Experimental and theoretical study of the effect of the substituent nature on the luminescent properties of scandium complexes with substituted 8-hydroxyquinolines

The luminescent properties of homoleptic scandium complexes with 2-substituted 8-hydroquinolines bearing the substituent groups H (1), CH₃ (2), CN (3), and NH₂ (4) were studied for use as emission layers in organic light-emitting diodes. It was found that the introduction of a substituent into the 2-position makes its possible to effectively shift the emission maximum to the blue or red region: to 530 nm (yellow-green) by 1 and 2, 615 nm (orange) by 3, and 495 nm (blue-green) by 4. The structure and the optical properties of the complexes were determined by density-functional-theory quantum-chemical calculations. The theoretical spectra agree well with the experimental photoluminescence spectra.     

Experimental and theoretical investigation of γ-butyrolactone decomposition on lithium electrode surface. Effect of Li3N layer

Dependence of gassing upon decomposition of 1 M LiClO₄ electrolyte in γ-butyrolactone (γBL) with various contents of water (0.008 and 0.2% w/w) at a lithium electrode on the current density of charging was studied. Quantum chemical modeling of γBL interaction with lithium surface was performed. The initial stage of γBL decomposition is the formation of a surface organolithium compound, which is hydrolyzed in the subsequent reactions with water.     

Structurable superalgebras of Cartan type

We describe the simple Lie superalgebras arising from the unital structurable superalgebras of characteristic 0 and construct four series of the unital simple structurable superalgebras of Cartan type. We give a classification of simple structurable superalgebras of Cartan type over an algebraically closed field F of characteristic 0. Together with the Faulkner theorem on the classification of classical such superalgebras, it gives a classification of the simple structurable superalgebras over F.     

Stability and convergence of the spectral Lagrange-Galerkin method for mixed periodic/non-periodic convection-dominated diffusion problems

We present a convergence analysis of the spectral Lagrange-Galerkinmethod for mixed periodic/non-periodic convection-diffusionproblems. The scheme is unconditionally stable, independentof the diffusion coefficient, even in the case when numericalquadrature is used. The theoretical predictions are illustratedby a series of numerical experiments. For the periodic case,our results present a significant improvement on those givenby Süli & Ware (1991) SIAM J. Numer.Anal.28, 423-445).
