Spin observables in small-angle elastic → d scattering with an L-type deuteron target at 800 MeV

We have measured spin correlation parameters that describe the elastic scattering of 800 MeV polarized protons from an L-type polarized deuteron target at laboratory angles below 20°. The measured parameters include the correlated analyzing powers A_SL, A_LL and A_NLL and the proton spin-transfer coefficients C_0L,S, C_0L,L, C_SL,N, C_NL,S, C_NL,L and C_LL,N. The results are compared with single-scattering predictions based on different phase-shift solutions for the nucleon-nucleon scattering matrix.     

The relevance of ester exchange in oxalacetic esters to the decarbonmonoxylation reaction

Oxalacetic esters undergo ester exchange at 120°C, at which temperature loss of CO does not occur. A new mechanism is proposed for the decarbonmonoxylation reaction.     

Limits on neutrino oscillations from a study of νe charged current interactions

We have fully analysed all events with a single electron obtained in an exposure of BEBC to the 350 GeV wide-band neutrino beam at CERN. The data agrees well with expectations based on the calculated ν_e flux and assuming μ?e universality. Using both the rate and the kinematic distributions, improved limits are set on ν_e → ν_X, ν_μ → ν_e, ν_μ → ν_τ mixing.     

Natural convection in a square cavity: A comparison exercise

A number of contributed solutions to the problem of laminar natural convection in a square cavity have been compared with what is regarded as a solution of high accuracy. The purposes of this exercise have been to confirm the accuracy of the bench mark solution and to provide a basis for the assessment of the various methods and computer codes used to obtain the contributed solutions.     

Neutral particle modelling assumptions: Theory and experiment

The neutral particle recycling models that have been used to date in numerical plasma confinement simulations are by no means equivalent but may lead, instead, to divergent results. As a consequence of this confinement studies based on individual neutral assumptions must be received with a healthy degree of scepticism. We go on to compare experimental observations of the time development of plasma density, temperature, and neutral pressure made in an electrostatic surface trap with numerical plasma simulations incorporating a number of alternative neutral models.     

The light-cone gauge at two loops: The scalar anomalous dimension

We demonstrate that the light-cone gauge is a feasible tool for multi-loop computations by using it to evaluate the two-loop scalar anomalous dimension, γ⁽²⁾, in a general gauge theory. In the special case of supersymmetry we obtain agreement with previous results which were derived using non-light-cone techniques.
