Comparative chromatographic study of the sesquiterpenes of someTanacetum species

A comparative qualitative and quantitative analysis has been made by the HPLC method of the sesquiterpene lactones of various fractions obtained from the epigeal pans of three species of tansy,Tanacetum L., growing in Kazakhstan. Transannular cyclization of the E,E-germacradienolide hanphyllin

The results are reported of the interaction of the trans,trans-germacradienolide hanphyllin with m-chloroperbenzoic acid and with 50% sulfuric acid. This leads to a cyclization reaction with the formation of eudesmanolides: 1β-hydroxy-3-oxo-1,4,5,7α(H),6β(H)-eudesm-11(13)-en-6,12-olide, ridentin B, and 3β-hydroxy-5,7α(H),6β(H)-eudesma-4(15),11(13)-dien-6,12-olide; and also products of the opening of the lactone ring as a consequence of transesterification. The structures of the compounds obtained are discussed on the basis of spectral results (IR, PMR, and mass spectra) and of x-ray structural analysis. Thermodynamic properties of cytisine dithiocarbamate derivatives

The heat of solution in water and the heat capacity in the range 173 K-T _m of triethylammonium, sodium, and potassium dithiocarbamates derived from cytisine were studied by calorimetry. The heats of combustion and melting and the standard enthalpies of formation of the compounds were calculated.     

Component composition of essential oils from four species of the genus Achillea growing in Kazakhstan

The component composition of the four species Achillea filipendulina, A. sudetica, A. ledebourii, and A. cartilaginea was studied by GC-MS. It was found that the principal components of the essential oil (%) were santolina alcohol (29.1) and borneol (27.9) for A. filipendulina, linalool (11.8) and caryophyllene (8.9) for A. sudetica, germacrene D (20.55) for A. ledebourii, and α-thujone (26.15) and β-thujone (11.76) for A. cartilaginea. Phosphorus Derivatives of Natural Lactones. Synthesis of New Grosshemin Dialkylphosphonates

New phosphorus-containing derivatives of grosshemin were synthesized in 68-70% yield by reacting this guaianolide with dialkylphosphites. Their structures were established by IR, PMR, ¹³C NMR, and ³¹P NMR spectroscopies and two-dimensional ¹H-¹H NMR spectroscopy (COSY). The reaction of grosshemin with dialkylphosphites was found to be highly stereoselective.     

Thermodynamic Properties of Dimethylaminoarglabin Methyl Iodide C1 8H2 8O3NI and Its Analogs

The heat of solution of dimethylaminoarglabin methyl iodide C_{1 8}H_{2 8}O₃NI at dilutions (mole of salt/mole of water) of 1 : 75000, 1 : 100000, and 1 : 150000 was determined by isothermal calorimetry. The data obtained were used to calculate the standard heat of solution of the compound in an infinitely dilute (standard) aqueous solution. The heats of combustion, melting, and formation of C_{1 8}H_{2 8}O₃NI and 33 its analogs were estimated by approximate methods of chemical thermodynamics.     

Sesquiterpene lactones from plants of the family Asteraceae in the Kazakhstan flora and their biological activity

The results are generalized of the results of a study of 109 species of plants of the family Compositae (Asteraceae) growing on the territory of Kazakhstan. The promising nature is shown of the search for biologically active sesquiterpene -lactones among them. Fourteen new compounds of this series belonging to the germacranolides, eudesmanolides, guaianolides, and pseudogermanolides have been isolated and characterized by various methods. The results are given of biological tests of the lactones isolated and their derivatives.
