A combination of ab initio quantum mechanical (QM) calculations and canonical Monte Carlo (CMC) simulations are employed to investigate possible usage of single-walled silicon nanotubes (SWSiNTs) as a novel media for hydrogen and methane adsorption as well as their separation from each other. By fitting the force field, a Morse potential model is selected as an efficient potential to describe the binding energies between both hydrogen-SiNTs and methane-SiNTs obtained from ab initio calculations. Then CMC simulations are performed to evaluate the adsorption and separation behaviors of H2 and CH4 on the three different sizes of SiNTs including (5, 5), (7, 7), and (9, 9) SiNTs at ambient temperatures and pressures from 1 up to 10 MPa. As a comparison, the adsorption and separation of H2 and CH4 on the (8, 8) CNTs which are isodiameter with (5, 5) SiNTs are also simulated. Results are indicative of remarkable enhancement of H2 and CH4 adsorption capacity on the SiNTs compared to the CNTs, which arise from stronger van der Waals (VDW) attractions. In the case of methane adsorption on SiNTs, the stored volumetric energy exceeds the goal of the US Freedom CAR Partnership by 2010, which can not be achieved by methane compression at such low pressures. Moreover, simulation results indicate that SiNTs preferentially adsorb methane relative to hydrogen in their equimolar mixture, which results in efficient separation of these gases from each other at 293 K. 相似文献

Abstract The oxidation of thiocyanate to polythiocyanic acid by peroxydisulfate was carried out in an aqueous solution at room temperature. The primary step is the decomposition of peroxydisulfate into sulfate-free radicals. At room temperature in the presence of peroxydisulfate as a oxidizing agent, HSCN polymerizes to (HSCN)n. The oxidation of thiocyanate in an aqueous solution is often complicated, but here we obtained the polythiocyanic acid as a major product. The effects of postharvest spraying of essential oils from sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum), fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), summer savory (Satureja hortensis) and thyme (Thymus vulgaris) on fungal decay and quality parameters of the 'Thompson seedless' table grape stored at 0?±?1°C for 60 days were evaluated. Results showed that the essential oils, especially of thyme and fennel, have a good inhibitory effect on the development of fungal decay in Thompson table grapes. In addition, essential oils reduced weight loss, berry and rachis browning and had no considerable adverse effect on the flavour of the fruits. GC-MS analysis showed that the main compounds identified in sweet basil, fennel, summer savory and thyme oils are linalool (65.25%), trans-anethole (64.72%), carvacrol (54.14%) and β-ocimene (12.62%), respectively. Therefore, these essential oils have good potential for use as an alternative to synthetic fungicides for the preservation and storage of table grapes. 相似文献

Italian cypress (Cupressus sempervirens, Cups) pollen causes allergic diseases in inhabitants of many of the cities surrounding the Mediterranean basin. However, allergens of Cups pollen are still poorly known. We introduce here a novel proteomic approach based on double one‐dimensional gel electrophoresis (D1‐DE) as an alternative to the 2‐DE immunoblot, for the specific IgE screening of allergenic proteins from pollen extracts. The sequential one‐dimensional combination of IEF and SDS‐PAGE associated with IgE immunoblotting allows a versatile multiplexed immunochemical analysis of selected groups of allergens by converting a single protein spot into an extended protein band. Moreover, the method appears to be valuable for MS/MS identification, without protein purification, of a new Cups pollen allergen at 43 kDa. D1‐DE immunoblotting revealed that the prevalence of IgE sensitization to this allergen belonging to the polygalacturonase (PG) family was 70% in tested French allergic patients. In subsequent triple one‐dimensional gel electrophoresis, the Cups pollen PG was shown to promote lectin‐based protein‐protein interactions. Therefore, D1‐DE could be used in routine work as a convenient alternative to 2‐DE immunoblotting for the simultaneous screening of allergenic components under identical experimental conditions, thereby saving considerable amounts of sera and allergen extracts. 相似文献

Here, we report the fabrication of self-organized titania (TiO(2)) nanotube array supercapacitor electrodes through controlled phase transformation of TiO(2), with aerial capacitances as high as 2.6 mF cm(-2), which far exceeds the values so far reported in the literature. The role of phase transformation in the electrochemical charge-discharge behaviour of nanocrystalline TiO(2) nanotubes is investigated and discussed in detail. The ease of synthesis and the exceptional electrochemical properties make these nanotube arrays an alternative candidate for use in energy storage devices. 相似文献

