The investigation of the 1s HFS provides a good possibility for testing QED effects in a combination of a strong electric
and magnetic field. Here, we report about the laserspectroscopic measurements of the ground state hyperfine splitting in 207Pb81+. To handle this M1-transition in the infrared optical regime with its long lifetime, we developed a new detection technique
using a bunched ion beam. For the observation of fluorescence light, a new mirror system is adapted to the emission characteristics
from an ion beam at relativistic velocities.

Laser spectroscopy at storage rings often suffers from a limited resolution due to Doppler-broadened resonances. Broadening
is caused by the velocity spread of the ions stored in the beam. In the following, the present status of our work on laser
systems specialized on the specific needs of laser spectroscopy at storage rings is reported.
Two pulsed laser systems were developed. One is a dye laser whose spectral bandwidth can be switched by inserting different
Littrow-prisms into the resonator. An increase in bandwidth up to a factor of 45 was achieved. This laser was used for fast
qualitative scans and high resolution measurements. The other laser system is a Nd : YAG laser pumped optical parametric oscillator.
It is a tunable laser system covering the spectral range from 410 to 4000 nm. Furthermore, a continuous wave laser with a
frequency shifted feedback cavity is described. It shows broadband emission with an adjustable bandwidth of up to 4.5 GHz.
This laser can be advantageous for laser cooling of ion beams.

The magnetic properties of a TbNi2Si2 single crystal have been investigated experimentally by specific heat, anisotropy of the susceptibility and magnetization, and inelastic neutron scattering, leading to the determination of its fundamental coupling parameters. The lowest crystalline electric field states are two singlets close to each other, that explains the different magnetic structures evidenced in TbNi2Si2: an amplitude modulated structure, close to T N , a simple antiferromagnetic one at low temperature and an antiphase one when an external magnetic field is applied along the c direction. 相似文献

The synthesis of a specific isotopomer, C6D4H(ortho)-H(ortho)D4C6 of biphenyl is reported. The intramolecular dipolar coupling of the protons leads to a well-resolved single-crystal proton
nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum and allows one to study the dynamics of the phenyl rings in a unique way. At room
temperature and above, the most conspicuous dynamical mode consists of 180° ring flips. The present data together with previous
measurements of the total flip rate allow us to conclude that the rings flip almost exclusively independently of each other.
Between the incommensurate (IC) phase transition of biphenyl at 38 K andT=250 K, the prominent namical mode consists of oscillatory twists ϕ(t) of the two rings. The data allow us to infer the mean square, (φ2), of these twists. (φ2) is found to grow linearly withT for 50<T<200 K. From the slope of (φ2) vs.T the frequency (the wave number[(v)\tilde]\tilde v) is derived. The result is[(v)\tilde] = 20\tilde v = 20 cm−1. ForT<38 K, the spectra give direct evidence of the IC phase transition and its nature (stripelike rather than quiltlike). The

The electrostatic complexation between beta-lactoglobulin and acacia gum was investigated at pH 4.2 and 25 degrees C. The binding isotherm revealed a spontaneous exothermic reaction, leading to a DeltaHobs = -2108 kJ mol(-1) and a saturation protein to polysaccharide weight mixing ratio of 2:1. Soluble electrostatic complexes formed in these conditions were characterized by a hydrodynamic diameter of 119 +/- 0.6 nm and a polydispersity index of 0.097. The effect of time on the interfacial and foaming properties of these soluble complexes was investigated at a concentration of 0.1 wt % at two different times after mixing (4 min, referred as t approximately 0 h and t = 24 h). At t approximately 0 h, the mixture is mainly made of aggregating soluble electrostatic complexes, whereas after 24 h these complexes have already insolubilize to form liquid coacervates. The surface elasticity, viscosity and phase angle obtained at low frequency (0.01 Hz) using oscillating bubble tensiometry revealed higher fluidity and less rigidity in the film formed at t approximately 0 h. This observation was confirmed by diminishing bubble experiments coupled with microscopy of the thin film. It was thicker, more homogeneous and contained more water at t approximately 0 h as compared to t = 24 h (thinner film, less water). This led to very different gas permeability's of Kt approximately 0 h = 0.021 cm s(-1) and Kt=24 h) = 0.449 cm s(-1), respectively. Aqueous foams produced with the beta-lactoglobulin/acacia gum electrostatic complexes or coacervates exhibited very different stability. The former (t approximately 0 h) had a stable volume, combining low drainage rate and mainly air bubble disproportionation as the destabilization mechanism. By contrast, using coacervates aged for 24 h, the foam was significantly less stable, combining fast liquid drainage and air bubble destabilization though fast gas diffusion followed by film rupture and bubble coalescence. The strong effect of time on the air/water interfacial properties of the beta-lactoglobulin/acacia gum electrostatic complexes can be understood by their reorganization at the interface to form a coacervate phase that is more fluid/viscous at t approximately 0 h vs rigid/elastic at t = 24 h. 相似文献

Abstract Visible chemiluminescence is emitted in the irreversible deactivation of hemoglobin or methemoglobin with excess H2 O2 . The emission takes place in two phases. The most intense one lasts a few seconds and is followed by a second phase of lower intensity that remains for longer periods. This second phase presents chaotic or sustained oscillations. Free radicals are implicated in the luminescent process since the emission can be reduced by free radical scavengers such as 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8,-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid (Trolox) or ascorbic acid. These additives lead to a delay in reaching the maximum intensity, which can be related to their consumption, implying substantial recycling of the hemoprotein. Chemiluminescence is also observed in the oxidation of hemin by H2 O2 , suggesting a role for the heme group in the processes leading to the excited state production. The lower intensity observed in the presence of hemin can be related to the contribution of the globin chains. 相似文献
