Synthesis of acylated (2′-hydroxyethyl)amino- and (2′-aminoethyl)amino-1,3,5-triazines

The acylation of (2-hydroxyethyl)amino-1,3,5-triazines with chloroacetyl chloride with subsequent reaction of the resulting (2-chloroacetoxyethyl)aminotriazines with potassium thiocyanate is described. Acylated derivatives of substituted (2-aminoethyl)aminotriazines were obtained by the reaction of the chlorotriazines with monoacylethylenediamines.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 2, pp. 260–263, February, 1982.     

Interaction of immobilized 2,8,14,20-tetramethyl-4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24-octahydroxycalix[4]arene with Na+, Cs+, and NH4 + ions and organic cations

The equilibrium in the system water—electrolyte—cross-linked polymer containing immobilized 2,8,14,20-tetramethyl-4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24-octahydroxycalix[4]arene was studied. Immobilized calixarene 1 was shown to form 1∶1, 1∶2, 1∶3, and 1∶4 compounds with inorganic cations (Na⁺, Cs⁺, and NH₄ ⁺), and with organic cations (hexamethylen-tetramine and β-diethylaminoethylp-aminobenzoate) 1∶1 compounds are formed. The affinity of immobilized calixarene1 increases in the series of cations: hexamethylenetetramine <Na⁺, Cs⁺, NH₄ ⁺<β-diethylaminoethylp-aminobenzoate. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Research in the chemistry of pyrazolidine XXIII. Study of the reaction of 3,5-dioxopyrazolidines with β-nitrostyrene

Products of Michael condensation containing a 1-phenyl-2-nitroethyl residue in the 4 position of the heteroring are formed in high yields in the reaction of equimolar amounts of 4-methyl-,4-ethyl-, 4-isopropyl-, 4-butyl-, 4-isoamyl-, and 4-phenyl-1, 2-diphenyl-3,5-dioxopyrazolidines and 1,2-diphenyl-3,5-dioxopyrazolidine with -nitrostyrene under basic catalysis conditions. 1,2-Diphenyl-3,5-dioxopyrazolidine adds two equivalents of -nitrostyrene when a twofold excess of the latter is present.See [1] for communication XXII.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 7, pp. 963–964, July, 1978.     

Acyl Derivatives of 2-Aminobenzimidazole and Their Fungicide Activity

Procedures have been developed for the preparation of methyl 2-benzimidazolylcarbamate, 2-acetylaminobenzimidazole, 2-benzoylaminobenzimidazole, 2-(3,5-dibromo-2-hydroxybenzoylamino)benzimidazole, 1-(3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoyl)-2-aminobenzimidazole, 2-(3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzoylamino)benzimidazole, 2-(3,5-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoylamino)benzimidazole, and 1-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-methoxybenzoyl)-2-aminobenzimidazole. The synthesized compounds have been tested for fungicide activity.     

Kinetics of radiation-induced carbonization of poly(vinylidene fluoride) film surface

The kinetics of radiation-induced carbonization of PVDF surfaces aiming at carbyne (one-dimensional carbon allotrope) synthesis have been studied. A sample of poly(vinylidene fluoride) film was exposed to Mg Kα radiation (?ω = 1253.6 eV) in an ESCALAB Mk II spectrometer for 14 h with the aim of surface carbonization. Some 221 spectra of C 1s electrons were measured and expanded using 7 Gaussian curves to reveal and identify species being created on the film surface during its carbonization. A decrease in the content of CF₂ groups, the emergence of CF species in two different states, and growth of a number of fluorine-free carbon atoms have been detected. Simultaneous variations of CH/CH₂, CF and CF₂ peaks suggest elimination of H and F atoms as HF. A proposed model shows three probabilistic factors affecting the rate of degradation, one of which remains uncertain.     

The thermodynamic characteristics of ion exchange in a sulfonated polymer based on <Emphasis Type="Italic">cis</Emphasis>-tetraphenylcalix[4]resorcinarene

The selectivity and thermodynamic characteristics of exchange of protons in SO₃H groups of a sulfonated network polymer based on cis-tetraphenylcalix[4]resorcinarene for Na⁺, Cu²⁺, and In³⁺ cations from aqueous solutions are considered. Semiempirical quantum-chemical calculations of molecular ensembles modeling the structure of the elementary polymer unit in the H and Na forms were performed. The experimental data on the equilibrium phase compositions and the heat of exchange were used to calculate the thermodynamic equilibrium constants, Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy of ion exchange.     

Synthesis and specific nootropic activity of (–)-cytisine derivatives with carbamide and thiocarbamide moieties in their structure

N-(methylcytisinyl)-N′-substituted ureas, N-substituted cytisine-12-carbamides, and cytisine-12-thiocarbamide were prepared by reaction of (–)-cytisine with urea and thiourea and of (–)-cytisine and its 12-N-methyl-3-amino derivative with isocyanates. Their specific nootropic activity was studied in vivo. The therapeutic index was determined for the lead compound. Promising candidates for further pharmacological testing were found.