Despite promising filtration abilities, low mechanical properties of extraordinary porous electrospun nanofibrous membranes could be a major challenge in their industrial development. In addition, such kind of membranes are usually hydrophobic and non-wettable. To reinforce an electrospun nanofibrous membrane made of polyethersulfone (PES) mechanically and chemically (to improve wettability), zirconia nanoparticles as a novel nanofiller in membrane technology were added to the nanofibers. The compressive and tensile results obtained through nanoindentation and tensile tests, respectively, implied an optimum mechanical properties after incorporation of zirconia nanoparticles. Especially compaction resistance of the electrospun nanofibrous membranes improved significantly as long as no agglomeration of the nanoparticles occurred and the electrospun nanocomposite membranes showed a higher tensile properties without any brittleness i.e. a high ductility. Noteworthy, for the first time the compaction level was quantified through a nanoindentation test. In addition to obtaining a desired mechanical performance, the hydrophobicity declined. Combination of promising properties of optimum mechanical and surface chemical properties led to a considerably high water permeability also retention efficiency of the nanocomposite PES nanofibrous membranes. Such finding implies a longer life span and lower energy consumption for a water filtration process. 相似文献

The synthesis and characterisation of nine new tris‐substituted bismuth(III) aminoarenesulfonates of the general formula [Bi(O3S‐RN)3] (RN=o‐aminophenyl 1 , m‐aminophenyl 2 , 6‐amino‐3‐methoxyphenyl 3 , p‐aminophenyl 4 , 2‐pyridyl 5 , o‐aminonaphthyl 6 , 5‐aminonaphthyl 7 , 4‐amino‐3‐hydroxynaphthyl 8 and 5‐isoquinolinyl 9 ) is described. Two synthetic strategies, using Ag2O and [Bi(OtBu)3], were explored and compared. The possibility to access heteroleptic bismuth(III) complexes with the new silver(I) metathesis reaction is demonstrated with the synthesis of the heteroleptic bismuth(III) aminoarenesulfonate complexes [PhBi(O3S‐P2)2(dmso)] 10 , [Ph2Bi(O3S‐P2)]∞ 11 and [PhBi(O3S‐P2)2]∞ 12 , of which the solid state structures 10 and 12 are presented (2P‐SO3?=2‐pyridinesulfonate). These complexes offer remarkable in‐vitro activity against three standard laboratory strains of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) as demonstrated by their exceptionally low minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 0.049 μg mL?1 for the strains 251 and B128, which places most MIC values in the nano‐molar region. These results demonstrate the importance of the amino functionality in addition to the sulfonate group on the bactericidal properties against H. pylori. 相似文献

The dependency of adsorption energy (E) and affinity coefficient (beta) of Dubinin equations (Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) or Dubinin-Astakhov (DA)) on surface chemistry and porosity of activated carbons was investigated by analyzing adsorption of nitrogen, benzene, trichloroethylene (TCE), and water vapor by several surface-modified activated carbons and carbon fibers. For all studied nonpolar adsorbates, carbons with smaller average micropores showed higher adsorption energies independent of their surface chemistry. For water vapor, carbons with higher surface polarities showed higher adsorption energies due to specific adsorbate-adsorbent interactions. Adsorption energies increased with decreasing average micropore widths. betaN2,DR for different carbons were observed to vary in the 0.292-0.539 range. Carbons with higher degrees of mesoporosity had higher betaN2,DR values, while no dependency was observed between betaN2,DR and surface chemistry. A comparison of DR and DA cases indicates that: (1) the average value of betaN2,DA is considerably above the classical value of this parameter; and (2) the range of betaN2,DA values were smaller compared to betaN2,DR, despite a wide range of mesoporosity of carbons examined. Obtained beta(TCE,DR) values varied in the 0.952-1.243 range, with an average value of 1.085+/-0.083, independent of surface chemistry or porosity of activated carbons. A similar result was observed for beta(TCE,DA). betaH2O,DR values of different granular and fibrous activated carbons changed in the range of 0.081-0.271. They depended more on the carbon surface chemistry and less on the porosity. A similar result was obtained when DA equation was considered. 相似文献
