The formation of PM10 (particles less than or equal to 10 μm in aerodynamic diameter) during char combustion in both air-firing and oxy-firing was investigated. Three Chinese coals of different ranks (i.e., DT bituminous coal, CF lignite, and YQ anthracite) were devolatilized at 1300 °C in N2 and CO2 atmosphere, respectively, in a drop tube furnace (DTF). The resulting N2-chars and CO2-chars were burned at 1300 °C in both air-firing (O2/N2 = 21/79) and oxy-firing (O2/CO2 = 21/79). The effects of char properties and combustion conditions on PM10 formation during char combustion were studied. It was found that the formation modes and particle size distribution of PM10 from char combustion whether in air-firing or in oxy-firing were similar to those from pulverized coal combustion. The significant amounts of PM0.5 (particles less than or equal to 0.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter) generated from combustion of various chars suggested that the mineral matter left in the chars after coal devolatilization still had great contributions to the formation of ultrafine particles even during the char combustion stage. The concentration of PM10 from char combustion in oxy-firing was generally less than that in air-firing. The properties of the CO2-chars were different from those of the N2-chars, which was likely due to gasification reactions coal particles experienced during devolatilization in CO2 atmosphere. Regardless of the combustion modes, PM10 formation in combustion of N2-char and CO2-char from the same coal was found to be significantly dependent on char properties. For decades the research on thin-film growth has attracted considerable attention as these kinds of materials have the potential for a new generation of device application. It is known that the nuclei at the initial stage of the islands are more stable than others and certain atoms are inert while others are active. In this paper, by using kinetic Monte Carlo simulations, we will show that, when a surfactant layer is used to mediate the growth, a counter-intuitive fractal-to-compact island shape transition can be induced by increasing deposition flux or decreasing growth temperature. Specifically, we introduce a reaction-limited aggregation (RLA) theory, where the physical process controlling the island shape transition is the shielding effect of adatoms stuck to the stable islands on the incoming adatoms. Moreover, the origin of a transition from triangular to hexagonal and then to inverted triangular as well as the decay characteristics of three-dimensional islands on the surface and relations of our unique predictions with recent experiments will be discussed. Furthermore, we will present a novel idea to make use of the condensation energy of adatoms to control the island evolution along a special direction. 相似文献

We investigate an asymmetric intensive fiber Bragg grating (FBG) defined Fabry–Perot (F–P) sensor system decoded by a multiple-path-matched Michelson interferometer. The interrogation of higher order reflection beams cannot only solve the problem of the degraded resolution induced by the spectral mismatch of the FBGs, but also amplify the effect of the fiber strain on the phase of the light. We demonstrate multiple reflection beams in the F–P cavity based on the concept of the FBG effective length for constructing respective interrogation interferometers, and present a cost function with optimized system parameters to improve noise properties. The performances of interrogating the second, third and fourth order reflection beams are compared in a strain sensing experiment arrangement. Under the condition of the same optical path length mismatch, the interrogation of the fourth order reflection beam can achieve 9.8 dB sensitivity enhancement and 3 dB resolution promotion compared with the result using the second order reflection beam. 相似文献

Gold-coated iron oxide nanoparticle Hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA probes were prepared, and their application for HBV DNA measurement
was studied. Gold-coated iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the citrate reduction of tetra-chloroauric acid in the
presence of iron oxide nanoparticles which were added as seeds. With a fluorescence-based method, the maximal surface coverage
of hexaethiol 30-mer oligonucleotides and the maximal percentage of hybridization strands on gold-coated iron oxide nanoparticles
were (120 ± 8) oligonucleotides per nanoparticle, and (14 ± 2%), respectively, which were comparable with those of (132 ± 10)
and (22 ± 3%) in Au nanoparticle groups. Large network aggregates were formed when gold-coated iron oxide nanoparticle HBV
DNA gene probe was applied to detect HBV DNA molecules as evidenced by transmission electron microscopy and the high specificity
was verified by blot hybridization. Our results further suggested that detecting DNA with iron oxide nanoparticles and magnetic

Multi-line laser transitions from one metastable triplet state to another at wavelengths of 2.92, 3.01, 2.69 and 2.60 μm have
been obtained through high pulse repetition frequency longitudinal discharge in a mixed gas of strontium vapor and helium
buffer gas. The intensity ratio of these laser lines was 5:4:4:1. As far as we know, these laser lines have never been reported
except for 3.01 μm. Some mechanisms for forming a population inversion are initially discussed on the basis of analyzing features
of corresponding energy-level structure and experimental phenomena. It is reasonable to name this kind of laser as an M–M
transition laser according to the feature of the lasing process.

A method for improving the quality of all-optical switching is presented. Pumping poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films doped with azobenzene chromophore Disperse Red 1 (DR1) with two beams (a linearly and a circularly polarized), all-optical switching effects with very low background and high stability are demonstrated. High frequency switching, which is hard to be realized under pump of a single beam, is obtained. The circularly polarized pump beam can erase the photoinduced birefringence and quicken the relaxation process, thus lowering the background and improving the stability and the extinction ratio of the switching signal. A series of near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals were grown by the high-temperature top-seed solution growth (HTTSSG) method from stoichiometric melts doped with 6 mol% K2O. Infrared (IR) transmission spectra were measured and discussed in terms of the defect structure of the near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals. The results of the transmitted beam pattern distortion method show that the optical damage resistance of the near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals increases rapidly when the ZnO concentration exceeds a threshold value. The threshold value concentration of ZnO of the near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals is much lower than that of the congruent LiNbO3 crystals. The dependence of the optical damage resistance on the defect structure of the near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals are discussed, and the holographic recording properties of the near-stoichiometric Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals are investigated. 相似文献
