We describe a novel technique for stabilizing frequency shifts in laser-interrogated vapor-cell atomic clocks. The method suppresses frequency shifts due to changes in the laser frequency, intensity, and modulation index as well as atomic vapor density. The clock operating parameters are monitored by using the atoms themselves, rather than by using conventional schemes for laser frequency and cell temperature control. The experiment is realized using a chip-scale atomic clock. The novel atomic-based stabilization approach results in a simpler setup and improved long-term performance.  相似文献

The resolution of electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) is limited by delocalization of inelastic electron scattering rather than probe size in an aberration corrected scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM). In this study, we present an experimental quantification of EELS spatial resolution using chemically modulated 2×(LaMnO(3))/2×(SrTiO(3)) and 2×(SrVO(3))/2×(SrTiO(3)) superlattices by measuring the full width at half maxima (FWHM) of integrated Ti M(2,3), Ti L(2,3), V L(2,3), Mn L(2,3), La N(4,5), La N(2,3) La M(4,5) and Sr L(3) edges over the superlattices. The EELS signals recorded using large collection angles are peaked at atomic columns. The FWHM of the EELS profile, obtained by curve-fitting, reveals a systematic trend with the energy loss for the Ti, V, and Mn edges. However, the experimental FWHM of the Sr and La edges deviates significantly from the observed experimental tendency.  相似文献

CrSiN coatings were deposited on stainless steel (Grade: SA304) and silicon Si(1 0 0) substrates, with varying argon-nitrogen gas proportions and deposition temperature, using reactive magnetron sputtering technique in the present work. The influence of sputtering (Ar) and reactive gas proportions (N2) and temperature on the structural properties of the CrSiN coating was investigated. A small amount of silicon content (3.67 at.% Si) plays a crucial role in addition to the nitrogen content for the formation of different phases in the CrSiN coatings as observed in the present work. For example, the coating with comparatively low nitrogen content, 40% N2, during deposition, formed a crystalline structure consisting of nano-crystalline CrN which is separated by an amorphous SiN phase, as evident from X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. The formation of CrN(1 1 1) and Cr2N(1 1 1) phases has occurred at 30% N2 with 3.67% Si content, which transformed in to CrN(1 1 1) and CrN(2 0 0) with increase in N2 content but with same Si content. The surface topography and morphology of the coatings were analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), respectively. A less columnar growth is observed in CrSiN coatings deposited at low argon content, Ar:N2 (20:80), and with 3.67 at.% Si in the coatings. However, it becomes dense with increase in nitrogen content and temperature. The XRD analysis showed that the intensity of a dominating peak (1 1 1) is decreasing from (80:20) to (60:40) argon:nitrogen environment. With a further increase of nitrogen content, from (60:40), in the sputtering gas mixture, to (40:60) argon-nitrogen, there is a sudden increase in (1 1 1) peak and above (40:60), the peak reduction rate is very slow than the previous one. The (1 1 1) and (2 0 0) peak intensity variations are very limited due to high nitrogen content, above 50%, and considerable amount of Si atoms, 3.67 at.%, present in the CrN coatings.  相似文献

We have studied the magnetic and transport properties of Fe doped La0.65A0.35Mn0.95Fe0.05O3 (A = Ca, Sr, Pb, Ba) manganites. All the compositions show ferromagnetic/metal to paramagnetic/insulator transition (TC) except the Pb doped sample which is insulating and ferromagnetic (FM) in the entire temperature range. The magnetization and TC are decreased by decreasing the cation size on La site. The transition temperature and magnetic moment at 77 K is a maximum for Sr doped sample and is decreasing if we increase or decrease the cation size from Sr size. The maximum value of TC and magnetic moment for Sr based sample is most likely due to the closer ionic sizes of La and Sr as compared to the other dopants (Ca, Pb, and Ba). We observed a spin freezing type effect in the Pb doped sample below 120 K in resistivity, ac susceptibility and in magnetization. This suggests that the AFM interactions introduced by the Fe are most effective in the Pb doped composition leading to increased competition between the FM and AFM interactions. This FM and AFM interaction generates some degree of frustration leading to the appearance of spin glass like phase whose typical magnetic behavior is studied for small ion when the metallic like behavior is lost.  相似文献

