<Emphasis Type="Italic">N,N′</Emphasis>-Bis(9-anthrylmethyl)diamines as fluorescent chemosensors for transition metal cations

N,N′-Bis(9-anthryl)-substituted diamines, imidazolidines, and hexahydropyrimidines were synthesized, and their luminescence properties and complexing ability were studied. N,N′-Bis(9-anthrylmethyl)ethane-1,2-diamine and N,N′-bis(9-anthrylmethyl)butane-1,4-diamine were found to be effective and selective PET chemosensors for Zn²⁺ and H⁺, respectively. 2-[1,3-Bis(9-anthrylmethyl)hexahydropyrimidin-2-yl]-6-methoxyphenol can be used as fluorescent chemosensor for mercury(II) cations.     

Photo- and Ionochromism of Benzoxazolyl-Substituted Spirobenzopyrans

8-Benzoxazolyl-6-formyl-substituted spirobenzopyrans with different acceptor groups in the 5'- position of the indoline moiety have been synthesized. Novel spiropyrans exhibit photochromic properties in an acetone solution at room temperature and form intensely colored complexes with heavy metal cations.     

Benzenoid-quinonoid tautomerism in azomethines and their structural analogs 45. 3-Hydroxy-2-acetyl-1-methylindole imines

Some 3-hydroxy-2-acetyl-1-methylindole N-aryl- and N-alkylimines have been obtained. According to UV and IR spectroscopy, they exist as the acoplanar E-ketoenamine isomers. Reactions of 3,5-di-<Emphasis Type="Italic">tert</Emphasis>-butyl-1,2-benzoquinone with mercapto carboxylic acids

Heating of an equimolar mixture of 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2-benzoquinone with thiosalicylic acid led to 2-[(4,6-di-tert-butyl-2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)thio]benzoic acid. In the case of β-mercaptopropionic acid, 2-[(4,6-di-tert-butyl-2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)thio]propionic acid was formed, which upon reflux in Ac2O was converted to 6,8-di-tert-butyl-9-hydroxy-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,5benzoxathiepin-2-one.     

Numerical modeling of the air flow in the human nasal cavity with simulation of application of the clinical method of active anterior rhinomanometry

The air flow in the human nasal cavity is numerically modeled with the use of the clinical method of measuring of the nasal cavity capacity. Results obtained in this study offer an explanation for the contradiction between the computed data and data obtained during clinical measurements.
