiplying detection in coherent optical communications. The proposed system uses only one of three Stokes parameters, which is the phase difference between two orthogonal polarizations. Although such systems using only one Stokes parameter are very sensitive to polarization fluctuation, the proposed system becomes insensitive to the linear polarization fluctuation by using the multiplying detection with a combination of in-phase and quadrature optical signal components on two orthogonal polarizations. Furthermore, insensitivity to phase noise and offset frequency and attractiveness due to homodyne type in high-speed transmissions are maintained. The most attractive feature of the proposed system is that neither a polarization controller nor electronic feedback loop for matching the state of polarization (SOP) between transmitted and local oscillator (LO) optical signals is needed. Diacetylenes substituted with various amide groups were prepared and their solid-state polymerization behavior was studied. A calorimetric study of the isothermal polymerization of 1,6-diacetylamino-2,4-hexadiyne was performed in detail. This compound has an extremely high reactivity. The reaction proceeded very quickly and the ultimate conversion reached over 40% slightly above room temperature. The feature of the reaction resembles those observed in the solid-state polymerization of other diacetylene compounds, i.e., the reaction proceeds slowly in the initial stage, but the rate of reaction increases drastically at about 5% conversion to polymer. Quantitative conversion, however, was not attained at any temperature, and the reaction leveled off within 1.5 h. It is assumed that the reaction cannot continue owing to the distortions generated in the crystals during the polymerization process. Environmental factors (nutrients and pH) influence the retention of Sr, Cs, and Ba as analogue of long-lived radionuclides by the microorganism. The effect of pH and concentration of organic nutrients are proved to be significant factors for retention of cations (Sr, Cs and Ba) by the microorganisms inoculated from surface soil. Microorganisms can affect the speciation of Sr, Cs, and Ba in the environment.
