Abstract— HPLC analysis of neurosporene extracted from the chromatophore membranes of Rhodobacter spheroides G1C showed two isomeric components 1 and 2. Extract from the light-harvesting complex (LH) gave only component 2, while extract from the reaction center (RC) mainly gave component 1. Both components were isolated, and their configurations were determined by means of (1) resonance Raman, (2) electronic absorption, and (3) 1 H-HMR spectroscopy. The configuration of component 2 originating from LH was determined to be all -trans and that of component 1 from RC was determined to be 15- cis . Thus, our previous configurational prediction of this particular carotenoid bound to RC, by means of resonance Raman spectroscopy, to be 15-cis [Y. Koyama, T. Takii, K. Saiki and K. Mechanical properties of polyimide films are degraded by exposure to a low earth orbit environment. The main environmental factor for that degradation is atomic oxygen (AO). Using tensile tests, AO-irradiated surface topography observations, and fracture surface analyses, this study investigated the degradation behavior of polyimide films’ mechanical properties by increased AO fluence and its accompanying degradation mechanisms. Tensile strength and elongation of polyimide films were reduced concomitantly with increased AO fluence. Furthermore, AO-irradiated polyimide films fractured from the AO-irradiated surfaces, of which roughness became marked as AO fluence increased. These results reflect that reduction of mechanical properties is attributable to the roughness increase in AO-irradiated surfaces. Polyimide films coated with indium tin oxide (ITO) were also evaluated to confirm the degradation behavior of AO protective films. Surfaces of ITO-coated polyimide films remained smooth even after AO irradiation. However, undercut cavities were formed at ITO coating defect sites. Rupture of ITO-coated polyimide films initiates from the undercut cavities, engendering large reduction of tensile strength and elongation. The degradation of the mechanical properties of ITO-coated polyimide films increased substantially until the undercut cavities fully penetrated the film. 相似文献

Large-size single crystals of β-Ga2O3 with 1 inc in diameter have been grown by the floating zone technique. The stable growth conditions have been determined by the examination of the crystal structure. Wafers have been cut and fine polished in the (1 0 0), (0 1 0) and (0 0 1) planes. These were highly transparent in the visible and near UV, as well as electrically conductive, indicating the potential use of β-Ga2O3 as a substrate for optoelectic devices operating in the visible/near UV and with vertical current flow. 相似文献

A novel highly water-soluble tetrazolium salt, WST-1 (4-[3-(4-iodophenyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-2H-5-tetrazolio]-1,3-benzene disulfonate sodium salt), can be reduced to water-soluble formazan with a superoxide anion. Here, the WST-1 assay was applied to detect the superoxide anion generated during the Maillard reaction. A sample solution containing carbonyl compounds such as glyceraldehyde and glycolaldehyde (5 mM) and Na-acetyl-L-lysine (10 mM) was incubated for 2 days at 37 degrees C. The detection of a superoxide anion generated in the sample was performed by the WST-1 assay, and the result was compared with the cytochrome c assay. The reduction of WST-1 was almost perfectly (86-96%) inhibited by the addition of the superoxide dismutase (SOD). On the contrary, the reduction of cytochrome c was slightly (20-25%) inhibited by the addition of SOD. A similar result was observed for the addition of 4,5-dihydroxy-1,3-benzene disulfonic acid (Tiron). These results mean that the specificity of WST-1 to the superoxide anion was superior to that of cytochrome c. It was also possible to continuously monitor superoxide anion generation during the Maillard reaction by the coexistence of WST-1 in the reaction solution. 相似文献

The ultraviolet, visible, and near IR (0.8-2.4 μm) luminescence spectra of BaY2F8 single crystals heavily doped with Ho3+ ions (10 and 30 mol%) have been investigated at room temperature and 12 K, together with the luminescence decay curves (up to 300 μs) of the visible emission. Excitation in the visible region gives rise to very strong emission bands originating from the first 5I7 level and located around 2070 nm. However the 5I7 emission is not observed upon excitation at wavelengths shorter than 300 nm. The inter-ionic processes are found to shorten the decay times of the levels emitting in the visible region with respect to the corresponding radiative lifetimes. 相似文献
