The mechanism of dissociation of neutral methyl stearate and its hydrogen atom adduct was investigated by charge inversion mass spectrometry using an alkali metal target. Migrations of functional groups in fatty acid ester ions are often observed during the dissociation of the cations in collisionally activated dissociation (CAD). In the charge inversion spectrum, the main dissociation channels of methyl stearate molecule are the loss of a CH3 radical or a H atom. To identify the source of the CH3 radical and the H atom, the charge inversion spectra of partially deuterated methyl stearate (C17H35COOCD3) were measured. The loss of CH3 occurred through elimination from the methoxy methyl group and that of H occurred through elimination from the hydrocarbon chain of the fatty acid group. In the protonated ester, a simultaneous loss of CH3 (from the methoxy methyl group) and a H atom or a H2 molecule was observed. The charge inversion process gave the dissociation fragments with almost no migration of atoms. Only a few peaks that were structure sensitive were observed in the higher mass region in the charge inversion spectra; these peaks were associated with dissociations of energy-selected neutral species, unlike the case of CAD spectra in which they result from dissociation of ions. Charge inversion mass spectrometry with alkali metal targets provided direct information on the dissociation mechanism of methyl stearate and its hydrogen atom adduct without any migration of functional groups. 相似文献

A study has been made of the atmospheric-pressure Penning ionization (APPeI) of aliphatic hydrocarbons (pentane, hexane, heptane, and octane) with long-lived rare gas atoms (Rg*). The metastable rare gas atoms (He*, Ne*, Ar* and Kr*) were generated by the negative-mode corona discharge of atmospheric-pressure rare gases. In the Rg*APPeI mass spectra for aliphatic hyrocarbons, the relative abundances of fragment ions were found to increase in the order of He* --> Ne* --> Ar* --> Kr*. The order is in the opposite direction to the internal energies of the Rg*. The less fragmentation observed for He* may be because the nascent molecular ions [M(+.)]* formed by Penning ionization have lifetimes long enough for them to be collisionally deactivated in the atmospheric-pressure ion source. It was found that the relative abundances of fragment ions in Ar*APPeI increased when the sample pressure in the ion source was reduced. A third DNA base pair, which is synthesized efficiently and selectively, would have wide ranging applications from synthetic organisms to nucleic acids biotechnology. Hydrophobic unnatural nucleobases offer a promising route to such a pair, but are often limited by inefficient extension, defined as synthesis immediately following the unnatural pair. Here, we describe a simple screen which enables the characterization of large numbers of previously uncharacterized hetero base pairs. From this screen, we identified a class of unnatural base pairs which are extended more efficiently than any unnatural base pair reported to date. Screening, when complemented by further kinetic analysis, can improve the understanding of the determinants of efficient extension as well as identify viable hetero base pairs. 相似文献

Dispersion polymerization of 4-vinylpyridine was performed by using polystyrene-block-polybutadiene as stabilizer in a mixture of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and toluene to produce polymer particles. The weight ratio of the solvents affects the particle size and dispersity. In the range of DMF content from 5 to 20 wt.-%, uniform particles of a diameter of ca. 1 μm were obtained. The effect of types of fillers on mechanical properties of rigid polyurethane composite samples was investigated. Polyurethane (PU) composites were prepared using a molasses polyol (MP, a mixture of molasses and polyethylene glycol, Mw=200) diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and fillers. The following plant particles, bamboo powder, roast bamboo powder, wood meal, coffee grounds, ground coffee bean parchment and cellulose powder, were used as fillers. The mixture of MP and fillers was reacted with MDI by adding an adequate amount of acetone as a solvent. The content of fillers was defined as the ratio of filler weight to total weight of polyol and fillers. The filler content was varied from 10 to 90 wt%. Polyurethane (PU) composites were prepared using fillers with MP. Lengths of major axis and minor axis for each particle regarded as an ellipse were measured using an optical microscope. Averages of diameter and aspect ratio were derived for each plant particle. The relationships between these average values and the mechanical properties, such as strength and elastic modulus, determined by the compression tests were investigated. The effect of filler content was estimated using the apparent volume ratio which is determined as the ratio of the apparent volume of fillers to the reciprocal values of the apparent density of samples. The master curves of the relationships between the specific values of mechanical properties and the apparent volume ratio were obtained. It was found that the compression strength and the elastic modulus for composite samples with different fillers showed maximum values at average aspect ratio around 3. It was also found that the apparent volume ratio, where the mechanical properties showed maximums, decreases with increasing aspect ratio. Using master curves, it is possible to evaluate the mechanical properties of plant particle filled polyurethane composites are described. 相似文献