SPR based fiber optic sensor using nanocomposite is presented. Nanocomposites comprising of Pt nanoparticles with various volume fractions embedded in dielectric matrices of TiO2 and SnO2 are considered. Sensitivity enhances with increase in thickness of nanocomposite and volume fraction of nanoparticles for both nanocomposites. Optimized thicknesses are obtained to be 40 and 50 nm for Pt–TiO2 and Pt–SnO2 nanocomposites respectively while optimized volume fraction is found to be 0.85 for both nanocomposites. 40 nm thick Pt–TiO2 nanocomposite based sensor with 0.85 volume fraction possesses utmost sensitivity.  相似文献

The dispersion relations of parallel propagating modes(Langmuir mode, right and left handed circular polarized waves) in the weak magnetic field limit |ω-k·v| ? are considered for ultra-relativistic arbitrary degenerate electron plasma. The results are presented in terms of moments of Fermi-Dirac distribution. The increase in the electron equilibrium number density from negative large(weakly degenerate) to positive large(highly degenerate) values of μ/T_e is observed(where μ is the electron chemical potential and T_e is the electron thermal energy). As a result, shifting of the cutoff points in all the real dispersion branches towards the higher values and increasing in the band gap between unmagnetized longitudinal and transverse modes in k-space are examined. Also, the suppression of the weak magnetic field effects in weakly magnetized right handed and left handed circular polarized waves and a decrease in the longitudinal and transverse screening effects are observed in the graphical patterns due to an increase in the equilibrium number density.  相似文献

The question of stability against diffusional mixing at the prototypical LaAlO3/SrTiO3(001) interface is explored using a multi-faceted experimental and theoretical approach. We combine analytical methods with a range of sensitivities to elemental concentrations and spatial separations to investigate interfaces grown using on-axis pulsed laser deposition. We also employ computational modeling based on the density function theory as well as classical force fields to explore the energetic stability of a wide variety of intermixed atomic configurations relative to the idealized, atomically abrupt model. Statistical analysis of the calculated energies for the various configurations is used to elucidate the relative thermodynamic stability of intermixed and abrupt configurations. We find that on both experimental and theoretical fronts, the tendency toward intermixing is very strong. We have also measured and calculated key electronic properties such as potential energy gradients and valence band discontinuity at the interface. We find no measurable electric field in either the LaAlO3 or SrTiO3, and that the valence band offset is near zero, partitioning the band discontinuity almost entirely to the conduction band edge. Significantly, we find it is not possible to account for these electronic properties theoretically without including extensive intermixing in our physical model of the interface. The atomic configurations which give the greatest electrostatic stability are those that eliminate the interface dipole by intermixing, calling into question the conventional explanation for conductivity at this interface—electronic reconstruction. Rather, evidence is presented for La indiffusion and doping of the SrTiO3 below the interface as being the cause of the observed conductivity.  相似文献

Purpose

To evaluate the clinical outcomes of conservative management by observation with MRI of patients with branch-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (BD-IPMNs).

Materials and Methods

Twenty-three consecutive patients, who were followed up by MRI with magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) over a period of more than 9 months after initial MRI examinations, were enrolled in this study. On MRI, number of lesions, the maximum diameter of BD-IPMNs, lesion location, the presence of associated dilatation of main pancreatic duct (MPD), the presence of enhancing mural nodules within the lesion and the presence of interval change were retrospectively reviewed on initial and follow-up MR images in consensus by two radiologists. All patients were evaluated to search for evidence of malignant progression of disease.

Results

The follow-up period ranged from 10 to 96 months (mean, 37 months). On initial MRI with MRCP, a total of 39 lesions were found in 23 patients. The maximum diameter of BD-IPMNs ranged between 6 and 32 mm, with a mean of 12 mm. Thirty-four lesions (87%) of 19 patients remained unchanged in the maximum diameter. Five lesions (13%) of four patients showed an increase in the maximum diameter. Enhancing mural nodules were not found in any individual, neither on the initial MRI study nor on the follow-up studies. There was no patient who had evidence of local aggressive growth of tumor or evidence of metastases to distant sites.

Conclusion

Our study suggests that branch-duct IPMNs without enhancing mural nodules are essentially benign and should be managed nonoperatively through observation by MRI.  相似文献
