Non-equilibrium populations of defects, produced by plastic deformation of Ni, were used to study temperature dependence of the capture cross-section for positrons. A weak positive temperature coefficient was found in material of 99.8% purity but no temperature dependence in 99.99% purity.  相似文献

Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) has been performed in the restricted space of nanolitre droplets with a robust and easy-to-handle coaxial electrode assembly centring a Pt microdisk in a circular Ag electrode. Straightforward and reproducible fabrication of the specially designed probe tips was achieved by using Tollens reaction to chemically deposit a uniform and well-adhering layer of silver on the body of a glass-insulated Pt microdisk electrode. The suitability of the novel dual-electrode SECM tip for measurement in small volumes was evaluated by imaging an array of four Pt band microelectrodes in 500 nL electrolyte.  相似文献

EGGW is a phonatory parameter that can be derived from electroglottographic (EGG) signals and used to infer the relative degree of vocal fold contact. Vocal fold models predict that men will exhibit medial bulging of their vocal folds during phonation but women will not. These models lead us to expect gender differences in the magnitude of EGGW. Nevertheless, significant gender differences in EGGW for adults with normal voices have not been documented in previous studies when EGGW was computed from criterion lines placed at 25%-40% of the amplitude of the uninverted EGG wave form. We hypothesized that EGGW would better reflect gender differences in vocal fold adductory patterns if EGGW was computed from portions of the wave form that were associated with more vocal fold contact. EGGW was measured for seven men and seven women with normal voices. When EGGW was computed from segments of the wave form that were associated with relatively greater vocal fold contact (i.e., using criterion levels of > or = 55%), findings were consistent with the gender-specific adductory patterns that have been proposed from vocal fold models. Guidelines for appropriate placement of criterion lines when computing EGGW are discussed.  相似文献

The first measurements of the d(gamma,p)n differential cross section at forward angles and photon energies above 4 GeV were performed at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab). The results indicate evidence of an angular dependent scaling threshold. Results at straight theta(cm) = 37 degrees are consistent with the constituent counting rules for E(gamma) greater, similar 4 GeV, while those at 70 degrees are consistent with the constituent counting rules for E(gamma) greater, similar 1.5 GeV.  相似文献

Fe/CeH2−δ multilayers exhibit at room temperature evidence of interlayer exchange coupling. Subsequent Fe layers are either parallel or antiparallel to each other, depending on the Fe and CeH2−δ layer thickness. However, when both layers have thickness larger than 15 Å, the antiferromagnetic structure becomes fragmented into domains laterally limited to a few microns, and the magnetic structures become very fragile. Small magnetic fields of a few Oersteds acting on the samples during growth induce helimagnetic configurations which coexist with antiferromagnetic coupling. The magnetic structures can be permanently destroyed by applying magnetic fields larger than 150 Oe.  相似文献

Amphiphilic polybutadiene polyethylene oxide (PB‐PEO) is one of the best known chemistries to form stable vesicular morphologies, stated as polymersomes, in aqueous environment. Mimicking cell membranes, these structures self‐assemble in an “amphiphilic window” determined by 0.15 < f < 0.35 where f is the ratio between the hydrophilic block volume and the entire diblock volume. However the polymersome size distribution also depends on molecular weight (Mn) and in order to gain insight on how f and Mn together determine polymersome size, we prepared PB‐PEO diblock copolymers with different block lengths and analyzed vesicle morphology via Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and Freeze‐fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF‐TEM). We found three main regimes: high f / low Mn with polymersomes of mixed diameter, high f / high Mn with mainly large polymersomes and low f, with mainly small polymersomes. In the first region, the polymersomes are highly polydisperse. There is a tendency towards increased diameter with increasing f and Mn. Taken together our findings can help to identify how polymersome self‐assembly can be controlled to achieve size distribution specificity alleviating the need for subsequent tuning of size via extrusion. This can pave the way for cost‐effective upscaling of polymersome production for biomedical and biomimetic applications. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym.
