Water in the Moon’s polar areas: Results of LEND neutron telescope mapping

The results of LEND neutron telescope mapping of the lunar surface are presented. The estimations obtained show that the water content in the regolith in the polar areas of the Moon reaches 0.4 % by weight and not directly determined by the illuminated surface.     

Gunn diodes with different cathode contacts oscillation on harmonic frequencies

The studies of Gunn diodes on the basis of GaAs with different types of cathode contacts, the profile of doping, the active area length and temperature at frequencies of the second and third harmonics were carried out to obtain effective oscillation in the millimeter and submillimeter ranges.     

Synthesis and stereochemistry of trifluoromethyl-containing isoxazolidines

The reaction of trifluoromethyl-containing enones with hydroxylamine under various conditions is studied. The products in basic medium are equilibrating mixtures of isoxazolidine diastereomers in an 11 ratio. The energy of the nitrogen atom inversion barrier in these compounds is 50–60 kJ/mol. Ultrasonic absorption in carbon nanotube suspensions

Experimental results of measuring ultrasonic absorption in suspensions of multiwall carbon nanotubes are presented. The measured values of the absorption coefficient considerably exceed the corresponding values obtained for nearly spherical fine carbon particles.     

A new technology for studying multicomponent liquids using a quartz crystal resonator: Theory and applications

A new technique for analyzing multicomponent liquids is suggested. It is based on recording “electronic autographs” of liquids and thereby allows one to identify and certify them. In this technique, information comes from the dynamics of the complex process of self-organization in drying drops, this dynamics being dependent on the composition and structure of the liquid. Detecting the self-organization dynamics as acoustomechanical impedance, one can reveal quantitative distinctions between liquids and thereby test their quality by comparing with a reference.     

Effect of Magnetic Treatment on the Structure and Properties of Aramid-Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Plastics

The problems of hardening of aramid-fiber-reinforced (ARF) epoxy plastics during thermomagnetic treatment are considered. The basic results of experimental investigations of the effect of weak magnetic fields on the structure and properties of epoxy materials and on the thermohardening conditions of various ARF plastics are presented. It is found that the physicomechanical properties of ARF textolites, unidirectional aramid-fiber-filled (AFF) plastics, and cylindrical shells improve as a result of treatment in stationary and rotating magnetic fields.
