Zusammenfassung Nach Abtrennung von Cu(II)-Ionen mit Hilfe der Ringofentechnik ist es möglich, Ultramikromengen Kupfer(II) mit 0,001-m ÄDTA gegen PAN als Indikator zu titrieren. Eine dazu geeignete Arbeitsweise wird angegeben.

Summary Following separation of the Cu(II) ions with the aid of the ring furnace technique, it is possible to titrate ultramicro amounts of copper(II) with 0.001M EDTA in the presence of PAN as indicator. A suitable procedure is given.

Non-conservation of quasiparticles

An adequate canonical transformation of the hamiltonian permitted the full observance of the specific Pauli commutation relations and the elimination of the main quasiparticle non-conservative term. This will allow a correct treatment of the kinematic part of the interaction in many problems.     

The angular dependence of plasmon loss features in XPS spectra from polycrystalline aluminum: Clean surfaces and effects of oxygen adsorption

The angular dependence of relative intensities of bulk- and surface-plasmon loss peaks associated with X-ray photoemission from the Al 2p core level has been measured for aluminum samples under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. At near-grazing electron exit angles, a sixfold increase in the single-surface-plasmon relative intensity is observed, while the single-bulk-plasmon relative intensity is decreased by ～20%. These experimental results are compared with theoretical calculations based on a dispersionless-plasmon jellium model and including both extrinsic and intrinsic plasmon creation. The presence of intrinsic creation is suggested and theoretical relative intensities are in good agreement with, although generally somewhat higher than, corresponding experimental values. For specimens with low coverages of oxygen (～0.15 monolayer), only surface-plasmon loss features are found to be associated with the O 1s core level, indicating near-surface adsorption.     

Contamination of some important kinds of plants by fission products

Quantitative data for some of the radionuclides, most important because of their intensity and radiotoxicity, present in the biosphere after the Chernobyl accident are given for a selected number among numerous plant and food samples analyzed before and after the accident.     

The exponential image of simple complex lie groups of exceptional type

Let G be a connected reductive complex Lie group. Let E _G be the image of the exponential map of G and E' _G its complement in G. We give a purely algebraic characterization of the set E _G and also describe an algorithm for finding all conjugacy classes of G in E' _G . We are mainly interested in the case when the Lie algebra of G is simple and exceptional. Full details are provided for groups G of type G ₂, F ₄, and E ₆. If G is of type G ₂ then there are only two such conjugacy classes.This work was supported by NSERC Grant A-5285.     

The thermochemical behaviour of zeolite inclusion complexes

The thermochemical behaviour of nitrate inclusion complexes of zeolites of type A was investigated and DTA curves recorded. An attempt was made to identify thermal effects. Supplementary information was obtained from the IR spectra of the solid phase before and after heating as well as from the process of denitration of inclusion complexes.     

The magnetoresistivity of dilute AlMn alloys

A set of accurate measurements of the low temperature magnetoresistivity of dilute AlMn alloys is presented. By using an AlV alloys as a baseline, the resulting negative magnetoresistivity is obtained and compared with theoretical calculations.     

Synthesis,physicochemical properties and voltammetric characterization of some new Fe(III) complexes with semicarbazone-based ligands

Several bis(ligand) octahedral complexes of iron(III) with salicylaldehyde semi-, thiosemi-, and S-methylthiosemi- carbazones have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity and magnetic measurements, electronic and IR spectra, as well as by linear sweep and cyclic voltammetry. General procedures for the syntheses of all types of complexes have been established, giving better defined reaction conditions. Physicochemical properties of the novel complexes have been related to those of the already known compounds of the same type.
