Contributions to the Chemical Transport of Metal Oxides. V. Transport of Ternary and Quaternary Mixed Ferrites by their Chlorides The transport by means of HCl as transporting gas in a closed system in the case of the ternary mixed ferrites (Ni_0,8Fe_2,2O₄, Mn_0,75Fe_2,25O₄, Mn_1,286Fe_1,714O₄) and the quaternary mixed ferrites (Mg_0,5Mn_0,5Fe₂O₄, Mg_0,75Mn_0,536Fe_1,714O₄, Mg_0,281Mn_0,469Fe_2,25O₄, Mn_0,5Zn_0,5Fe₂O₄, Mn_0,5Zn_0,45Fe_2,05O₄, Ni_0,5Zn_0,5Fe₂O₄) between T₂ = 1100?1000°C and T₁ = 1000?800°C was investigated. Transported crystals were characterized by chemical analysis and the saturation magnetization, the transport rate has been checked. In the case of Mn_0,5Zn_0,45Fe_2,05O₄ two phases were transported. By discussing the phase diagram an explanation is given.     

Photoinduced Electron Transfer Reactions of alpha-Cyclopropyl- and alpha-Epoxy Ketones. Tandem Fragmentation-Cyclization to Bi-, Tri-, and Spirocyclic Ketones

Reductive photoinduced electron transfer (PET) reactions have been performed with various bicyclic alpha-cyclopropyl-substituted ketones and tertiary amines. The reaction resulted in a regioselective cleavage of one cyclopropyl bond under formation of an exocyclic radical with an endocyclic enolate unit. In the case of bicyclic ketones with an unsaturated side chain, various bicyclic, spirocyclic, and tricyclic products are accessible via radical cyclization, depending on the position of the alkenyl substituent. In addition to triethylamine, N-silylated amines have also been used as electron donors, leading to a variety of compounds, among them are silylated fragmentation products, indicating that a proton is transferred from not only the amine radical cation but also the cationic silyl group. The intramolecular Paternó-Büchi reaction has also been studied for cyclopropane derivatives of the jasmone type leading to tetracyclic oxetanes. Finally, alpha-epoxy-substituted ketones have been investigated under PET conditions, yielding ring-opened products.     

Beitrag zur Analyse von Stibin

Zusammenfassung Es wird ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Stibin beschrieben, das sich sowohl zur Analyse von SbH₃ in organischen Lösungsmitteln als auch zur Bestimmung von flüssigem oder festem SbH₃ eignet. Hierbei wird das Stibin mit überschüssigem Brom zu Sb^V oxydiert, danach mit SO₂ zu Sb^III reduziert und dieses oxydimetrisch mit Jod oder Bromat titriert.

Summary A method is proposed for the determination of stibine, applicable to its solutions in organic solvents and also to the solvent-free liquid or solid substance. The procedure involves oxidation of SbH₃ with an excess of bromine to Sb^V, reduction to Sb^III with SO₂, and oxidimetric titration of the trivalent antimony with iodine or bromate.

Graph products of groups and group spaces

An application of constructions from so-called Bass-Serre theory to group spaces in noncommutative geometry is discussed motivated by the question how to make visible the interplay of different structures coming together in the notion of a group space. A compact summary of basic notions and constructions from Bass-Serre theory up to the structure theorem is developed; it should serve as a brief guideline for further applications. Concluding prospects indicate a way for generalizing the methods from a categorical point of view.Dedicated to Professor Johannes André on the occasion of his 70th birthday     

On isotone functions with the Substitution Property in distributive lattices

A universal algebra isaffine complete if all functions satisfying the Substitution Property are polynomials (composed of the basic operations and the elements of the algebra). In 1962, the first author proved that a bounded distributive lattice is affine complete if and only if it does not contain a proper Boolean interval. Recently, M. Ploica generalized this result to arbitrary distributive lattices.In this paper, we introduce a class of functions on a latticeL, we call themID-polynomials, that derive from polynomials on the ideal lattice (resp., dual ideal lattice) ofL; they are isotone functions and satisfy the Substitution Property. We prove that for a distributive latticeL, all unary functions with the Substitution Property are ID-polynomials if and only ifL contains no proper Boolean interval.The research of the first author was supported by the NSERC of Canada. On stable geometries

Within the concept of projective lattice geometry we are considering the class of stable geometries which have also been introduced in [14]. The investigation of their basic properties will result in fundamental structure theorems which especially give a lattice-geometric characterization of free left modules of rank 6 over proper right Bezout rings of stable rank 2. This yields a proper generalization of previous results of ours.
