Strongly coupled dusty plasma medium is often described as a viscoelastic fluid that retains its memory. In a flowing dusty plasma medium, vortices of different sizes appear when the flow does not remain laminar. The vortices also merge to transfer energy between different scales. In the present work, we study the effect of viscoelasticity and compressibility over a localized vortex structure and multiple rotational vortices in a strongly coupled viscoelastic dusty plasma medium. In case of single rotating vortex flow, a transverse wave is generated from the localized vortex source and the evolution time of generated waves is found to be reduced due to finite viscoelasticity and compressibility of the medium. It is found that the viscoelasticity suppresses the dispersion of vorticity. In the presence of multiple vortices, we find, the vortex mergers get highly affected in the presence of memory effect of the fluid, and thus the dynamics of the medium gets completely altered compared to a non‐viscoelastic fluid. For a compressible fluid, viscoelasticity dampens the energy in the sonic waves generated in the medium. Thus a highly viscoelastic and compressible fluid, in some cases, behaves similarly to an incompressible viscoelastic fluid. The wave‐front like rings propagate in elliptical orbits keeping the footprint of the earlier position of the point‐vortex. The rings collide with each other even within the patch vortex region forming regions of high vorticity at the point of intersection and pass through each other.  相似文献

Surface integral equation based methods are advantageous for simulation of electromagnetic waves scattered by three dimensional obstacles, because they efficiently reduce the dimension of the problem and are robust for high-frequency problems. However, the cost of setting up the associated discretized dense linear systems is prohibitive due to evaluation of highly oscillatory magnetic and electric dipole surface integral operators using standard cubatures. The computational complexity of evaluating such integrals depends on the incident wave frequency, and the size and shape of the obstacles. In this work we discuss a surface integral reformulation of the scattering problem that involves evaluation of surface integrals with a highly oscillatory physical density, and discuss methods for efficient evaluation of such integrals for a class of smooth three dimensional scatterers whose diameter is a large multiple of the incident wavelength. High spin states of 72,73,74Se nuclei are discussed using calculations from the cranked Nilsson Strutinsky method with tuning to fixed spins. The low spin anomaly in the yrast bands of these nuclei is interpreted in a rotational co-existence picture. High K rotational isomers are proposed for I π =4+ in 72Se and 6+ in 74Se.  相似文献

Analysis of carcinogenic substances is a high-priority area. Carcinogenic arylamines draw the analyst's attention because dyes and pigments are in production and used in large volumes. Identification of carcinogenic isomers of arylamines employing micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), a mode of capillary electrophoresis was studied as it offers better scope for separation science. Mixed micellar modes of MEKC techniques were employed to achieve acceptable analyses. Success of this analytical method was proved by real-sample analysis, which confirmed that this is a promising technique for the arylamine species.  相似文献

The powered resonance tube (PRT) actuator and its variants are new developments in active flow control (AFC) technology. The PRT is attractive because it has no moving parts and can produce acoustic tones that have amplitudes greater than 150 dB over a large frequency bandwidth. The first part of this paper deals with the resonance characteristics of the PRT as a function of the operating parameters such as jet-to-tube spacing (Sp), tube depth (d), and nozzle pressure ratio (NPR). It was found that: (1) at low NPR (3.33), the PRT resonates at discrete combinations of spacing and depth. (2) Using theoretical estimates for predicting shock cell lengths, one could observe a correlation between the theoretical prediction for shock cell length and the spacing at which the PRT resonates. (3) At high NPR (4.29), for a fixed depth, the PRT resonates at virtually all spacings. (4) The frequency at which the PRT resonates remains approximately constant, regardless of spacing. The second part of the study focused on examining the directivity of the acoustic radiation from the PRT—significant for developing orientation strategies of the PRT with respect to the target flow in the end application. The directivity of the fundamental PRT tone and that of its harmonics were studied for a variety of resonance frequencies, both separately as well as cumulatively. It was found that the fundamental part of the actuation signal radiated predominantly in the downstream direction of the jet for low resonance frequencies. As the resonance frequency was increased from 3 to 12 kHz, the directivity changed from downstream of the jet to vertically upward, and finally upstream of the jet at the higher frequencies.

We propose and analyse a fully discrete Petrov–Galerkinmethod with quadrature, for solving second-order, variable coefficient,elliptic boundary value problems on rectangular domains. Inour scheme, the trial space consists of C2 splines of degreer 3, the test space consists of C0 splines of degree r –2, and we use composite (r – 1)-point Gauss quadrature.We show existence and uniqueness of the approximate solutionand establish optimal order error bounds in H2, H1 and L2 norms.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of "critical epinucleation to distinguish nucleation on surfaces with and without reconstruction. On a reconstructed surface, the critical classical nucleus is stable against dissociation, but may not yet break the underlying surface reconstruction. Consequently, there must exist a "critical epinucleus" that is not only stable but also has established the epiconfiguration by unreconstructing the underlying substrate. We illustrate this concept by first-principle calculation of homonucleation on reconstructed Si(001) surface where the critical epinucleus consists of six adatoms.  相似文献
