The internal modes of incoherent vector solitons (IVSs) in
photovoltaic photorefractive materials are investigated in the
framework of coupled nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations. It is found
that there is a pair of internal modes corresponding to a
bright--bright IVS. The propagation dynamics of the bright-bright IVS

A method for improving the quality of all-optical switching is presented. Pumping poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films doped with azobenzene chromophore Disperse Red 1 (DR1) with two beams (a linearly and a circularly polarized), all-optical switching effects with very low background and high stability are demonstrated. High frequency switching, which is hard to be realized under pump of a single beam, is obtained. The circularly polarized pump beam can erase the photoinduced birefringence and quicken the relaxation process, thus lowering the background and improving the stability and the extinction ratio of the switching signal. We present a simple and accurate method for characteristic analysis of metal-clad dielectric waveguides and absorptive waveguides. The real partN of the complex modal indexN=N + iN is obtained by solving the corresponding real eigenvalue equation, and the imaginary partN is given by (n/), where= + i is the complex dielectric constant of the absorptive layer, and N/ is obtained by numerical differentiation. The method is straightforward, and the cumbersome solution of complex transcendental equations is completely eliminated. Using an iterated moment method (weighted index method), formulae are derived for the accurate calculation of the dispersion characteristics and field distributions of guided modes in strip dielectric waveguides and strip-loaded waveguides, and for the calculation of the coupling length of rectangular-core dual-channel directional couplers. The formulae are simple and the results obtained by the present analysis agree well with computer-aided exact numerical analysis. 利用线性电光效应发展出一种新的、高准确度的微小转角测量法.根据W.L. She等人提出的线性电光效应耦合波理论,求得出射光强与入射光强比值(即出射率)对入射光方向的依赖曲线,利用该曲线,通过测量出射率可以确定入射光的方向.并根据此原理,设计了一套简单的装置,该装置可以测量出物体微小转角的变化量,同时测量范围及准确度都可通过外加电场和入射光波长加以调节.对此微小转角测量法作了理论分析,在LiNbO3器件上,得到测量范围大于3′,准确度为3.5″的设计结果. 相似文献

A new type of partial-dielectric-loaded rectangular waveguide grating slow-wave structure (SWS) for millimeter wave traveling
wave tube (TWT) is presented in this paper. The radio-frequency characteristics including the dispersion properties, the longitudinal
electric field distribution and the beam-wave coupling impedance of this structure are analyzed. The results show that the
dispersion of the rectangular waveguide grating circuit is weakened, the phase velocity is reduced and the position of the

Spin is an intrinsic property of the photon. A method for using an externally applied dc electric field to manipulate the transfer of spin angular momentum of light in an optically active medium is presented. To discuss this, we first develop a wave coupling theory of the mutual action of natural optical activity and the linear electro-optic effect. Besides being used for analyzing the electrically controlled transfer of spin angular momentum of light, the theory can also be used to describe the propagation of light traveling along an arbitrary direction in any optically active medium with an external dc electric field along an arbitrary direction. 相似文献
