The synthesis of unusual isocoumarin derivatives: the chemistry of homophthalic acid

Homophthalic acid was reacted with thionyl chloride/DMF and ethyl chloroformate/NEt₃ in the presence and absence of NaN₃. In all cases completely different isocoumarin derivatives were obtained. These unusual isocoumarin derivatives were characterized and their mechanism of formation is discussed.     

[Bmim]N3 as an efficient reagent for the Schmidt reactions of ketones,arylaldehydes and aromatic carboxylic acids

Schmidt reaction of arylaldehydes, ketones and aromatic carboxylic acids using task-specific ionic liquid, [bmim]N₃ in the presence of AcOH/H₂SO₄ proceeds at 50–60 °C within 2–4 h to give the corresponding products. Benzaldehydes containing electron releasing groups afforded to the related benzamide derivatives. Benzonitrile derivatives were formed from the reaction of benzaldehydes containing electron withdrawing groups under these conditions. High yields of the related amides and anilines were obtained from the reaction of a variety of ketones and aromatic carboxylic acids, respectively, utilizing this procedure.     

Problems of Lifts in Symplectic Geometry

Let(M,ω)be a symplectic manifold.In this paper,the authors consider the notions of musical(bemolle and diesis)isomorphisms ω~b:T M→T~*M and ω~?:T~*M→TM between tangent and cotangent bundles.The authors prove that the complete lifts of symplectic vector field to tangent and cotangent bundles is ω~b-related.As consequence of analyze of connections between the complete lift ~cω_(T M )of symplectic 2-form ω to tangent bundle and the natural symplectic 2-form dp on cotangent bundle,the authors proved that dp is a pullback o f~cω_(TM)by ω~?.Also,the authors investigate the complete lift ~cφ_T~*_M )of almost complex structure φ to cotangent bundle and prove that it is a transform by ω~?of complete lift~cφ_(T M )to tangent bundle if the triple(M,ω,φ)is an almost holomorphic A-manifold.The transform of complete lifts of vector-valued 2-form is also studied.     

Solvent-Free Synthesis of Nitrilotriacetamide and Diketopiperazines from Nitrilotriacetic Acid under Microwave Irradiation and Their Antimicrobial Activity

Efficient synthesis of dioxopiperazines‐diketopiperzines (DKPs)‐ and amide from nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) using microwave irradiation and classical heating were described. All compounds were characterized using ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR and elemental analysis. Antimicrobial effects of these compounds are also investigated. All tested compounds showed moderate antimicrobial activity.     

Ionic Platinum(II)–Imidobis(diphenylthiophosphinato) Complexes: Preparation,Structure, and Thermal Behavior

The PPh₂P(S)NHP(S)PPh₂ (dppaS₂) ligand reacts with the starting complexes PtCl₂(L-L) (L-L = Ph₂PCH₂PPh₂), (dppm), Ph₂PCH₂CH₂PPh₂ (dppe), Ph₂PCH₂CH₂CH₂PPh₂ (dppp), and NaClO₄·H₂O. Final products are monomeric complexes, and their formulas are [Pt(L-L)(dppaS₂-H)] [(L-L = dppm(1), dppe(2), dppp(3)]. All of these have been characterized by ¹H, ¹³C^,31{P¹H} NMR, FTIR, and elemental analysis. These complexes were also examined by TGA, DTA, and DSC analysis. Complexes 2 and 3 were crystallographically characterized.     

Changes in the mechanical properties of tooth-colored direct restorative materials in relation to time

The objective of this study was to determine the flexural strength, flexural modulus, Vickers hardness of a packable composite (Surefil), and an ormocer (Definite) in comparison with a microhybrid composite (Z-100), a microfil composite (Silux Plus) and a polyacid-modified composite resin (Dyract). Flexural strength and flexural modulus were determined using a three-point bending device. Microhardness was measured with a Vickers indentor. The specimens of each material were prepared according to manufacturer's instructions. The specimens were stored in artificial saliva at pH 6, all at 37°C. The groups were tested at the beginning of the test, at 3 months and at 6 months. Flexural strength values of Surefil and Definite showed a progressive increase. The highest MPa values were determined for Surefil (134.4 MPa) and the lowest MPa values were obtained for Dyract (59.6 MPa). The highest flexural modulus values were revealed for Surefil (10.000 GPa). Z-100, Silux Plus and Definite showed a tendency to decline in relation to time for their flexural modulus. GPa values of Silux Plus were stable at 3 and 6 months. Vickers hardness numbers showed that Surefil was the hardest and Dyract was the weakest material. The interactions of tooth colored dental restorative materials with aqueous lactic acid

In this study, the interaction of packable composite and ormocer with aqueous lactic acid solutions were determined and changes compared with those for a polyacid modified resin composite and a glass ionomer. For each material, namely Solitaire, Z‐100, Definite, Dyract AP and Vitremer, eight cylindrical specimens of 6 mm diameter and 12 mm height were prepared and weighed. They were stored individually in 20 cm³ 0.02 mol^?1 lactic acid solution for 1 week, then the pH was determined and the specimens reweighed. This was repeated at 1 week intervals until the specimens were 6 weeks old. The results of this study showed that; polyacid modified resin composites and resin‐modified glass‐ionomers were capable of increasing the pH of lactic acid solutions. The same groups showed an increase in mass during the first week. Composite resins and ormocer showed less increase in mass than the others. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Preparation and crystallographic characterization of Pd(II) complexes containing imidobis(diphenylthiophosphinato) ligand

The reactions of PdCI₂(L-L) [L-L = Ph₂PCH₂PPh₂(dppm), Ph₂PCH₂CH₂PPh₂(dppe) and Ph₂PCH₂CH₂CH₂PPh₂(dppp)] with equivalent amount of (Ph₂P(S)NHP(S)Ph₂)(dppaS₂) gave the complexes [Pd(L-L)(dppaS₂-H)]ClO₄ [L-L = dppm (1), dppe (2), dppp (3)]. The different synthetic route was used for complex 2 by using of Pd(dppe)Cl₂ and K[N(PSPh₂)₂] as starting materials (2a). All of these complexes have been characterized ³¹P{¹H} NMR, IR and elemental analyses. The complexes 2, 2a and 3 were crystallographically characterized. The coordination geometry around the Pd atoms in these complexes distorted square planar. Six membered dppaS₂-H rings are twist boat conformations in three complexes.     

Determination of Chemical Effect on the Kβ1/Kα, Kβ2/Kα, Kβ2/Kβ1 and Kβ/Kα X-Ray Intensity Ratios of 4d Transition Metals

It is clear that detailed studies performed under identical experimental conditions are desirable to determine the effect of the chemical environment on the value of intensity ratios. To better understand this effect, we conducted measurements on Kβ₁/Kα, Kβ₂/Kα, Kβ₂/Kβ₁ and Kβ/Kα x-ray intensity ratios. The Kα and Kβ_1,2 emission spectra for compounds of 4d transition metals Y, Zr, Nb, and Mo were measured using a Si(Li) solid-state detector. The samples were excited by 22.69 keV x-rays emitted from a ¹⁰⁹Cd radioisotopes source. The experimental results for pure elements are compared with the other experimental and theoretical values.
