On the verge of inconsistency: Magidor cardinals and Magidor filters

We introduce a model-theoretic characterization of Magidor cardinals, from which we infer that Magidor filters are beyond ZFC-inconsistency.     

The Influence of the Radiofrequency Excitation and Conversion Pulses on the Lineshapes and Intensities of the Triple-Quantum MAS NMR Spectra of I = 3/2 Nuclei

A rigorous examination of the various multiple-quantum magic angle spinning sequences is carried out with reference to sensitivity enhancement in the isotropic dimension and the lineshapes of the corresponding MAS peaks in the anisotropic dimension. An echo efficiency parameter is defined here, which is shown to be an indicator of the performance aspects of the various sequences. This can be used in the design of further new experiments in this field. A consequence of such a systematic analysis has been the combination of a spin-lock pulse for excitation of multiple-quantum coherences and an amplitude-modulated pulse for their conversion to observable single-quantum coherences. This approach has resulted in an improved performance over other sequences with respect to both the anisotropic lineshapes and the isotropic intensities.

We prove the consistency of ? with the negation of Galvin's property. On the other hand, we show that superclub implies Galvin's property. We also prove the consistency of ${?}_{{\kappa }^{+}}$ with ${\mathfrak{s}}_{\kappa }>{\kappa }^{+}$ for a supercompact cardinal κ.     

Direct hydrogenation of amides to alcohols and amines under mild conditions

The selective, direct hydrogenation of amides to the corresponding alcohols and amines with cleavage of the C-N bond was discovered. The expected products of C-O cleavage are not formed (except as traces in the case of anilides). The reaction proceeds under mild pressure and neutral, homogeneous conditions using a dearomatized, bipyridyl-based PNN Ru(II) pincer complex as a catalyst. The postulated mechanism involves metal-ligand cooperation by aromatization-dearomatization of the heteroaromatic pincer core and does not involve hydrolytic cleavage of the amide. The simplicity, generality, and efficiency of this environmentally benign process make it attractive for the direct transformations of amides to alcohols and amines in good to excellent yields.     

C-C versus C-H activation and versus agostic C-C interaction controlled by electron density at the metal center

Based on the PCN ligand 2, a remarkable degree of control over C-C versus C-H bond activation and versus formation of an agostic C-C complex was demonstrated by choice of cationic [Rh(CO)(n)(C(2)H(4))(2-n)] (n=0, 1, 2) precursors. Whereas reaction of 2 with [Rh(C(2)H(4))(2)(solv)(n)]BF(4) results in exclusive C-C bond activation to yield product 5, reaction with the dicarbonyl precursor [Rh(CO)(2)(solv)(n)]BF(4) leads to formation of the C-H activated complex 9. The latter process is promoted by intramolecular deprotonation of the C-H bond by the hemilabile amine arm of the PCN ligand. The mixed monocarbonyl monoethylene Rh species [Rh(CO)(C(2)H(4))]BF(4) reacts with the PCN ligand 2 to give an agostic complex 7. The C-C activated complex 5 is easily converted to the C-H activated one (9) by reaction with CO; the reaction proceeds by a unique sequence of 1,2-metal-to-carbon methyl shift, agostic interaction, and C-H activation processes. Similarly, the C-C agostic complex 7 is converted to the same C-H activated product 9 by treatment with CO.     

New99mTc-diiodine substituted IDA derivative (DIIODIDA) for hepatobiliary imaging

A new diiodine substituted IDA derivative, 2,4-diiodine-6-methyl IDA (DIIODIDA) was synthesized and labeled with^99mTc. It was established that^99mTc-DIIODIDA had high radiochemical purity. Biodistribution and influence of bilirubin on^99mTc-DIIODIDA biokinetics has been studied in rats and compared to the corresponding results for^99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA. Related to^99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA,^99mTc-DIIODIDA has much better biliary exretion (55.18 versus 43.63%). No change of^99mTc-DIIODIDA biokinetics, under influence of bilirubin was noticed. Biliary excretion of^99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA has been reduced for about 60%. The protein binding of^99mTc-DIIODIDA and^99mTc-SOLCOIODIDA were also determined, using in vitro method of precipitation. These results showed that^99mTc-DIIODIDA hepatobiliary imaging agent is superior to the presently used^99mTc-monoiodine IDA derivatives.
